CN_Hogger
Hello everyone, new to the forum and this is my first post. I'm really interested in buying an '08 Edge and had a couple questions. I've only owned GM cars(6 so far) and was wondering about the quality of Ford as to fit and finish(interior noises/rattles after awhile). Also, is the panoramic roof worth getting, I'm used to sunroofs/t-tops and like the look of it, does it heat the car up real bad in the summer? And finally, does anyone know about the X-Plan pricing? I can get it through my work and was wondering how much of a savings it is. Thanks! CN_Hogger Edited May 11, 2008 by CN_Hogger
edgedout
I'm 59 and have had only GM products. Now have a 07 SEL+ with 5000 miles. Absolutly no problems so far. I could not be happier with the car. It is a very smooth ride and rattle-free. Test drive one if you dare. It might turn you into a FORD man!!! CreamEDGE.
It won't heat up the interior, the shade does a great job of keeping the heat out. It's worth EVERY dime for the BAMR. The only rattle I had was with the BAMR & headliner and it was fixed quickly.
akirby
You'll be pleasantly surprised at Ford's quality compared to GM. X plan basically gets you dealer invoice (or just below) with no hassle and no extra fees. You only pay $75 doc fee instead of $300-$500. Ford gives the dealer a spiff check on each sale so it's a good deal for them, too. Go to the fordpartner.com website for details.
CN_Hogger
Thanks for the replies! I'll have to get my ducks in a row, so to speak, and get to a dealer and check it out. Again, thanks!
ablb
Thanks for the replies! I'll have to get my ducks in a row, so to speak, and get to a dealer and check it out. Again, thanks! Quality Control is why we stopped buying GM (6). However that was in 1997 maybe they have improved . Our last GM was a Cadillac Catera. Center stack replaced week 2 Sun roof replaced week 6 New tires/alignment month 6 Right rear window no up/down month 11 Trunk no close month 13 New tires/alignment month 18 More, but I'm running out of room and the list is almost as long for an S10 before that. On a happier note :D 98 Ranger 1 visit, recalled to lube wipers and replace the Firestones 05 F250 1 fix, the blue oval was fading 08 MKX 0 so far BUT FORD DOES seem to cut a few corners. Exploding Pinto's Exploding Crown Vick's, you would think they would have remembered the Pinto  Firestones ab
CN_Hogger
Well I went and test drove one yesterday afternoon and loved it. Ended up leaving the dealership with a Vapor Silver Limited AWD, with the vista roof. Haven't put too many miles on it yet, but I'm very happy so far! JRavey
You should be able to go to www.fordpartner.com and check the local dealer inventory with X-Plan pricing. The moonroof is absolutely fantastic. By default, it opens about 75% and is more quiet there than fully open. For highway use, I leave it where it wants to stop instead of all of the way open. The liner has limited the car from getting too hot in the summer, at least it's not any hotter than other cars. This was a concern I had with the moonroof, but it was a non-issue. fordchic79
Gosh, GM, huh??? Here is waindow stcker for the Edge FWD LMTD w/PANORAMIC VISTA ROOF. No it does not actually get hot in the car because of the vista roof. It's some special kind of glass. You have the options of AWD or FWD in an SE, SEL & LMTD. FRW is cheaper and the SE model is the cheapest. It cost almost $2K to get the Vista Roof. The A&Z pricing on this perticular model is $31,479.45. The cheapest A&Z I was able to find with the Vista roof was $27,579.75. The vista is not an option on the SE models. You would also get the standard rebate. I have it at work, but it ranges from $1500-$3000 or low APR...blahblah.
