UPDATE: I've had the retro kit in for 2 months and I did discover a problem with the kit. It contains a very cheap fuse holder that does not hold the fuse tight enough, therefore causing arcing and failure. I replaced this part with a much better fuse holder and a 30amp plug in circuit breaker. Other then that, the kit seems quality and the light output ( 55w) is outstanding! I'll give another update in a few months, I'm still recommending this kit, but be sure to replace the fuse holder or request one from Todd..... -
2011 Edge Sport rust spots on front doors
yogregb replied to daconfusion's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
As far as I can tell , all 2011 are going to have this issue. It is a poor design but easily fixed. I sealed mine with clear silicone problem solved I then added a thin 1 inch wide rubber seal to cover the ugly door sheet metal, again an easy fix.. when I did that recent Ford research event recently I sure pointed out this issue to engineers and they took pics...I then told them how I was going to fix it... I will post pics later...... On a similar note I have also addressed the issue of water and dirt easily entering and soiling that entry sill/runner area, again with the use of an additional seal under the doors...pics to follow.... -
I like it better without the chrome strips.... you could plastic-dip the front grill to make it chip resistant:yup:

Guys, everything in moderation... smoking the lights nearly black is idiotic for sure. On the other had a light smoke job, going from red to dark red looks cool ,yet does not compromise safety, common sense bros.... :shades: forgot to mention, that products like VHT nite shades are formulated to let light pass thru, whereas standard light coats of regular black paint do not, FYI....

Sorry you guys have had troubles with these kits. I bought mine on here because there were some good reviews, we will see I guess. I've had no problems yet. I don't know if they upgraded their kits, but mine had good quality plugs,relays,fuses...can't see inside a ballast, but overall looked quality and I 've been a RV tech for 30 years with a fair amount of electrical experence.... If mine turns to crap,

Being asked to participate in R&D for FORD
yogregb replied to yogregb's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
Got confirmed today, going Mar.20th for 2 hours. They said that engineers ride along in your vehicle and observe driving styles and operation of various controls, easy 150.00! -
I thought about finding a small Ford emblem, you know those raised, embossed stickers kinda things, like on key chains. That would cover it nicely and yet peel off easily and be re- applied. Anyone want to search????

Just great! I remember seeing the Beatles on Ed Sullivan and that disney hour every Sunday evening.... We live in a great age, but if I could be frozen in a time period it would be the fifties for me, seems the world was a much kinder/ safer place....

Average life span is 5 years for me, the cars last, as I tend not to put a lot of miles on vehicles, ( avg 6k per year) I just get tired of them and want something new!:yup:

Hey guys, just installed my retro solutions 5k Hid kit over the weekend, and all I can say is, what a night and day difference, literally!!! Only thing I would suggest is a 3m double side tape option for the mounting of the ballists Really impressed with the light output and color, brilliant white, I highly recommend this kit, and Todd was very helpful... best 130.00 bucks spent!:hyper: Will update later with pics....

I stand corrected on the FORD tow option. Coming from the RV industry ,we can put a hitch on just about anything, and yes GVWR and tire ratings must be considered ...
