  1. Have any new vehicle buyers encountered dealers wanting you to buy glass etching, if so did the dealer tell you you had to buy it as it was an option the dealer added to the vehicle so you now have to pay for it, they make you feel you have no alternative but to pay for it, if you want it fine but some dealers don't give you that option. . ..see links below http://carbuyinghowto.com/car-window-etching-scam-or-not/ http://www.autos.ca/forum/index.php/topic,66176.0.html http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=29685
  2. Is Ford serious? $1,100 for ONE try these guys, they are in Aurora http://www.carcone.com/ http://carconeswheelrefinishing.com/
  3. How do you know the dealer put in nitrogen? can you test the nitrogen in your tires to confirm they contain nitrogen? Bet they put those green valve caps on and charged you $$.$$ for them? I always say do not buy something-anything you can't see or test. But that is just me
  4. I am in Canada and do mostly highway driving at 60 to 65 M/H (100K/H- 110K/H) and I get about high 20 MPG in American gallons. Of course this is summer driving on stock tires. Winter driving my mileage is lower, winter tires more like low 20s. As for letting your car idle for any length of time to warm it up is a waste of gas. I have leather with heated seat. I just start the vehicle, turn the heated seats on and drive and in a short time the temp is up warming the rest of the interior. The vehicle warms up quicker by driving it than by idling to get it up to temp. The jury is still out in regards to the 4 cylinder eco boost for better gas mileage? I have a SEL FWD. I stayed away from the AWD because of poorer gas mileage and possible high maintenance cost down the road. A good set of winter tires is all I need.

  6. Thought I would post this, interesting read, not sure if this is old info? http://www.driverside.com/auto-library/the_future_is_here_six_of_the_best_automotive_infotainment_systems-807?utm_source=af&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter_af
  7. Check Ebay, I have one of the silver adjustable type, my Edge is silver...as for reception slightly less, see specs, link below I never did a comparison with the stock but seems to be OK for me, no complaints. I had one on my Mazda 3 and had a slight lower reception strength. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Z-Black-short-stubby-3-fixed-length-adjustable-antenna-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem35a12beaa5QQitemZ230337276581QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  8. I have 17" winter tires and do not experience what some of you are. Try smaller tires for winter driving in snow even if you have AWD
  9. I have a 2010 and for the reason of the PTU leak I stayed away from the AWD. Just invested in a good set of winter tires and so far no handling issues driving in the snow.

    First snow

Do any of you have winter tires?
  11. I also agree, the handle position is awkward. When closing the big door the handle being so close to the hinges it is very difficult to pull all the weight to close it. Hope they change the design to the pre 2011.
  12. The dealer is not disabling a safety devise, it still works if the light comes on. Why do all dealers I asked about winter tires with no sensors say you must have the sensors, except 1 dealer . Waiting for the light to come on can be too late to do anything about the low tire pressure and cause a blow out. So I could drive with a low tire pressure and not know it because the light may take time to come on? Wheres the safety. Maybe I am reading all of this wrong so please correct me. The manual says WARNING The tire pressure monitoring system is NOT a substitute for manually checking tire pressure. The tire pressure should be checked periodically (at least once a month) using a tire gauge. The warning removes them from being liable. Is it possible the monitoring system could fail and not warn you of low air pressure? If it fails and have an accident because of a low pressure can I go after Ford for damages? I don't think so..correct me if I am wrong. The manual says nothing about driving for a period of time or distance after installing tires with no sensors for the light to come on. Its still your decision to remove seat belts if thats what you want. Manufactures are mandated to install safety belts as a safety measure, after you buy the car you can do what ever you want with the car and the manufacturer would not be responsible for your actions. Your right they won't remove them. If I drive without wearing the seat belt and have an accident and injure myself because of not wearing it can I go after the manufacture, of course not. Its all about paranoia. squeeze more money out of us by telling us dealers will be liable. Let the debate continue
  13. I will check the manual, also heard it takes about 10 - 20 minutes of driving before the light should come on, my wife drives the car and her drive to work is about 20 minutes, maybe slightly less. Thanks for your help.
  14. I have a 2010 and last week put on winter tires on 17" steel rims, original equipped 18" I get no warning on the dash or beep, nothing. Do I have an issue with my TPMS? Dealers wanted $400 for the tire sensors (Canada) One Ford dealer said they would not sell me winter tires unless I have the sensors installed. I said I don't want the sensors and would live with the light on the dash. Was told it was a dealer policy. I guess they also try and sell nitrogen in the tires and glass etching saying the same thing, dealer policy you have to buy it, I don't think so I buy what I want to buy, not told what I have to buy as an assessory I should add the light for the TPMS on the dash is on before start up and goes out after start up.

  17. Looking to put winter rubber on my 2010 Edge equipped with 18" rims, will go to 235 or 245-65R-17 Reading all the reviews have gone crossed eyed and confused what to buy. Anybody out have winters on your Edge? Your thoughts on what you have on your vehicle if so what brand etc? Also not thinking of putting on the TPMS, I hear that the warning light will stay on, which I am OK with but will I also get a warning in my message center that won't allow me to see all the other info? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  18. I agree with the reflection of the dash on the windshield. Unless they change the slope of the windshield-glass the reflection will always be there. Changing the location of the door handle probably won't be changed until the next design change in 4 to 5 years. I could be wrong, making a change from year to year is expensive. Just my opinion, flame away...
  19. Go to simply tyre web site and say you are with the Toronto Mazda 3 club and you want in the group buy for winter tires for your Ford.. He will give you a list on steel rims. Thats what I did as I use to own a Mazda.
  20. I have also dealt with Simply Tyre and he quoted me for the same tires $1070 plus taxes. no TPMS How much did you pay for the sensors? I am also in on a group buy. So how did you get it all in for $1160? Thanks
  21. Don't like the wood paneling when I first saw it, Might look better if it was a bit more shinny. Looks cheap to me.
  22. FWD or All Wheel Drive? I have a 2010 FWD and I get 8.6 to 8.8 at 110K/H
  23. Keep us informed how you make out, process, problems etc. Thanks
