Surface Rust Inside Doors

While washing my Edge this morning, I noticed some surface rust on the inside front corner of both rear doors. The area is where the external door metal is welded to the inside door metal about 2 inches in front of the door drain holes. It looks like water in this area has no where to go and can't drain to the plastic edging. Has anyone else seen this? I have my first oil change at the dealer next week (freeby) and thought it a good time to raise the issue.

Thx,

TL

rust - I have not seen this.. but if I follow you, it is something I complained about long ago here. a design flaw I would say as the plastic facia on the inside facing of the door holds water. ever notice after a rain or car washing when you open the door water splashes out? I narrowed it down to those fascias and they have a lip and design that catches the water and does not drain it off.. so it pools up... so viola :(

Not only does the plastic facia on the inside facing of the door hold water but also the lip at the bottom of the door sheet metal. Seems like such a simple design fix to remedy but before I take a file out I want the dealer's take and acknowledgement that it's their problem. If the color wasn't white sand, I doubt I would've noticed it.

I had the same issue on my Edge, both rear doors and hood catch, repaired under warranty and so far OK. I moved here from Finland and it is no wonder you have so much rust with all the salt you use. We dont bother with salt, good set of winter tires with studs works and you always know what the road surface is like, wont be wet until spring!
