  1. Glad you got it worked out Lex. We also had the green light go dim on the number pad on the door. It is the middle number that is barely lit. Dealer said ford would "kick it back" if they repaired it because they said it was lit........very dimly , but lit. Kinda pisses me off they wont fix it because there is an apparent led burned out.....which are supposed to last like 25 years. BTW, I had the car in for an unrelated issue with the retro solutions HID kit installed and apparently everyone in the shop was checking it out. Put everything back to stock and driver headlight would not come on......took it in and Travis, my service manager knew right away what caused the SJB to "burn out" as they put it.....he explained to me that the SJB needed to be replaced.....maybe they did just reprogram it......no one will ever know. I have sais it before and I'm saying it now......if you want HID's , make sure the car comes that way from the factory.
  2. I was waiting for you to have this issue with good ole retro solutions hid kit lexxy. You "blew out" your SJB. Just as I did before they offered an "edge specific" harness. Luckily, I'm cool with my dealer and they replaced the box under warranty......it would have cost $1,000 out of pocket. I checked all the same things you did.....to no avail. You need to take it to the dealer......and send retro a thank you letter for their wonderful HID kits !
  3. It's the camshaft position sensor. With car in drive and foot on brake at light....idle would surge up and down followed by check engine light.
  4. I always clean the surface where the gasket mates and coat the new gasket with fresh oil before install.....thanks for the repies. I did inspect above the area where the filter goes and all is clean and dry. It is definitely coming from the filter gasket area.
  5. I have noticed some spots on the driveway recently from our Edge. 2008 with 35,000 miles. I have been using mobil 1 with motorcraft filter since 5,000 miles. I thought that maybe I tightened the filter too much or just had a defective oil filter. I changed the oil and filter @35,000 and checked under her yesterday and I can see a line of oil on the filter from where the filter gasket mates to the metal ring. I inspected the ring where the gasket mates to and it seems fine. Anyone else experiencing this issue ? It is not alot of oil ......maybe 5 or 6 drops within 5,000 mile between changes. Thanks !
  6. Make sure you check the trans fluid level....which you would assume was done at the place where you bought the car, but you never know. My gas mileage also went up 1.5 mpg due to the snappier 1-2 shift and no more "lugging" feeling going uphill. I fell in love with my car again !
  7. For those of you who installed an HID kit and it actually works properly.....more power to you. If you have the automatic on headlights and you have had no issues.....I mean everything works like stock and both lights fire and stay on......chime in on what kit you have and price. Thanks.
  8. Just had the PCM and TCM reflashed with the updated program from Ford. They said this is a known issue. At first, the computer would not accept the new program. Took it in the next day and it accepted the updates just fine. This is like a totally different car! It downshifts better when going uphill on a long incline.....before, it would just not downshift until your speed dropped like 15 -20 mph from what you want to cruise at. The 1-2 shift is much more crisp and the downshifts are snappier and more responsive. It no longer hesitates when giving gas before it would downshift when slowing for a turn. Thanks for all the replies ! Happy motoring Denny !
  9. I have a 2008 Limited with 35,000 miles and I am having an issue with the 1-2 shift. Sometimes, when shifting from first to second, It feels like the trans is "banging" or almost feels as if someone tapped my bumper from behind. It will do it maybe 3 times in one outing and not do it for weeks. I feel that the 1-2 shift was always "lazy" or very slow to shift between 1-2 under light accleration. Is this a known issue ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Ford charges $100 just to plug their scanner into the port under your dash to tell you why the "check engine light" is on. Now it's free......? you work on these cars, you of all people should know damn well that the vehicle health report is garbage. I run them and half the time I never receive it via e-mail. When I do receive it, it tells you nothing useful. I had my check engine light on due to a faulty cam positon sensor and it would not idle and stall out......but the vehicle health report stated that everything was fine......yeah, it really "translated stored codes" Do your research douchebag.
  11. That feature is a generic "idiot gauge" feature. It absolutely does not "communicate" with your individual vehicle. That garbage is useless. HOw great would it be if it could actually monitor your vehicle based on vin number and actually "know" your check engine light was triggered and tell you why it was triggered. Anywho, you are still under warranty so take it in for service.
  12. After reading this garbage......you BBF were the first one to state that MOF had an atittude with you when he clearly did not. I would just have liked to see you post the weights of all 3 wheel/tire combos rather than you saying to look it up yourself. Cripes ! (#16 post)
  13. I wish our Edge had as few problems as yours does....
  14. Do not buy that vehicle. Look into a new model with less options to match your price range.
  15. I second the wheel bearing. Probably passenger rear or possibly both. Take it in and dealer will fix it.
  16. Hold a K&N filter up to sun and you will see pin holes through the whole filter media. They flow better than any other filter at the expense of leeting gobs of dirt in the engine and contaminating your MAF with oil if oiled improperly....which is very easy to do. I run amsoil air filter and clean it twice a year with compressed air and it lasts up to 4 years.
  17. Good luck finding a dealer that will actually repair the memory seat issue. I had to have 2 modules replaced under the seat.......after many attempts to get the issue to occur at the dealer !
  18. Change the cabin air filter and spray some "ozium" into the intake where the filter goes behind the glovebox. I have the same smell at first but it goes away after a/c runs for a few minutes. Sadly, others have tried this and it had little to no effect on the odor.
  19. My wife was blown away by the "courtesy" wipe. Now I don't have to manually do it to remove residual fluid.
  20. If you live where it never snows......your good. If not, the outer clear coated aluminum rim will pit and clearcoat will peel off. Had ours replaced twice under warranty. They are a steel wheel so they should be durable. Sometimes, if the wheel weights are placed inside the rim...(stick-ons) you can get a slight vibration. Take it in and have the wheels balanced and if the vibration remains......you have other issues...maybe brake rotors or something in the driveline.
  21. WTF !! How could any tech in their right mind consider this a completed acceptable repair ?
