ravishingrocket
Is there any such thing as adapter rings to increase the diameter mounting of a sub? I bought a 8" kicker sub to replace the stocker in the stock box, but the mounting diameter is 1" smaller than the stock sub. I see adapter rings to increase the mounting depth, but nothing in regards to diameter Edited June 4, 2013 by ravishingrocket
Dingo
You won't be happy with the kicker. Just exchange it for something else.
ravishingrocket
You won't be happy with the kicker. Just exchange it for something else. Ā Whats wrong with the kicker? I've never had a kicker product before. My last sub was a pioneer. I've looked at many 8" subs and none appear to have a diameter large enuf to be a direct swap
Dingo
It just is too midbass-y. Sounds weirdly hollow. My Boston sub was a direct fit.
wannabang
I'd agree with Dingo. You can make a mounting ring to fit your sub in a bigger opening, or build something to extend it far enough out to make it fit a smaller opening. I did it with my brother's door speakers. Try Sundown or SSA. Of the budget, factory-made subs, I like Alpine and have found that JL's lower end subs are budget-friendly.
Dingo
Wanna, none of the subs you named will fit the depth of the stock box.

wannabang
JL has a shallow, as well as a W0 series. Sundown caries an E and SD line. Unless I'm really unaware of how little room there is there. I know I was looking at a Crescendo midbass driver at one point.
Dingo
Only about 3.5" if I remember correctly.
az_edge
What do you guys think of just putting in a Kicker Hideaway where the factory sub goes? I checked one out at best buy and the bass was surprisingly good and the reviews are very good.

PrinzII
JL has two thin subs. 13TW5 which is a 13" thin sub and the 10TW3 which is a 10" based on the regular W3.
ravishingrocket
It just is too midbass-y. Sounds weirdly hollow. My Boston sub was a direct fit. Just got a Boston sub. Fits the same as the kicker. All mounting points are 1 inch apart
Dingo
Wtf? Something isn't right. Mine was a direct swap as far as diameter.

ravishingrocket
Doing some research, it appears my box is the Lincoln 9" box, NOT the Edge box the auction said it was....

ravishingrocket
Yea my box looks exactly like that, but when I ran the part number on the back, it came up with the Lincoln 9" THX enclosure Edited June 12, 2013 by ravishingrocket
