ktpman
Can anyone tell me how much rougher the ride will be going to a 20" wheel and tire from a 18"? I don't want to sacrafice any ride quality in my mkx. What's the biggest tire you have with a 20"?
kiese02
Hello, I had 17's on our first Edge and currently have the 20's on our second Edge. I actually think the 20's ride nicer than the 17's ever did. Thats just my opinion but i would have no problem or hesitation going to the 20's from the 18's. Edge184
I just put on 20's from 18's. Running a 265/45R20. There really is not that much of a difference. Nice smooth ride on my Edge. Maybe a little rough if you hit a nice sized pothole but I try and avoid them..
bluetexan
FWIW we test drove the MKX with 20's and with 18's (different dealerships). I really couldn't notice any appreciable difference, although the 18's rode a little better than the 20's. Of course, this is kind of to be expected. Wife said she noticed a huge difference, so that might be your answer right there as to what you need to get We ended up with 18's. BlazedUp
The 20's have a much shorter and stiffer sidewall tire......this translates to a slightly harsher ride but much better handling in the corners.
jhodges10
We've got 20's and I think overall the ride is better. Certainly firmer so going over bumps jolts you a bit more but as for the bulk of the driving I think they allow for a smoother ride.
