"Whine"

I have had a new SEL AWD Edge for a month with about 800 miles on it now. I find that when driving between 40-45 mph I hear a low "whine". No such noise at any other speed. Have not heard this low level noise in any other Edge.

 

Does anybody have an idea what might be causing this???

Have not heard it in any other Edge? How many Edge's have you driven?

When i turn my radio off, or down a bit, i can hear a very faint high pitched noise - it usually drowned out when driving, but on idle you can just about make it out. It sounds a bit like an electrical static kind of noise you get from the radio - however turning the radio off doesnt stop it - no idea what it is, i will make the dealer aware when i take it in for the oil change in a couple of months unless i hear something else.

My Explorer had a whistling noise that sounded like it was coming from the radio - turns out it is the plastic engine intake and it was normal - iritating but normal.

For some reason, my high pitched noise only seems to come on in the morning - or at least turning off/down the stereo and fan i cant hear the noise later in the day.

I get this "whine" without the radio being on and it is just in the 40-45 mph range.

 

Actually I can live with it as long as it will cause no damage. But I am curious and concerned to know.

 

Really is a great vehicle.

The only unusual noise I have heard is when I have my heater on 3 or 4 and the position is both head and feet. I hear a strange noise...almost like a piece of paper is stuck somewhere in there. I will have them check it out when I get an oil change (very soon.)

 

I bet that thingy is why my mpg's aren't as good as sim's......lol!!! jk

Sschmit I also have the exact issue you're describing from my 2008 AWD Edge limited. Did you ever find out what was causing this?
