Brianhinton67
Does anyone out there have vent shades for 2016 edge that they are very happy with, whether it be in channel or tape on. I have heard that ford quit making in channel ones because of tight tolerance and Windows not rolling all the way up. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Tjm623
I shy away from in channel for that exact reason. My 98 explorer I'd have to try and time it pushing out with my finger on the vent just enough as the window passed it to close all the way. Dangerous to say the least. I don't think the tape on ones are noticeable/looked bad if you can attach them to a dark vehicle color or the door area being attached is black though
Spree
In the channel will work and looks clean! Better then the stick on crap. You need to do a little modification though! Chamfer the edges before installing, so the window will push by them. I did this with my 13. It took a little work but,...works perfect! I also had to use a little extra double sided tape on the sides. As long as the windows don't hit anything....your golden! The windows work just like factory. Chipster
I used the tape on and it was fine. Here is the rub though; No matter which type you use if the reason that you want them is to lower the windows in the summer and not worry about rain... The back window's shape are such that the shade does not offer any protection for the back portion of the back windows. Nothing we can do about that...Just a FYI. Not a very good picture, but you get the idea... Edited September 16, 2016 by Chipster
Tjm623
They look good, sucks about back windows not working right. I don't think I'll get them for my cars again though. Loved them when I smoked for rainy days. Ever since I quit I don't typically vent the car when parked anymore or drive with them open unless it's nice out. I use global open when going to car to vent or just remote start it
cmantis
Any updates on ones that will work good on a 2016 Edge? Looks like AVS and Weather Tec are the two I am finding. (How do you Chamfer the edges?) Edited December 11, 2018 by cmantis
Chipster
AVS on my 2016 as I posted before. I will warn you that if you go with the AVS to make sure that you leave a bit of clearance between the edge of the ventshade and the edge of the the door. (in my case drivers front door) It seems that after parking in the direct summer sun that the plastic grows length wise creating a bit of an issue. I had to shave the ventshade on the back door a tad (tech. term) to keep it from catching the drivers door edge. As seen in the close up image. The second image is a better look at the completed installation.
Spree
I thought I had inserted a pic of my "in the channel" shades. Here it is anyway. My windows work normal.
