jtm1111
I have a 2013 ford edge car alarm goes off for no reason at odd times. Can some one help with a solution.
enigma-2
Most common causes are either the hood ajar sensor needs to be cleaned or one of the door ajar switches is failing, tripping the alarm. Is the interior light on at the same time (BCM thinking a door has been opened)?
First Ford Last Ford
This issue has been reported in multiple forums elsewhere. It appears that the switch in the door is faulty, however many responses have suggested that because its a flaw in the design of the part, the replacement part may fail as well. Suggested fixes (if you're outside the warranty window) include using a sensor cleaner (a lot of it) in the sensor contact area but that made mine appear even more so. That being said, I have found that if you acknowledge the alarm by pressing "OK", then opening and re-closing the door, it seems to disappear (until next time). I used the sensor cleaner over a week ago and this fix seems to be working.
First Ford Last Ford
Follow-up: just prior to having the door switch replaced at $600 CDN, our alarm starting going off randomly while sitting unattended in supervised lots. Issue went away after replacing switch. Also, a Class Action lawsuit has been filed by McCune Wright Arevala regarding this issue.
samdamico
You can also ground out the trigger wires found behind the kick panels. Green purple for the drivers side and White on the passenger side.
