AllynEdge
I have a 2008 Edge Limited and both side rearview mirrors will only move outward and upward using the motor - they will no longer move inward or down. Has this happened to anyone else? I found a reference on here to it being a possible controller issue that is located under the driver's seat but no specific information. Does anyone have any specifics on this issues such as part number and how to replace the part?
Driverson22
I'm having this exact same problem right now. Did you ever get it resolved? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Wubster100
A similar problem happened to a 2007 MKX. The problem was that over time, water gets into the mirror control knob in the door when it’s raining and you open the car door. When I removed the switch and jumped it with wires, the mirrors worked, so I knew that I had a bad switch.
Driverson22
i replaced the switch with one that i got from a junk yard and it did the same thing. only move left and up but not right and down. im guessing i got a bad wire somewhere. How do i check the switch with a meter?
garycrist
I used to keep a supply of window/door switches in my tool box. The first thing I would do was to substitute my switch for theirs. The window motors on the rear doors, would "weld" the brushes to the armature and lock-up. So, exercise those rear windows from time to time to prevent that problem.
