  1. Interesting, I really hope this is true. :beerchug:
  2. I'd be willing to bet that the people that aren't having any issues either don't know enough about technology to know how it supposed to work or they are only using the very basic features and not doing anything "advanced" with it. Try to find me one technically inclined person who's happy with their MFT system.
  3. This is exactly what I'm concerned about. Ford knows they completely messed up our version of MFT and now they're focusing their efforts on getting it right the second time. So what incentive do they now have to put much time (money) into fixing our systems? A: Extremely little. My guess is they'll push out a few updates here and there to make it look like they're "working on it" and get some people to stop complaining, but we'll probably be forced to live with a slow and buggy system in the end, since it's built on junk software to begin with. I can guarantee I am not going to let that happen since it's already going in for it's 2nd repair/upgrade next week, which means I only have two more to go before it's a Lemon.
  4. I haven't received a letter from Ford. I haven't received an email from Ford. No phone calls, faxes, official statements, txt messages, etc, etc. And no, syncmyride.com did not tell me about any updates and continues to not tell me about the latest v2.8 update. Any information I have regarding anything about the MFT issues or updates that are available I have only because I put forth the effort and I took the information to my dealer and said "do this." That is completely unacceptable after purchasing a >$40,000 vehicle that they damn well knew had a whole pile of MFT issues.
  5. Interesting to hear something from an "inside" source but not surprising in the least. The fact that Ford hasn't come out, acknowledged the problems, and committed to fixing them is what really gets me. For what it's worth, I'm going to start documenting everything wrong with my MFT system along with all of my interactions with my dealer so that I can use my state's Lemon Law, if Ford decides to hang us out to dry.
  6. Very nice! I like that ride height with the 20in wheels. How do the H&R extreme springs ride? Did you replace the shocks?
  7. Notice they said 80% satisfied with SYNC, which is not necessarily the MyFord Touch SYNC system. Just saying "SYNC" could mean every SYNC equipped vehicle ever made. Technically it's probably not a false statement, although it is misleading. I can't imagine anywhere close to 80% of people that use the MFT system every day are satisfied with it.
  8. Please post up some pictures! And a video when you get a exhaust installed.
  9. I think I figured out how to get better mileage. We recently had a decent snow storm and I had to do a lot of driving that day. Since everyone slows down during the snow I was only able to go between 45 and 55mph on the highways and I noticed that I was averaging about 23 mpg by the end of the day. So, if you want better gas mileage keep it under 55!!! Which bring up an interesting point. How exactly are the EPA estimates calculated? There's no way they were going over 60 or 65 and got anywhere close to 25mpg in the Edge.

    Engine noise

My 2001 VW Jetta 1.8T (which my brother is still driving) had this noise, my 2008 VW GTI 2.0T had this noise, and my 2011 Edge has this noise. I'm not too concerned about it.
  11. I've also noticed that the sound quality of the sirius radio is horrible, to the point that I don't enjoy listening to most music on there. To a much lesser extent, I can also hear compression artifacts on most of the HD FM channels around here too. I'm dissappoint.
  12. I haven't seen over 19mpg for a tank yet. I drive >80% hwy and <20% city. I did take one trip of a couple hundred highway miles and managed about 19.8mpg. Looking on Fuelly, it looks like the 2011s are having a tough time coming close to the 25mpg (or 27 for FWD) rating: http://www.fuelly.com/car/ford/edge/2011 I'm hoping this is just a combination of winter gas, cooler weather, and not being fully broken in yet... although I'm not very optimistic.
  13. In my experience, the traction control seems to only become very noticeable if the vehicle starts to go sideways. I've had this happen several times when trying to "slide" around a snowy corner. Half way through the turn I'd lose all power, which is quite annoying when there is traffic coming at me. It's not like I was goofing around either. I was just turning and giving it a little gas so the AWD could pull it out straight, then bam, no power at all for a second or two. Other than that scenario, I have found the AWD and traction control to be outstanding so far. Although, I haven't ascended many steep hills yet.
