I'm not sure if anyone on here has been unfortunate enough to drive through the paint they use for the lines on the road, but it is very nasty stuff to remove! I recommend a product called Tarminator made by Stoner. There are other tar removers out there too. The KEY is to get it off as soon as possible. Check this out...this is a 2010 GMC Pickup that drove through fresh road paint and got it all over the side of the vehicle. The worse part is that it had cured for a MONTH prior to them bringing it to me to fix: http://www.detailingbliss.com/forum/show-shine/21344-road-paint-overspray-2010-gmc.htm

Dealer installed DVD - your experience
richy replied to Hockey87's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
They no longer put them in at the factory although it was still listed as an option when I ordered mine in September. The dealer is putting it in. Mine was supposed to be done last Friday in fact, but the job took longer than the sales manager thought (6 hours) and I could not leave it that long and no loaner had been arranged. It's getting installed Wednesday and I have a loaner for the day. I'll take some shots and post them if you're interested. Let me know. -
You know, I hear a ticking noise from the engine when I go outside of it to get my mail. It's not very loud so I don't really care. I need to check my oil level to be safe though, a guy from out west has had some big time oil issues.

Well, gosh no. Of course you don't want to spill your beer while driving. <evil grin>

I bought one for my MKX. All the electronic stuff scares me. With my old Infiniti FX35, their ext warranty did not cover the things like the LASER guided cruise, etc. I was not concerned about the drivetrain. With Ford, the ext warranty covers everything. That's why I bought it. I got one for 7 years which is how long I keep cars on average. I paid $3100 I believe.

Boy, what a difference a day makes! Saturday we were in the high 30's and I washed the MKX in the driveway. Today we got a few inches of snow. Very wet and heavy snow. I had to go to the store. (I have 20" wheels and Pirelli Scorpions on it). I switched on the AWD readout and was having a blast playing silly bugger on the deserted streets. It's a great system. You can go too hot into a corner, straighten the wheel and gun it and it pulls out beautifully.

Well written, informative review. Thanks.

I was really excited about the prospect of getting HD radio. I love WRIF and WCSX and thought it would be so cool to have a 2nd channel from each of them. Boy, was I wrong. Yes, those channels are commercial free but the songs they tend to play on them are lame IMO. I find the regular FM stations sound just as good (in fact they sound awesome) so I don't hear an advantage there either. I am however, really enjoying the Sirius free 6 month subscription. I love the Lithium channel and several others. I have filled 2 of the 3 screens with channels I enjoy. So this is not what I expected. I am very pleased with the sound of the THX stereo too. I love playing the theme song for it for people too...it really shows off what the radio can do. I know there are some folks on here from Michigan. What's your thoughts on HD radio??

Shane, glad to hear your experience has been positive for the most part. Mine has been fantastic. I have the blue night light like everyone else but I just lock the door with the button on the outside handle and it shuts it off immediately. It is so quiet and so smooth compared to my FX. I could get really used to this, LOL. And the heated steering wheel?? Heavenly. I'm sure I'll be lovin the cooled seats in the summer too.

That's similar to the "brick" leather I had in my FX.

Carrie, I've been reading your posts about how your Sport drives in the snow with great interest. I was delighted to read how successfully your tires have been working for you. I have 20" Pirelli Scorpions M & S tires. So far, so good with those although today was the first snow it's driven in. People who drive in snow all the time respect it. Down our way, people forget what to do and try to get away with all the bad driving habits that dry pavement will allow whereas once the traction (coefficient of friction) decreases, then they're in trouble. I had 18" Bridgestones on my FX that were absolute garbage in the snow. I am looking forward to better handling.

You made a great decision as for the vehicle. They are gorgeous! As far as winter tires are concerned, it really depends on where you live. There is a misnomer that "snow" tires which term is interchanged with winter tires are only for snow. All season tires are a compromise at best. The rubber compound gets too hard and inflexible at under about 40 degrees. Your tires are what connect you to the road. If you plan on keeping the car for a while, invest in a 2nd set of wheels with winter tires and you will never have an issue. Just respect the laws of physics. Newton takes offence when people try to mess with his 3rd law, LOL. I was in collision reconstruction for 5 years (investigated fatal collisions), so I've had a lot of training and experience with tires.

Akirby, congrats on becoming a mod. I am a mod on the detailing site L2D. It can be a thankless job. You have my thanks for stepping up.

My only issue, which admittedly is a very small one, is the blue night light. That is easily remedied if I lock the doors with the outside button on the door handle. Love the car otherwise. Not for this section, but I wish the back doors opened about 5 degrees more. It's hard to get the kids buckled in their car seats.

Burtman, I've had that type of key for 7 years, never had an issue with it. What are you concerned about? And, what, are you stuck in the 80's wearing tight-ass jeans or something?? :stop:

Shane..I just added mine too. I see there is another one in Essex County as well. Cool.

Autoclimate Control Issue?
richy replied to GreenDragon68's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I gotta say, I LMFAO when I read that. I've been married for 20 years. It's good to know some things are universal. At least she finally got it! -
I hate it when the naysayers win..please stick around.

It's gorgeous!! Good for you...now go tint those front windows!!

Anyone know what this "1 Warning" means?
richy replied to e-Mel's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I was going to say low fuel too, given what the gauge is reading. -
Welcome and congrats on your future ride.

Wilson, that was it!! Thanks so much!

I have to say I am very pleased with mine. No iphone4 issues, no issues of any type. They did hold it at the factory to do the update to it; I'm glad they did. I wish the back doors opened a bit wider, but other than that, I really can't fault the vehicle.

My radio was not showing song artists or titles and I went into the the radio options and turned the "RDS" options on. Now, it just shows the song title in the bottom right corner, but only when the Menu screen is on. With Sirius, it does not show it at all. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for posting that. I only use FFox on my home computers but the wife's work laptop has IE. I may have to do it on hers.
