Change the power steering fluid. It is merconV trans fluid. I used a "turkey baster" to remove as much as I could, filled to full and drove the car for a week and them did the same thing again. I had no squeaks but this damn steering wheel really vibrates when turning at slow speeds. Apparently all of the Edges do this....or so I was told.

I finally got the snorkel off ! 8 just grabbed it and pushed down really hard on it. The snorkel piece came off the air filter housing but it did break. Just a little piece of plastic came off but the filter housing in intact. I decided to add a drop in K&N filter also and man can you hear this thing sucking air. Normal driving sounds the same but when you get on it , this thinjg sounds husky. E ven the wife noticed the difference in sound and she actually liked it. I also picked up about .8 mpg because our trips are 99% the same route and this was with some romps on the gas .

How many people does it take to work a tape measure...? Seriously though, I will measure mine and post back. What is the difference in opening width between the 2 doors ? Mine is exactly 30" from the door pin to the latch. This is on an angle but it doesn't really matter since the openings are the same width.

Sounds like a loose float in the tank. This could be a dangerous problem so take it in for service asap !

The only thing these tunes do is advance the timing a few degrees necessitating the use of premium fuel. You will gain some ponies but with all the advances made in tuning these ecus and pcms, the factory really does tune these vehicles well from the factory but there is always room for improvement. The hp bump from 265 to 285 from 2010 to 2011 was simply a reprogram of the stock pcm. The better gas mileage was attained from better aerodynamics of the front end design. BTW, the design and size of the stock air intake can support up to 400 hp so adding a new smoother flowing or larger diameter air inlet tube is a waste of money. JUst make sure to clean your maf sensor at every oil change and change your air filter. If you want to spend $500 + for an additional 10hp that is up to you.

Brake problem with ABS ( problem solved )
ThinLine replied to Daniboy's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Sounds like an ABS wheel speed sensor. Take the wheels off and clean it. It is the small sensor around the ring gear around the axle. This is a huge money maker for dealers as they only clean the sensor and charge you for numerous abs parts which are very "expensive" and "labor intensive". I have had several people test this out using my scanner and abs reader. The abs reader says wheel speed sensor and after cleaning it, light goes out after a few drive cycles. I then "dirty up" the sensor until light comes back on and then off to the dealer they go. One dealer wanted to go as far as saying my buddy needed a new abs module which was mucho moola ! MOst of them say the wheel speed sensor needs replace and not just one but both ! When confronted about the "honesty test," they clam up and say that they are only going by what their scanner tells them. Some dealers also said that once the sensor gets dirty and sets off the cel, that they cannot be cleaned and must be replaced !!! It is very sad that people who have no knowledge of cars trust these dealers to do right by them, but it is just not the case. We even had one dealer deliberately damage both speed sensors since the car was still on lift when told of the "honesty test" and they removed them and showed the damaged wheel sensors to my buddy ! Restaurants have secret shoppers......why not car dealer service shops ? A little planning and know-how can save you a ton of money and save you from being ripped off. We did this test at 9 dealerships and not one came back and said "we cleaned the wheel speed sensor re-set your light and all should be good.......sad, sad, sad. -
Which cars you compare the Edge with?
ThinLine replied to jdf77's topic in Competing Crossovers & Vehicles
My mother drives an audi Q7 and the Edge isnt even in the parking lot of the ballpark of the audi. The shifting of the Audi is silky yet snappy. The power is smooth and refined. The cabin noise is non-existent and the handling is unbelievable.. The Edge is comparable to the 1.) Toyota Venza 2.) Chevy traverse 3.) GMC terrain 4.)hyundai santafe. I wouldnt compare the Edge to a beamer, audi, or volvo......completely different price points when optioned out. In other words, a "stripped" beamer, volvo, or audi comes close to price in a fully loaded Edge with every available option. -

Need help finding Part number

What happened to the original one ? -
Awesome posting igciting ! It is amazing that I had to twist the service advisors arm to even look the TSB up as they were only going to replace the hub assembly on pass. side even though this is the second time the bearing needed replacement ! They refer to the trailing arm/knuckle as a "link" on the work order. Even if I had the printout that you posted, which is the exct one that Ford pulls up from the oasis database, the advisor still would not look at it. Trying to make someone elses job easier actually makes it harder for the customer.....geeesh ! BTW, ghastly, were you able to get the dealer to order the trailing arm/knuckle even though they already replaced the hub assembly ? Keep us informed brother.

I have researched tires for about 2 months to the point of driving my wife up the wall. I went with the Toyo Versado CUV in size 245/60/18. These tires are unbelievably quiet and provide and ultra smooth ride. The wet traction is absolutely outstanding ! I can drive through a long deep puddle at 50mph and these tires cut the water like a hot knife through butter. One thing that I found most impressive is the improved steering response an ease at which my Edge turns. I replaced the stock michelin lattitude tour hp's and these tires were absolutely horrible in the rain........to the point that my wife refused to drive in the rain! I ordered these tires from www.treadepot.com and they are priced at $146 per tire. They are about $60 cheaper than the michelins per tire ! The new tires have the "paint lines" on the tread and I have put over 300 miles on these tires and the lines are still there....proving to me that these tires are going to wear very well. They have and "A" rating for traction and temperature and 440 tread wear. Our Edge drives better than it did when new ! I love driving her again. I was hesitant at first going with an overseas made tire as I tend to buy only american made products, but I have been completely satisified and impressed with my purchase. BTW, this is the only tire specifically designed for owners of CUV's which is important becaue these cars weigh over 2 tons and ride on a car frame. I have compared these tires on-line to the goodyear assurance, yokohama avid envigor, dunlop signature, and cooper discoverer cuv. The sidewall design of this tire is amazing and looks great on the Edge.....very sporty. I always thought the sidewalls of the michelins were "too busy". IMHO, there is no better tire out there and no better place to buy them from. Peace.

Amen cannon ! I could not agree with you more. Their kits are garbage, their warrantys are garbage, and if something goes wrong with the kit it's your fault because you "installed it wrong". I cannot emphasize enough for anyone to stay far, far away from retro-solutions. I had the same exact issue...lights would fire and driver side would always go out. Actually, I would advise against any HID kit be installed on the edge due to the pulsed electrical system. I was actually the one who pioneered the Edge specific harness after trial and error with their cheap overseas garbage kit. All the connections were loose in the wiring.....what a nightmare! STAY AWAY FROM RETRO-SOLUTIONS !!!!.

FMPP is overpriced garbage. They will have bent you over with no vaseline if you purchase this plan.

I used a synthetic blend blinker fluid which is what Ford suggests. Will using full synthetic void my warranty........I can't afford to pay for a blinker bulb since it won't be covered under warranty ?

Return it.

The 18" wheel/tire has the same overall diameter of the 22" wheel/tire. Weight is the same since the sport rims are aluminum.
