  1. Many insurance policies in Ontario will forgive an accident if you have been accident free for 5 years so check your policy. If you are dealing with a good broker you should be able to talk to the principle who may be able to provide better advice "off the record" but if you're with a discount direct brokerage this approach wouldn't work. As to the costs, be prepared to be shocked. We had what sounds like similar front end damage 4 years ago to our escape that ran to $20k as a result of a winter storm. Vehicle looked perfect from the sides & back except for the hood that was up a bit but it was still a right off. Hopefully you were going slow enough that the damage isn't as severe. If you financed or leased you may have to notify them as well. Leases very often restrict who can do repairs. Good luck!
  2. So on Sept 17th I upgraded to 2.11 and MFT started behaving itself much better apart from weekly "system maintenance" restarts but nothing I couldn't live with. On Nov 24th I took it into the dealership for a number of minor but annoying tech issues (wipers, ACC, BLIS) and they reloaded 2.11 but ever since it is doing daily "system maintenance" restarts and the tech faults are still there! On Sunday MFT starts acting really crazy, very slow to respond, wouldn't update the screens properly, complaining about GPS faults every minute. I disconnected my iPod and was hoping it would do the "system maintenance" restart thing but after half a dozen short trips yesterday it wouldn't do it on its own so I resorted to crawling around in the slush this morning and pulled fuse 29. This new version can't come soon enough. With the GPS fault almost continuously displayed it was very distracting to try use MFT for anything as you had to acknowledge the fault and then hope to get in the required button responses before the slow response and GPS fault blocked what you were trying to do.
  3. Shortly after I started dealing with MFT I was trying to browse music on my iPod and at one point MFT thought I had more than 2 USB devices connected. I didn't and it hasn't done it since but this leads me to believe that if you tried a USB hub it would probably work.
  4. +1 If you don't have to deal with MFT issues please don't tell us how we should feel.
  5. My upgrade from 2.4 took almost exactly 45 minutes. Initially this is looking much better. The car is starting to act like the one I ordered. Problems I've see that appear fixed are voice recognition doesn't work at all when driving - fixed with MFT 2.11 navigation doesn't provide turn by turn directions anymore, just chimes - fixed with MFT 2.11 generally very sluggish - better with MFT 2.11 4 way flashers won't com on - fixed with MFT 2.11 still waiting to see if these are gone as they were more intermitent navigation will lose GPS while driving - vehicle must be restarted to clear nav display orients at an odd angle and vehicle position doesn't track on roads rearview camera sticks on bluetooth hangs when trying to place call within 5 minutes of starting vehicle system performs "scheduled maintenance" fairly regularly while driving keeps losing pairiing with Blackberry Torch
  6. Was this online or did you have to call them? I just went to their site and couldn't see anything longer than 3 years.
  7. In business a company is judged by results not efforts although I share the view that Ford is coming up short on both counts. Many of us are long term Ford customers and truly want the car experience that was sold to us but with MFT Ford marketing has written a cheque that the rest of the organization has been unable to deliver on.
  8. This is the reason behind my screen name. April thru October you're more likely going to find me in this than my shiny new Edge
  9. i believe that you can buy ESP anytime before your factory warranty expires.
  10. Looks great! You can link to pictures in your own galley using the little insert image icon in the post message box header. Just get the address of the picture in your gallery by right clicking on the imageselecting properties and the coping the address. You then paste this address into the insert image dialog box. like this
  11. You might be able to get a US phone number through skype or vonage that would keep the website happy enough to let you register
  12. Your post prompted me to check Ford's website and the list price difference between the base SE & the base SEL with tow package is $6,500 or close to $7,400 with taxes. There are a couple of other considerations. - at 1900 lbs you are at a little over half of the tow capacity of the vehicle - boats tend to more aerodynamic than a lot of other trailers - the tow package would have been designed so that you can safely tow in all seasons in North America. We don't see the same high temperatures in Canada that you would see in the southern US. - a transmission cooler should be relatively inexpensive to add if you are concerned about the temps where you live.
  13. Does anyone know what the other differences between Job 1 & Job 2 are? Mine was built Feb 8 so I assume that it is Job 2.
  14. I have a similar high pitched sound that I can hear outside the vehicle when idling. It's on my list to ask the dealer about when/if i have to take it in for something else. After 3 weeks, apart from the MFT system rebooting a few times and a growing frustration with the voice recognition i still haven't seen any issues serious enough to take it into the dealership
  15. If I remember correctly you have to touch above where you would think to touch. Touching on the word has little effect.
  16. Maybe that's why there are press photos of it and they haven't released it.
  17. I went for it. In Canada the FMPP includes brake pads & rotors which I have had to do on almost every vehicle I ever owned. In my mind the really interesting option is the FMPP+ option as it includes the top extended warranty plan with a $0 deductible. With all of the electronics on these vehicles I was twitchy about the unexpected costs after the 3 year warranty ends.
  18. The article is from a year ago. Maybe they changed their mind.
  19. Just touch the preset and hold for a few seconds.

  21. Here it is all cleaned up with about 200 kms on it. I'm thinking it looks pretty good!
  22. Just part of being Canadian, paying more and getting less.
  23. Maybe someday Ford will offer this to non-Nav owners as a paid upgrade but right now only the units with Nav from the factory can use the Nav SD card. For everyone else it another media slot for FMT.
  24. My Torch paired up 1st time but I am having trouble getting it to tether to the Edge so that other WiFi devices can share the Internet connection. I've tried both Bluetooth & USB connection with no joy. It's a 2011 Edge Limited with all updates as it was only built on February 8th. Thanks
