Never replaced speakers in a vehicle with a DSP. I'm wanting to use Focal separates, but I'm not sure if I'd need to use a Focal Xover? Any help appreciated. Thanks y'all! What you need is someone who knows their aftermarket sound really well in order to get the results you want. I haven't seen much discussion about that topic on this forum but will admit I haven't looked for it either. For me, the B&O system is pretty acceptable for an OE application and I decided it was enough for me. At least it isn't a sh*tty BOSE setup like so many GM vehicles have been using for years. I used to be on Ford Truck Enthusiast and there was extensive talk between several members (several were in high end car stereo biz) about upgrading stereos, adding amps, etc to factory systems with DSPs. I thought the same may exist here... I realize there could be real implications changing out speakers. Google wasn't much help other than to overview the issue and warn that a higher impedence speaker could overheat the factory system... Reading up it is a 12-speaker system, including a front center speaker, 2 rear surround speakers (in the ceiling) and a subwoofer in the back. I have it set in 'surround' mode, which makes such a big difference! garycrist Posted 12 hours ago Report Share Posted 12 hours ago I used to custom install radios/stereos. I am also left handed (Lefties are better processing stereo/ music or hear it better). I can tell stories about me testing some theories on my installs. I snicker about all of the speaker replacements as I know most of them are going to go even deafer than they are today as all they worry about VOLUME. I've intentionally cross wired and cross polarized speakers and most will just "turn it up louder"! For a Christmas my sons put a new stereo with all the bell and whistles as a present. When finished, they came to show what they had done. Upon turning the radio on, it sounded like CRAP. Several of the speakers were wired backwards and it was terrible. I asked a few questions and sure enough they learned a few lessons on polarity. After finding the problem and this time noting the wiring diagram, they got it right. I could tell but they really could not. I agree with you @STBEAST these are fairly nice systems. Now about 50 to 100 pounds of insulation/ undercoating that has been removed by the factories for CAFE Standards, if reinstalled would do wonders for sound quality! 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
