  1. If tuned correctly, it could be a decent fit in the Edge. When I was vehicle shopping I drove an Audi Q5 with their 2.0T and was actually very surprised at how much I didn't hate it. Granted, it was mated to an excellent 8 speed automatic trans and Audi has been turbocharging engines forever, but if Ford tunes their new 2.0T correctly and adjusts the shift points to keep it in the torque curve, it will suck a lot less than you might think.
  2. I think the operating temperature specified on a USB drive is the optimal temperature range to get the maximum amount of life out of it. I'm sure it will work just fine in cold weather. Maybe the overall life of the drive will be shortened by a little bit, but they're so cheap I don't think it matters too much. I haven't had problems with mine yet and it's been through one very cold winter here.
  3. Why did you buy it if so may things bother you about it?
  4. I love those white Sport models. Looks great!!
  5. Very nice! The 90deg elbow is a great idea to add a little more volume to the enclosure. I'd like to do something similar once I actually have some time. The factory sub is just OK on my 2011 Limited. Once you turn up the volume a little bit, the low end completely falls flat.
  6. It would be interesting to do some used oil analyses and see how closely they match up with the % oil life number. I'm not sure what kind of oil it's filled with from the factory, but a quality synthetic can easily go 15k miles between changes.
  7. For me, being an IT guy actually makes the MFT problems worse because I know the reasons we're in this situation to start with. Ford was probably trying to cut costs and/or bring it to market too quickly so they contracted the work out to BSQUARE, who does what every software vendor that I've ever worked with does, and makes a mess of the whole thing. The other thing that kills me is the complete lack of communication. If some project I'm working on has a lot of problems, the last thing I do is keep my customers in the dark about it. They want to know exactly what the issues are, what's being done to fix them, and when it will be completed. The only way I find out about any sort of MFT updates is by coming to this forum and reading about what others have been getting installed. My dealer has no clue about what or when updates come out and the syncmyride.com website has been absolutely worthless. I'd also like to be able to use all of this system's features, like the wifi hotspot, but at this point I just want my damn phone to work as it's supposed to. I've been on v2.8 for a few months now and although it is better than what I started with, it still has a LONG way to go. My most annoying day to day issue is the phone either not connecting or when it does, it doesn't always transfer the audio to the speakers during a call. So I'll call someone or answer a call and it's a 50/50 chance as to whether I'll have to fumble around and dig my phone out of my pocket or if it will come through the speakers. And it's all random - there's no rhyme or reason for when it works and when it doesn't. I know it's not my phone because right after the system crashes and resets itself (every 2-3 weeks), the phone connection will work perfectly for a few days and then go right back to intermittently working / not working. Anyway, as you've read, I like the vehicle otherwise but I'm starting to get very frustrated with paying as much money as I did and then being left in the dark about when or if these issues will be fixed.
  8. I was also interested in this and came across this thread from a Flex forum: http://www.fordflex.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3653 In short, they might fit but you need to be aware of possible hub size differences. According to this thread, your hubs might be larger than the Flex's.
  9. Mine definitely has this behavior, although it's not extremely noticeable. I have found that if you depress the accelerator even just a tiny bit, it will coast as you would expect. I haven't driven an automatic vehicle for a while so I just thought this was normal behavior.
  10. Hm, interesting. Hopefully they're doing some updates to it to actually make the site somewhat useful.
  11. Was it sitting on a dealer's lot for any amount of time? If so, the battery is probably bad and needs to be replaced. Had this happen to a used vehicle I purchased a little while ago.
  12. Just crack the front windows a little. This is perfectly normal.

    throttle delay

Not sure if the previous model years have this, but I've been using my "manual" gear selector for this purpose in my '11. As others have said Ford most definitely programmed the shift points to try to get the maximum gas mileage out of this large vehicle, which doesn't always provide the best driving experience.
  14. Man those Sports look good, especially in white. The phone problems are probably due to the crappy MFT software. I've been having very similar issues with my phone off and on since I bought my Edge in Dec. The USB issue could also be related to the awful software but may also be a hardware issue. Try resetting your MFT (pulling fuse 29) a few times over the course of a couple days and see if that helps. If not, definitely take it in to get looked at.
  15. Just curious, where is this information coming from? Any idea on ETA?
  16. Mine also took about 6qts when I changed it recently.
  17. Actually it is, at least according to the salesman that sold me my Edge and Ford's website: Having previously owned a couple vehicles with manual transmissions I knew this was just marketing crap, and it obviously doesn't come close to the same experience. However, I was happy I found at least a couple uses for it.
  18. You are able to shift through all 6 gears assuming your speed is appropriate, i.e. you can't shift into first at 60mph nor 6th at 20mph. I also thought I'd never use the manual mode but after driving for a while I have found a couple uses for it, like downshifting on a steep grade or making sure it holds a gear while entering a freeway (instead of having it up-shift too soon). Other than that I don't use it very often.
  19. Here's a good start: http://www.bbb.org/us/auto-line/state-lemon-laws/ http://www.autopedia.com/html/HotLinks_Lemon.html Have you pursued this any further? I will be in the same situation if Ford doesn't decide to actually fix this very soon.
  20. Ah, it looks like the filter changed for the '10+ models and is now a M1-212, which I can't find anywhere.
  21. I've had mine since Dec and I like almost everything about it... except for the awful MFT software. I just got v2.8 installed on Fri last week and it's now much worse than when I was on v2.4.
  22. Have you been able to find one anywhere? I ended up getting the K&N filter.
  23. Fram sucks. Go with Wix/Napa, K&N, or Motorcraft.
  24. I got v2.8 installed at the dealer on Friday. I tested everything I could after I picked it up and before I left the dealership. Everything seemed like it worked and there was definitely an increase in the responsiveness. I was really looking forward to leaving these problems behind. The following day my phone stopped connecting AGAIN. I had to try about a dozen or more times across several trips in the vehicle before I could get it to connect again. Today when I put it in reverse, the screen went black. I turned off the engine at the end of the block, waited a min, and restarted it. I then got the "performing system maintenance" screen, and it started up normally afterward. This is REALLY starting to get aggravating.
