Light Sage Green without the green

I would like to know how to contact someone at Ford to express how very unhappy I am with the color "Light Sage Green". I love everything about my car, except the darn color!!! There is absolutely no green anywhere in my paint - it is the color of pewter or primer. We ordered my car from the dealer, so hated to refuse it upon delivery as we had already refused the first one! (Didn't have one of the options I had specified.)

Have had it for 3 months now, and all I see is primer gray everytime I look at it. In the brochure at the dealer's, and also on the internet when the dealer pulled up the color, it definitely had a green tint which is absolutely non-existent in reality.:o

Thanks

BJ

Ya know... I test drove a light sage - and I liked the colour.. seen a few on the road around here.. I do catch a glimmer of green..

I will agree its not green or even close to a "minty" green - but it does not come across like silver to me.

Fortunately for me - during the colour selection process, I could drive down to FORD OAC where all Edges are parked and picked out my creme brulee.

For the life of me - I could never understand why the offered so much grey - alloy and pewter

But even the creme brulee pictured on Ford's site is NOTHING like the colour in person.

However, they must have listened to you - I believe there is no light sage for 2008

I think I would have refused delivery if I hated the color as you do...even if it was the second refusal. Actually, the Light Sage was our third choice of colors....first was Black, which we got....second was Redfire.

I too cannot understand their colors, or how far off the colors in the Edge brochure does not match the actual car color. I finally decided on a Dark Amethyst after seeing the color in the Edge brochure, but no-one had one. When they finally got one it, it looks almost black, not purple. As they had not blue ( i had a sonic blue Escape and Ranger before), i chose the only other normal color-redfire

Here's an article that sort of explains the color choices...

Don’t be surprised if the Ford salesman asks you “what’s your flavor?” when you come shopping for a Ford Edge.

The new Ford crossover comes in paint colors like Crème Brulee and Light Sage -- named for food and spices -- to make the job of selecting a paint color for a new Edge a little more delectable. It also marks a new push at Ford Motor Co. to tie vehicles in with societal trends such as America's zest for foods.

"There has been a lot of movement in the foodie culture," said Susan Lampinen, Ford group chief designer for color and materials. "There's the raw food movement, organic foods the slow food movement. What person today can't relate to food?"

Don’t come looking for a gray-green Edge. There won’t be any. The new Edge is offered in Light Sage though.

And what beige or camel or light brown paint color? The Edge is sold in Creme Brulee.

Looking for a rich, full-size SUV in white? How about a 2007 Lincoln Navigator painted in White Chocolate? Delicious hmmm?

And if ever there was a memorable, four-door truck, it's a 2007 Ford Explorer SportTrac in Orange Frost – doesn’t the name just remind you that cheery children's beverage made with orange sherbet?

Ford insists however, that safety, reliability, styling, performance and, lately, fuel economy, remain the top considerations for buyers – in spite of the fancy foodie names. Still, there's no denying that Ford is making the selection process for shoppers a lot more fun. And there’s more on the way.

I actually really like the Sage colour. Sometimes it looks silver and sometimes I can see a tint of green. I would of chose it or Blazing Copper myself.

We went Redfire though. Wife really liked it. She originally wanted Amethyst but when she saw it in person she was not so sure. We were on vacation and happened to see a Redfire Edge on a dealers lawn so we stopped and had a look. The wife was sold on the colour so the Amethyst was out. She thought the Redfire looked pinkish - doh!

Funny thing with the redfire is under street lights it looks like blazing copper. We were at a bar on the Patio the othe rnight and our Edge was across the street under a lamp. A friend with us pointed it out and said I thought your Edge was Red?. He truly thought it was orange. At night or when overcast it is a Burgandy and in direct sun sort of a pink tint.

Not sure what they had in mind with these colours but they all seem to change under different light conditions. Sort of a throw back to the psychadelic 70's.

That type of paint started becoming popular in the early 90's. The first generation Dodge Intrepid had 2 or 3 extra cost colors that appeared to be different in certain lighting conditions.

I. too, was surprised when I actually saw the Sage color on a real Edge ... it was more grey than I expected, and seemed to have only a very slight greenish or tannish tint depending on the light. But if you pull your bottle of sage spice out of the rack in your kitchen and compare the color, you'll see the basis of this Ford color. There isn't much, if any, green in the bottled stuff, either. It's not a bad color, it's just different than I expected.

(I went with Blazing Copper Metallic, and love it.)

:hyper: I picked the sage as I did not want just another run of the mill silver car, and we like the difference. :shades:

...wait until you see the 2008 clors...no food here just plain colors...what a shame to have so many choices in 07 and be so very limited in 08....THAT alone may sway some buyers to the competition...

Correct me if I'm wrong but the 4 new colors are in addition to the colors available on the '07. They are not replacement colors.
