EdgeGT350
I have a 2013 Edge Titanium with a power liftgate. It is supposed to open and close with the push of a button. It does not. It will unlatch, but moves 6 inches and acts like it's hitting something and stops. When closing, it does the same. It moves about 6 inches and stops. I reach up, slowly pull it down, and it closes. Is there a way to disable the power opening and closing without doing damage to something else? I'd like to be able to unlatch it at the button and lift if up and close it manually. Is that an option? Edited August 19 by EdgeGT350 To add tags
enigma-2
The auto/manual switch is in the menu structure, under settings->convenience. When you manually open the hatch, does it go wide open and stay there? (Wondering if the hatch needs new struts, binding or the power lift is failing.) Haz
Welcome to the Forum @EdgeGT350! As @enigma-2 indicates, with us looking to the 2013 Edge Owners Guide pictured below (with relevant text highlighted in yellow )... However, before you disable your Edge's power liftgate, you may want to perform a Power Liftgate Reset to see if it eliminates the partial-opening issue... ion But, rather than disconnecting the vehicle's battery to perform the Reset, removing the Fuse #7 in the Power Distribution Box for 20 seconds fully performs the Power Liftgate Reset and it only affects the Power Liftgate circuit... Please consider reporting back here on what effect the Power Liftgate Reset has upon the partial opening issue. Other diagnostic steps are available if the Power Liftgate Reset procedure provides no improvement. Or, you can disable the Power Liftgate, per your original question. Good luck!
enigma-2
My money is on a failing lift gate power strut. OP says it lifts 6" then "hits something". But it opens ok manually.
EdgeGT350
I did the reset. However, I pulled the fuse for a minute rather than disconnect the battery. Knock on wood, it's working correctly now. Thank you. 2
