JustinH
Hello all, I drive a 17 model Edge. Recently I can't lock/unlock the car remotely with my key fobs. I've changed the batteries in both fobs yet nothing seems to work. I can still access the car by pressing on the door handles.
Samurai Edge
II had to change the batteries once in my FOBs. I had to look around to find the correct battery. So, just a question, well, let's make that three questions: 1. Are you sure you purchased the correct battery? 2. Are you sure the battery is making correct contact? 3. Are you sure you put the battery right side up? I have changed batteries before when I wasn't paying enough attention and either put the batteries in backwards or did not seat the battery fully. One more thing: Check the battery contacts for corrosion. You will need to clean that up if it exists. omar302
It would be too coincidental to have both fob's batteries to die at the same time. Also, if it were a battery issue I think the keyless entry (using the door handle) shouldn't work. I'd think you have another issue, I would recommend that you disconnect the car's battery for ~ 10 minutes to reset the electronics and see if it fixes the issue. Samurai Edge
It also depends on where JustinH bought his batteries from. If bought over the internet, it's not uncommon for the batteries to be end-of-life already when received. I always buy batteries from local sources and check the expiration date before purchase. 13 minutes ago, omar302 said: It would be too coincidental to have both fob's batteries to die at the same time.
