  1. That's a priceless story..love it!
  2. Dreamss, you just reinforced why belonging to forums is so damned important! Kudos to you bud. Thanks for taking the time to photograph the hole in the adjuster too so it is crystal clear to anyone reading the post. (Like your sense of humour too!) Now to remember to stick a small allen key in the glovebox if and when I ever get mine.
  3. Shaky, I'm in the exact same boat as you. My MKX was built Nov 5. The dealer called and was told there was a hold placed on it preventing it from being shipped. He was not told why. I'm assuming it is a sync issue although that's just a guess. Have you had confirmation on what the issue is? Have you got an MKX on order or an Edge? The funny thing is the dealer had an MKX delivered to him that was built 2 weeks after mine. They did not place a hold on it. That owner has had a lot of problems with his screen not powering up. Do you have any news on when this issue will be resolved and the vehicles shipped? It's very, very difficult to get accurate info!
  4. I tried logging into the blue oval forum and it says they are going to a dedicated server. How long will they be down?
  5. I'm sorry...could you repeat that??!!?? hahahahahahhaaahahaah (Couldn't help myself on that one; it had to be done)
  6. Misinformation in what regard? I know for a fact it was built on Nov 5. I know when Sync was installed (it was the 2nd or 3rd if I recall). I know Cyberdman at the Blue Oval forum has checked the status 3 times for me and it is always the same. Released from the plant awaiting shipment. What did not make sense was why it would sit in a lot for over 2 weeks and not get shipped out. The dealer had an Edge that was ordered the same day as mine (Sep 30) that arrived last week. He has had issues with his screen blacking out on initial start up. Are they holding the Lincolns for some reason? I'm assuming it is to fix the sync issue. The only other alternative is that it has been severely damaged at the plant and they're trying to fix it. It could have easily been put on the transport truck that delivered the Edge that was shipped to Windsor last week. I think the dealer is correct. There is a hold on it. That's all he knows. He does not know why but suspects, as I do, it has to do with sync. As I learn more, I will post it here.
  7. Steve, on a completely unrelated topic, can you please post a pic of your Dachie...Mine has been gone now for about 5 years and I miss him a lot.
  8. I checked with the dealer today after getting the same response from cyberdman that my status is unchanged after 2 weeks. My MKX was built on Nov 5 and has not shipped for over 2 weeks. It only has 3 hours to go by truck. The dealer checked and there is a "Hold From Shipping" status placed on my vehicle. I believe it is to address the Sync update. I can understand that they don't want to release the vehicle prior to getting it right. It hurts them on JD Power studies and some of the other surveys on which they try to excell. If anyone else is experiencing delivery delays, this may be why. Doesn't make waiting for it any easier though... BTW, the other concern I had since some people have been getting delivery of Edges that were built after my MKX, is that it was hit and damaged in the lot. The dealer says Ford is obligated to disclose this if it is the case. Is that true or are they gonna try to hide it and deliver it "fixed"? I have a paint thickness gauge I will be employing on all the panels to test for paint repair when it comes in.
  9. No question that is the best way to do it. Just can't justify the $ for it at the moment.
  10. Most swirls in paint are caused by inappropriate washing techniques. Using a 2 bucket method with grit guards goes a long way to help reduce swirls. Another beneficial thing is to touch the paint as little as possible when drying. A simple way to do this is to sheet the paint with the hose after you have washed the car. It is a final rinse method. You let the water run freely from the hose and start at the top and work down. You will be amazed at how little water is left. I shot a short video of me sheeting my FX today after I washed it. The surface is protected with Cquartz, a nano glass sealant. See how very little water is left on the surface after I'm done. All I need to do is blot the surface to have it be completely dry.
  11. Good Lord man...what were they doing..washing it with a nuclear powered power washer?? WTF??
  12. Awesome! Did mine on Ffox too BTW. Thanks for the link!
  13. The clay bar actually shears off the top of the impurity on the paint. There is a new product called IRonX which can be sprayed on directly or another version is used like a soap, that actually removes the complete contaminent from the paint. It is great for wheels with the metallic brake dust. Compound flatens the surface of the paint. If you were to examine an extreme close up of the paint surface, it is not smooth at all but rather has little hills and valleys. Polishing and compounding smooths out the surface (as well as wet sanding). The smoother the surface, the better the reflection and shine. The wild card is the thickness of the clear. You don't want to remove too much at all. There are gauges available that measure the cc thickness so you have an idea of what you're working with. I have one and have been very surprised by the results sometimes. The end goal is to have a smooth finish. Clay will start you off, compound and polish will finish it.
  14. Awesome, thanks for the tip. The bloody thing was built 10 days ago, if they would only ship it to me!!!
  15. FYI, there is another way which someone had shared on this forum on a different thread that I read after posting mine. If you join the Blue Oval forum and make 10 posts, you can then go on the Ford Employee section to the VIV locator and an employee who works in Oakville does it on his own time. All he asks is that you follow his procedure and post a pic when you receive the car. He has given me 2 updates so far.

    Newbie

That seems pretty quick. Good for you. Mine was built on the 5th and I'm waiting for it to be shipped.
  17. Mambo Girl, I assume that is a dealer sponsored deal? The Lincoln program includes brakes and most maintenance items. I am going to run Amsoil synthetic so I would not take advantage of that particular offering anyway. The other stuff would be nice though.
  18. UPDATE: So I spoke with the sales manager today and he advised me that this is a US only program and it does not apply to Canadian Lincolns. He said they are selling too well for them to need to do it here.
  19. It says that the Engine idle can be increased when using the remote start. Quiet start enable or disables this function. I found this on page 106 of the online manual for the MKX, here: https://www.flmowner.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Owner/Page/OwnerGuidePage&year=2011&make=Lincoln&model=MKX Download version 2 of the manual.
  20. I wish I could, especially if I could avoid the destination charges.
  21. Shane, I ordered mine on Sep 30 (the last day of the sale).
  22. Wow, that looks amazing! It really adds to the vehicle as the before/after pic shows. The contrast with the white and the dark windows and lights is very cool.
  23. Congrats on your new ride! I have an 11 MKX on order which will hopefully arrive this week. I had AWD in my 04 FX35. I will never drive a car without it now. I had been looking seriously at the Hyundai Genesis but its lack of AWD killed it for me. Keep the shiny side up!
