jamers1
OK so I went to my local dealer today to catch a glimpse of the Dark Ink Blue I'm considering ordering for my '08 Edge. According to the dealer's website they had two '08 Taurus' (1 black and 1 blue). When I got there I only saw 2 black Taurus'. I asked the salesperson for assistance. She said they only had 2 blacks and no blues. On my way out I stared again at the black Taurus under covered area. I stepped closer...closer still....leaned in to within about 1 foot and low and behold, it was dark ink blue. It would have to be a pretty sunny day I think to bring out the blue in that paint color. Although I haven't seen the Light Ice Blue yet (currently on the '08 Escape and Taurus) I think I might be leaning towards that color instead. I'm not a fan of black and dark ink blue is much closer to back than it is to blue. Too bad the dealer didn't have any Ice Blues to preview but I think I will have to see both side by side in the direct sunlight to make my final decision. But you can bet 95 people of out 100 people will mistake ink blue for black. And with that in mind, it's not a pretty black either. My first impression was it wasn't black enough. Kind of like Steve Martin's tux in "Father of the Bride". On the flip side I was worried about the Ice Blue looking to feminine since I'm a macho beefcake and all (just kidding). However if it looks refined, classy and upscale like the Blue Metallic I've seen on the Lexus RX 330 then I can live with that. If you're considering ordering this color site unseen, don't. I highly advise you to preview it first on the Taurus. Edited July 11, 2007 by jamers1

Why make a color so dark you can't tell what color it is on a cloudy day? We bought a red one and like it, but a few more good choices would have been nice. The off white, tan, copper and red were the only colors we liked. Lucky for Ford that the Edge is such a nice truck that they could sell them if they were painted pink! That's the whole idea behind such colors. The color seems to change as the amount of light does. My first recollection of this type of paint was on the Dodge Intrepid when they were introduced. pianistic
I have the dark amythsus (can never remember how to spell that) and it looks black and I thought it was at the dealer. But, it is so cool, because so many people ask me what color it is. Also, the dark amythsus has lots of sparkle in the paint and you can see it when you are right on top of it in the sun. I wonder is the dark blue is the same way.

I'm anxious to see if the ink blue is the same.
Hardhawk
I saw a 2008 Taurus in Dark Ink Blue on Saturday. Looks like black with blue metalflakes in it. It was dusty, so could not get a 100% read but it was very sunny at the time. I personally did not care for it. Black with the camel interior looked far better IMO. But, some will prefer the dark blue. I really like the dark blue that is on the 2007 Lincoln MKZ much better, but that is being dropped for 2008 in favor of the Dark Ink Blue. Frankly, the Edge and MKX look good in all the colors. Saw a 2008 Taurus in the Light Ice Blue. If you like lighter colors, that was a very attractive one and would be far easier to keep looking good than a darker color.
