  1. Try any auto parts store, they all should carry a bug and tar remover.
  2. To each his or hers own. There are a lot of people here who will try to kill any dream you have, it is your money and not theirs so do what you wish.
  3. Personally I do not think so since it is the programming system that would have to be modified. Does the 2011 Limited Have an alarm? My 2011 SE does not but I added one. What is wrong with locking the doors on the way out? Also Ford sells an alarm that is integrated into the key so no new fob would be needed.
  4. 6th gear. It was like idling at HWY speeds.
  5. Yeah my Garmin Streetpilot's both have these but I never used them.
  6. Cough... Cough... Bull Sh%# I got to call you out. No way you can get gains like this off a filter change, maybe 1 to 2 mpg at the best, at the very best. I am guessing the stock filter was so clogged and full of debris that just by changing it with any new filter could of yielded these results.
  7. You sure all vehicles? I got a constant MPG in my 2001 Corvette between 55 and 75 mph, the only time it changed is when I was racing or heavy on the pedal. It also didnt change when I had my Motorcycle, got a constant 54mpg. Both are vehicles.

    "Engine Oil Life"?

Use the left buttons on the steering wheel and scroll down to system check. Since you got a 2011 you should have an owners manual that will show you in depth how to find this info also.
  9. If you do not have an extended powertrain warranty you still think they will fix it for free? Most people do not buy the extended warranty's.
  10. I was getting an average 18MPG when I bought it new with 100 miles on it (dealer Trade), now with over 5000+ miles on it is is bouncing between 23 and 24MPG. I have read and been told new cars need a computer break in time approx 5000 miles to figure out your driving habits and just for engine wear break in so they both work well together. Also If I maintain 55MPH the average stays high, when I go over 65MPH the average is worse. Seems to me this Edge is tuned for best economy at 55MPH cause that is where I average the best MPG. All figured out with a calculator at fill ups. They are doing consturction by me so I am forced to go 55MPH now for 1/2 of my trip, it used to be 65MPH all the way. Also the temp is getting hotter and cars run leaner when hot so that probably has a lot to do with my MPG gain. Colder air runs richer burns more fuel.

    "Engine Oil Life"?

In "System Check" is where I found mine. 63% at 5220 miles.
  12. If it came on the vehicle brand new the insurance company should have to replace it with the exact type of shield because you paid for insurance on that model.
  13. It would be nice to have the install included in our owners manual.
  14. The ad does not have to be that big, smaller ads can be posted on the site. This site has the biggest AD I have ever seen on any forum!
  15. Wont happen. I did the same thing on my 1992 Mustang and never had an issue and my system was 6" off the ground with a home made ram air scoop along with a paxton 5lb supercharger attached at the other end. Only issue you would have as if the entire thing was submerged at full throttle and that would be iffy cause you can run a little water through your engine with no problem. People used to do this in the past to remove carbon. In the Corvette community there is a fresh ram air system called "Vararam" People always assume you will get water ingestion with this unit too Some claim they have and others say impossible. Fact is every car is susceptible to this in deep enough water. I had it on on my 2001 Corvette and no issues driving at HWY speeds in heavy rain.
  16. Even though shocks may not be leaking outside they may be leaking internally. The best test for shocks is...... Park the car on a level surface. Push down on the bumper or fender on one corner of the car. Stand back and allow the body to rise back up. If the body bounces more than once, the shock absorber on that corner of the car may be worn. Repeat this procedure for the other three corners of the car to check the other shocks. Crawl under the vehicle and visually inspect the shock absorbers for leaking oil. Check the shock mounting brackets and bolts to ensure that they are not loose or broken. Check for excessive corrosion or deformation in the shock body, which would warrant replacement of the shocks. Check the tread on the tires for patchy wear or worn spots, which would indicate the wheel is not staying in complete contact with the road over bumps because of worn shocks. Also have somebody drive it for you on the highway above 55MPH, watch the tires bounce, if it is excessive they are bad. My Windstar has 138,000 miles on the original shocks and struts with no external leaks but it bounced like hell all over the road. I just replaced them and it is like driving a new car. I normally replace my shocks and struts at or around 75,000 regardless but there were other things money needed to be spent on the past few years.
  17. Pretty sure shocks are also wear items not covered but I am not sure.

    MPG

With all these new cars out there I dont see why we need special blends of gas anymore.
  19. I wish there was a write up like this for the 2011 edge.
  20. Best is a dyno tune, second is the programmer that plugs into the system and downloads new software..... everything else is junk. A dyno tune will give you the best and a custom tune, what is better about it is if you add anything to the car like exhaust, intake or fuel system a dyno tune will tune it properly to be the most efficient because it monitors the hp gains at the tires and exhaust to determine the correct tune to program your computer. Even if your car is 100% stock a dyno tune will be better than a programmer cause every car even though is built the same runs different. A tuner that just plugs into your system has a predetermined software that does not know if you changed anything nor monitors the exhaust to see how everything is running together, no exhaust check or hp check at the tires.
  21. It is hard to tell typical problems for a 2011 Edge since it has only been out less than a year. Yes I know it is almost the same Edge as the 2010 but the Engine is 100% different along with the interior.
  22. I have been told it is not a performance car on this forum so that is why there are no performance shocks.

    MPG

I been hovering around 23MPG right now.
  24. I doubt any MFG would use an oiled filter because the consumer based market is all about throwing away or replacing parts, people would simply complain they would have to clean it and most people couldnt even do an easy task like cleaning a filter, heck most cant even change a tire!
  25. Like I said explain why the Explorer got a constant gain in MPG when the wife did not even know I did anything to the vehicle?
