  1. Agreed 100%. We paid a LOT of money for these vehicles and we have every right to be upset until we have a system that ACTUALLY WORKS.
  2. Well, the snow that you'd be driving through would create a decent amount of resistance, depending on how deep it is, so I'd imagine your mileage would go down.
  3. So I came across this guy's website while searching MFT articles and it seems that the rewrite is still using Flash. It also sounds like Ford again contracted the work out to other companies, Teleca and Wild Card Ventures LLC, instead of doing it in house. http://www.jeffjoneslive.com/MyFord-Touch-Sync.asp Any ideas on what's going on here? Did Ford not learn their lesson the first time??

I've been able to "fix" mine by resetting it (pulling / replacing fuse #29) and it will work for 2-3 weeks, before failing again. Hopefully an actual fix will come with the new upgrade next year.
  5. I'd imagine the mileage for the 2012 is the same as 2011 since nothing major has changed. The AWD is considered full-time (since there's no way to disengage it) but technically it doesn't route power to the rear wheels unless it senses wheel slippage, so most of the time by far it's a FWD vehicle dragging around a few hundred extra pounds of AWD equipment. However, if you need the AWD it's an awesome system on the Edge. It was very sure-footed last winter in all of the snow we got, I was very impressed. As far as mileage, I get about 19 city / 22 mixed / 24-25 hwy with my AWD. You can check what others are getting in the "real world" on Fuelly: http://www.fuelly.com/car/ford/edge Edit: here's my Fuelly badge:
  6. As your car sits, especially when it's damp or raining outside, a very thin layer of corrosion will form on your rotors. The squealing you hear is just the pads cleaning off the rotors' braking surface. Once the layer of corrosion is gone it stops squealing. This is completely normal behavior.
  7. My feeling is that the only thing a CAI would do is increase the sound of your engine and lighten your wallet. Ford already managed to get quite a bit of power out of a 3.5L / 3.7L v6. I don't think adding a tube and air filter will help much.
  8. Diesel engines (almost always) have a turbocharger, which can fairly easily produce a lot more hp by increasing the boost pressure a few psi and advancing the ignition timing a little. A naturally aspirated gas engine such as ours does not have a lot of room at all to produce more power without adding forced induction. The Edge was simply not built for towing. There's not a lot of torque down low and with its tall gearing it doesn't work the greatest for pulling a large trailer on the highway, as you've discovered. Ford designed the Edge to give the best gas mileage possible for a larger SUV-like vehicle and towing was not on the list of priorities. I think you'd be better off trying to make your trailer more aerodynamic rather than trying to increase the Edge's hp. Maybe something like this?? http://www.nosecone.com/appull.htm
  9. Dang, that wasn't much of a review, even for engadget. I was hoping for at least a video or something.
  10. I couldn't agree more, netizenX. I'm glad Ford is FINALLY coming out with what is hopefully an actual fix, but for those of us that have been dealing with this for a while the damage is already done.
  11. As Dingo mentioned, option for option, the Edge is definitely less expensive. However, the Explorer offers a couple options that you can't get in the Edge, such as 3rd row seating and cooled seats.
  12. The muffled sound you're hearing may not be the speakers or the system itself. It could be sound artifacts that come from compressing a digital audio signal. I've noticed that several local FM stations sound pretty awful when I have HD (digital) radio turned on. The compression artifacts are even more prominent on Sirius stations. I can't even listen to most music on Sirius because it sounds so bad to me. To see if the poor sound you're hearing is due to compression try putting in an actual real CD (not one you made on the computer) and listen to that for a little while. If the poor sound goes away, replacing speakers isn't going to help at all.
  13. Lol, we've been beta testing for the last year!
  14. I used a 5mm spacer but you could probably get away with a 3 or even possibly a 2mm. When I test fitted the wheels without a spacer, they just barely rubbed the calipers in the front. The rear was fine.
  15. Excellent news. I'm glad Ford actually came out with a press release. Now let's hope this overhaul actually fixes the annoying problems for good.
  16. You can get cooled seats in the new Explorer.
  17. I'm actually sporting some 20in SHO wheels on my 2011 at the moment since the center bore on the 2011+ is the same size as the Taurus. The only problem was that they barely rubbed on the front brake caliper so I had to get some small spacers. I'll try to get some pics up at some point.
  18. If you go in to get an update, print out this letter and bring it with to make sure they don't charge you: http://www.donlen.com/uploadedFiles/Home/Resource_Center/Industry_Recalls_and_Notices/R10B20.pdf
  19. If the offsets are similar (2mm is nothing), then the only thing I'd be concerned about is the center bore. IIRC, the 2007-2010 Edges have a rather large hub diameter, meaning that most likely the center bore on OEM Mustang wheels is smaller and might not fit.... but check it out to make sure. Found the thread: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/5999-2011-edgemkx-hub-size/
  20. I took it to the local tire shop. They installed the sensors and I watched them reprogram them with their hand-held scanner tool, it was pretty slick.
  21. The 2011s have valve sensors. I just replaced my wheels and used these and so far they work just fine: http://www.tpmsoutlet.com/OSC-0315.aspx
  22. The only thing you should take away from your dyno runs is that you increased your HP by about 19%, which is pretty darn good. Unless the dyno has been calibrated recently those numbers are not much more than rough estimates.
  23. Welcome! You should be able to check what version you have by signing up and registering your VIN at http://www.syncmyride.com/ I would also guess that the dealer did not go out of their way to apply the latest patch, which reminds me I need to get that done. I'm on v2.8 and still having a bunch of problems.
  24. Very cool! Thanks for sharing! Are those OEM HID headlights? How does the color compare? Looks pretty close in the picture.
