EDGE fuel pump noise Class Action Lawsuit

We have bought 8 vehicles from a Riverside California dealer, Fritt's Ford, over a number of years but now we've had a bad noise issue for over 1 year on our $42,000 2009 Edge and Fritts service WILL NOT fix it! It's under normal warranty and we even have the extended warranty. The issue is that it is an intermittent problem and it doesn't do it when we bring it in...of course. So, even though I describe the noise exactly...and btw, I am an engineer and know about technical issues like these...the problem is the fuel pump. I know it and the service manager even told me HE knows it...but unless the noise is present when I bring it in...THEY CANNOT OR WILL NOT REPLACE THE PUMP!!

I have spent hours discussing the issue with Director of Parts & Service Dick Popoff, Service Manager Kyle Klein, Shop Foreman Jim Cope, and customer relations representative Rebecca Hamilton, service writer Manny Perez, and even Ford's corporate customer relations manager. In fact, Manny Perez has heard the problem himself but since he is not a tech, Mr. Poppoff and company tells me that this isn't good enough!

I've contacted Ford's corporate customer relations manager to no avail. Same story....they won't replace the pump unless they can verify it is bad....regardless of how many times I have to bring it back to the shop!

Incidentally, the car is less than 2 years old and the noise started just a few months after we drove it off of the Fritt's Ford lot. Knowing it can be difficult to diagnose intermittent problems, I told my wife we should wait awhile until the fuel pump died. At the car's first anniversay, we couldn't take the noise anymore and took it to the dealer. That was the beginning. The noise is a high pitch about 12-15kHz...loud inside the car and even 3 or 4 feet away from the car.

The dealer and corporate give me no options other than continuing to bring it back over and over and over again until the noise occurs while the car is in their hands. We have already done this a number of times over the past year to no avail. The noise is there at least 50% of the time so I find it hard to believe they haven't been able to reproduce it. Research on this Forum shows that this is happening to many Edge's across the country yet Ford still fails to acknowledge the issue. They are willing to lose at least THIS customer for life over what likely costs them under $300 to repair.

Needless to say, I willl be taking legal action on this....but I am considering a class-action suit if there are enough Edge owners out there experiencing the same issue as is noted on this website. If interested in this please contact me at: unique@roadrunner.com

I read folks on here having to sell their Edge over this noise issue. WE shouldn't have to live with this noise on new cars and we should not let Ford get away with this denial to repair cars that are still under warranty!!