  14. I've been having problems with my phone not connecting via bluetooth since the day after I got my Edge, which my dealer is well aware of. I got the latest updates installed by the dealer a couple weeks ago and the phone worked for a day and then wouldn't connect, again. I informed the dealer and received a call from their "SYNC expert" a couple days later. After chatting with him for a few min it became obvious he had almost no clue about the system and when he figured out that I knew way more about it than he did, he couldn't get me off the phone fast enough. I like that discount idea!!! I mean, we are basically doing Ford's and Microsoft's system testing for them, which obviously should have been done before any vehicles were delivered. But we all know how likely it would be to receive a check and a letter saying, "Thanks for doing our jobs for us! Here's some beer money!"
  15. Just thought I'd share my experiences so far. I bought my Edge the last week of Dec and had the Gen 2 update applied at the dealer on Friday. I dropped it off in the morning and they called me at about 2pm to say it was taking longer than expected because the tech was having trouble downloading the files and getting things to work. They then called at 5:30 to say it was finished. The tech put in over 7hrs (!!!) to do an update on one vehicle. So far I haven't really noticed a big difference in the MFT's operation at all. My phone was able to connect via Bluetooth and it worked for about a day. BT audio and phone calls were great.... for a day (although, the phonebook still didn't work). Now it will no longer connect even if I delete it and add the phone again, just like before the update. Also, the responsiveness of the MFT is about the same as it was before, sluggish. Push a button: sometimes it works right away, sometimes it waits a couple of seconds and then registers, and sometimes it doesn't do anything. Very annoying. I checked syncmyride.com and it does show that a whole bunch of updates were applied while it was at the dealer, however I cannot get the status checker application to work. It installs to my USB drive and seems to work when I put it in the vehicle and "install" it, but when I try to report the results back to the website it gives me an error and says to try it again, which I have done about 5 times. Being in the IT industry, my personal opinion on this whole implementation from the SLOW and buggy MFT software, to the techs at the dealer either not knowing what to do or having problems with the process, to the crappy syncmyride.com website, to the lack of user feedback/support options, is just disbelief. I know early adopters of technology usually have to deal with some minor headaches, but this whole thing really seems broken from the ground up. I really hope Microsoft and Ford are working on an update that will actually fix the problems because I will have a very difficult time paying almost $40k for a vehicle that doesn't work as advertised. In fact, that's what lemon laws are for and I'm glad my state has a good one if I need it.
  16. Found these pictures online (not mine): Limited SEL
  17. I have a 2011 Edge Limited AWD and it has been outstanding in the snow and ice so far in the couple weeks I've owned it. The traction control seems top notch and isn't very intrusive at all. Coming from a FWD VW (that would severely cut power and activate the ABS at the drop of a hat), the difference in low traction situations is night and day. I am very happy with my AWD Edge. :happy feet: I haven't driven through any real deep snow yet but it's handled a copuple inches of the super slippery brown slushy stuff and an ice/rain storm very well. I also considered an Audi Q5 (Quattro is standard) and had a chance to test drive that in similar conditions and I can say the Edge did much better.
  18. Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. Guess I was looking in the wrong part of the forum... :P
  19. Can you please point me to them? I've been searching for a while and all I can find are threads complaining about this is broken and that is slow and then some people chime in with "there's an update available". I have found very little information from people who have actually had the update installed.
  20. Please share your thoughts and experiences here. Did the dealership know how to actually do the upgrade? Did the upgrade fix any of the issues? Did the upgrade cause any other problems?
  21. Dang it, do you know where I can find any speaker and subwoofer info for the Sony system?
  22. Holy smokes that's crazy! Looks like fun! :shades: Do you have any pictures of the stock speakers and subwoofer? I haven't been able to find any information online.
  23. Does anyone know if it's possible to tether my phone's 3G connection to the wifi in the Edge? So that passengers could use their laptops to browse the internet, for example.
