  1. Had same issue few months after buying the car....'08 limited. Dealer had it towed to their shop, replaced the battery and have had no problems and it's been 2 years. Take your Edge to a different dealer.
  2. Let us know how it goes !
  3. Tell them to change the cam position sensor and possibly Exhaust control solenoid.......My money is on the camshaft position sensor though. This is relatively easy to diagnose at the dealer.....take your car to a different Ford service center. If you have no warranty, it will get pricey !
  4. Your not "dropping" the car. The 20's with the 245/50/20 tire will have the same exact diameter as the 18's. You never want to change the diameter as this will throw the speedo off as well as trans shift points ...etc...The ride will be a little stiffer due to a smaller side wall of the 20" tire. Since you increase the diameter of the rim, you must decrease the diameter of the tire to keep the stock circumfrence of the overall tire/rim combo.
  5. I read that the 72 month 100,000 mile ESP cost $1,400. If this is the total cost for the esp, than this is a no brainer purchase for warranty coverage up to 100,000 miles ! I believe the deductible is $100 and this is for the premium care package. I have a hard time believing that it costs this little and I feel I am missing something in the fine print here. I have had a total of $12,000 that Ford put out for repair of warranty issues.
  6. Doesnt matter, heat or a/c it is the fan motor.
  7. With all the issues I have had with this vehicle, I am seriously considering Fords ESP. Does anyone have this coverage and what does it cover/ cost. I know there are varying levels of protection and I would be interested in the maximum level of protection. Thanks !
  8. Have same very high pitch sound when after starting car. Only happens when heat comes on low. If you turn the fan speed higher, the noise goes away. Originally thought it was the fuel pump, but it is directly related to the hvac system. Turn off the heat next time you park the car and when you start the car up later, I guarantee the noise will be gone. When you turn heat on......only on the lowest fan setting, you will get the whine.
  9. I have same issue.....sounds like glass that is slowly cracking and crunching...kinda like rolling a marble over the glass constantly. I've learned to live with it.
  10. Thanks PSU........I know this sound isn't normal. If it is deemed that your sound is not normal and you have the motor replaced....I have a leg to stand on when I take the Edge back to the dealer. Please let us know what you find out !!
  11. Holy Moly ! Is there something in the water you all are drinking ....?
  12. Hey Lonstar ! I don't really see anyone who was "attacked" but if your referring to Gary.....he's just a miserable whiney D-bag. Sorry you feel the way you do, but this site does offer a plethora of good info and good people. Seems you want to gain the "upper hand" by posting your comments about others on this forum.....further perpetuating the issues you stated above. Have a great day !
  13. Welcome to the Forum ! I am also a Mustang fanatic. I have a heavily modded 2001 GT and my Dad owns a 2004 Mystichrome Cobra convertible. Good Luck with your Edge !
  14. I believe it's inside the motor. Kinda sounds like a metal wire scratching on a metal surface intermittently.

    Brakes

I agree Akirb.....some say they experienced the car accelerating when they weren't even touching the gas pedal. Toyota says they conduct strict testing on E.M.I. and that this does not interfere with the electronics which control the car. The problem is with the signal being sent to the transducer from the brake pedal. I am thankful we do have brake overide, which toyota does not.
  16. I have this intermittent "screech" coming from the wiper motor when rear wiper is activated. It is not the wiper blade, and it almost sounds like the motor windings going bad. Took it into dealer and Tech said he did not hear it......Service Mgr. said it's normal and that all wiper motors do it. I have never heard a noisy wiper motor front or rear on my or any cars I have ever been in. Service Mgr. also called me about an hour after leaving and said he heard the same noise on an '08 a '10 and then he proceeded to tell me that his Gf's Volvo does the same thing......(ford product) It is Hella annoying and by no means normal. BTW, he is replacing all 4 rims.....again for corrosion and gives me crap for a $50 wiper motor.....go figure.
  17. I don't know if the warranty is going to be honored edgeout, now that you have tampered with the rims. My thread got hijacked, so if anyone else has had them replaced twice, I would like to hear from you. It seems Ford is doing nothing with the design of the rim......if they would just construct the 18's like the 20's.....with no outer lip...I think the issue would be resolved. I will continue to have the rims replaced under warranty....once out of warranty, I guess I'm SOL !
  18. Already had my 18" chrome clad rims replaced due to the outer clear coated aluminum rim pitting with black spots. Well, this set is worse than the original ones. I have 30,000 miles on her now and these rims only have 10,000 miles on them. Ready to take car in for 30,000 multi-point inspection and will show service manager the rims. I just want to know if anyone here has had them replaced twice....as I do not want to have any problems getting these replaced under warranty.....again. The major thing that sucks is that these rims will do this indefinitely when out of warranty so I guess I am just going to have to live with these dalmatian rims when the replaced set starts to pit again.
  19. I had the driver side turn signal go bulb go out last week......same charring and melting as stated by others. I did not receive a bulb out warning , just the fast clicking. I guess the bulb wasn't totally out as the same bulb controls when the lights are on just has 2 filaments inside the single bulb. Anywho, should you get the "bulb out" warning with the turn signal/brake light not working ?
  20. Using 10W-30 will not only kill your gas mileage but will not effectively lubricate the motor at start up or at full operating temp. YOur warranty can and will be voided on engine related repairs by ford. The only acceptable viscositys are 5W-20 and 0W-20. Going with a thicker oil than recommended is not wise.
  21. The 18's have the problem of the outer clear coated aluminum rim pitting and flaking. The 20's have the issue of the plastic cover coming loose and clicking when turning.
  22. I hear ya, or maybe they didnt test it at all and blew it off. The grease seemed very pliable but it is cold .....but it never has done this before...I have an '08. Now I have a new problem with the rear wiper making horrible squeaking noises when it wipes....and no it is not the blade noise on the glass...it is coming from the motor. Back to the dealer.
  23. I know what you mean ablb...haha.....I try to call Cindy and she insists on calling her signdy !! Text to speech is funny as hell.
  24. My BAMR as it is closing is very jerky. Does not do it all the time. Had it in dealer for other issues and told them that it was closing very slow......much slower than it did...and they said they tested closing speed/time with another '08 and said it was fine. I checked the tracks and has alot of lithium grease. Any suggestions how to cure the jerkiness....as the dealer seems to want to do nothing about it.
  25. I love the "courtesy" wipe. I always had to hit the wipers one more time after the cleaning cycle to remove the rest. I thought that was the coolest thing.....I am easily amused.
