danwdc
Is there a way to mostly drain the coolant system? I remove the drain plug and reservoir cap and only half comes out. Is there a bleed screw? I think it’s only on the 4 cylinder. Would an evac kit like this get it out? https://a.co/d/98lJ9b8 I can get a vacuum pump from O’Reillys but I can’t figure out attachments to evac the coolant. Or is it just drain fill repeat, drain fill repeat…
enigma-2
Its been my understanding that you usually only get around half the coolant because the other half in still in the heater core and engine block. I've read where some remove the lower radiator hose and get a little more. Vacuum drains work in some cases, never heard whether it works on the 3.5. Usual way is to refill with distilled water, drive, drain and refill again. But I've always heard that changing half is usually sufficient. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. Ford doesn't. danwdc
Thanks for the reply. I was thinking about the lower radiator hose. But I figured “why?” since the petcock is lower than the lower hose.
