  1. I am both relieved and ticked that when I check on this forum, I read about the same issues my car now has. I have just had my 2011 Sport in for avSync update and door latch fix. Right after this servicing, I experienced my first "clunk" of the transmission driving at about 20mph. I'm ticked I now have to take the car back to get it looked at. It's a relief I bought the extended warranty, but I'm not happy I purchased this $50,000 car causing so many common problems and very little ownership on Ford's part to acknowledge these problems.
  2. Just got my latch replaced. Kept my car 2 days just to fix! Had to pay the $100 deductible on the Esp but wish there was a recall for it as it seems to be common. 1 day after getting the car back it now "clunks" at low speed. Now I've just read there's a Tsb out for that. Back it goes in again. This car is really turning into one problem after another.
  3. I had to give my 2 cents worth on my 2011 Sport. I've had the car 3.5 years now and I do regret spending over $50,000 Cdn on it. A costly mistake I won't be repeating. Sorry Ford, you've had too many chances. I've just had to pay my deductible for the "extended warranty" on that faulty door latch issue mentioned above (2 day fix). Seems lots of people are having this issue, but Ford won't do a Tsb on it. Now I'm experiencing the transmission "clunk" right after taking the car in for an "inspection" and Sync update. I've just read there's a Tsb on that too. Seems too much of a coincidence. Now it will have to go back. Vibrations are also an ongoing issue, along with many Sync problems too numerous to mention. A month ago the brake froze stiff on start up and didn't work for about 10 minutes after turning the car off twice. The dealer did not know what the problem was and it has not happened again. I'm sure the extended warranty will be used for that also in the future.
  4. Hi. Just checked this older post and wanted to mention I just experienced the "clunk" after having my 2011 Sport serviced for a faulty latch issue. That didn't have a tsb for it, but is known on this forum for having issues. My clunking started after the car was given a Sync update and inspection. Could that have caused this even though the clunk is in the transmission? Just wondering.
  5. Have had this mildewy, mold smell every 6 months or so (have had my Edge 2 years now). Once I get the air filter replaced the smell goes away. The last time the dealer changed it he showed me the filter and it was pretty dirty. The filter is in an awkward place so it's difficult to change yourself even though I did do it in the fall. I also had an air conditioner leak a year ago and it soaked the entire front carpets! (not impressed).
  6. Did the update but not happy they moved the outside temperature so passengers can't read it now. It's even quite small to read in the driver's cluster area too. Not well thought out IMO.
  7. Shiny blue package just arrived too. SD and USB combo inside.
  8. Still waiting for my package.......Dealer wouldn't resolve my MFT issues, said I had to "wait for the update" ! It's very frustrating to spend so much money and not get after sale service. I will never buy a new Ford again. I've learned my lesson!
  9. Discovery Ford in Burlington told me that it was coming in the mail "either March 15th or April 15th" he wasn't sure...? I was told my glitches would have to wait to be fixed until this time. A bit vague with the dates but I'll post when I get the package also.
  10. Spotted this Edge at a local collision centre. Luckily it's similar to mine but not mine. Thought viewers would like to see how it fared on a side impact. The roof is still intact, the back window has been broken out and it had snow tires on the vehicle.
  11. Thanks for the final comment but I'm not to know where people are reading on this website!
  12. I have just been told by my dealer that I'd have to "pay" a fee to be given the version code of the current MFT on my Edge. They failed to tell me the version number the last time it was serviced also. I then asked if it was not in their computer system under my car's file and the service person said said no, they'd have to run a check on it with a special program. I don't believe this and wonder if there's any way to tell on my own what version update I have. Any ideas?

  14. Congrats. I bought in Jan. and I believe have the 2.4v but will have to confirm. Can Canadians sign up to that webpage Syncmyride? I didn't think they could. I doubt you'll dealer would put in the latest version. Once they have your money, they wouldn't go out of their way to do extras. You aren't missing much without the Navi. It hasn't exactly worked well for me. My $200 Garmin works better. If it doesn't know an address or gets confused (often), it just boots to Alberta as an address (Canada version). Now my voice command is not working properly on it. I agree the ride is smooth. Good luck and enjoy.
  15. I am mostly satisfied with our Edge Sport but do complain to my DH about the MFT and other quirks that have arisen over the near 6 months of owning it. He is far more in love with it than me (especially the 22's). I am the principal driver and have the 2.4 MFT version. That is the main reason that I'm not completely in love with this car I think, the MFT. I shouldn't have to worry about what unusual mishap will happen next almost every time I drive the car considering the price of it. I would have expected this more from a cheaper vehicle.
  16. Just had this happen to me while out of town and it wasn't something I was expecting so I'm putting the word out so people can read up on it. I had both keys that kept saying "no key found' also car beeped twice when I even tried the remote start on one key but it didn't start. The other key started the car but once I put my foot on the brake it said "no key found". I'm not sure how many times it said that before the alarm sounded, not very loud I might add and then it seemed to fade quieter after a brief time. I don't know what I did or pushed to stop it but after waiting 5 mins. I got the car to start.
  17. Sorry I can't help but just want to say I agree with you and want people to read this too. My 2011 Edge navi is worse than my 7 year old Expedition's Navi. Yesterday I typed in an address a few miles away from where I was and it said I was "too close" for it to give directions and to "refer to the map"-- I just shook my head on that one! I've almost given up using it and now bring a $150 Garmin for backup. This is not acceptable for the price they charge for this junk.
  18. I like the Edge Sport for the drive, but I'm encountering a different glitch each time I drive it lately (5 months old). I know it's usually the MFT that's the issue (have v2.4), but I've also had the cruise control not work once, both keys not start the car to the point where the alarm sounded and other issues yet to be resolved at the next update (too many to mention). I do not like the Navi which is worse than my 7 year old Expedition's navi and my $150 Garmin! If I try to ignore these things, it actually drives similar to (not exactly of course) to the BMW I used to drive.
  19. I hope the designers also add a lock to the glovebox back again for future models. 99% of other models have them for their glove boxes. I know it would be difficult with the key fob not having a regular key, but I'm sure it can be done with not a lot of effort. Just my two cents.
  20. I feel for you. My problems are just minor and irritating with the My Ford Touch, Remote Start and backup camera. I still have the 2.4 and will wait to update until a service is needed. I go into the car everyday wondering what querky thing will happen next to the car (radio shuts off if I receive an incoming call, etc.) I can't complain about the ride though, it's a very nice drive. Good luck and keep us posted.
  21. Almost got a Taurus SHO but there was less head and legroom in the backseat. The Edge seems more versitile for my family's needs. Secondly, I like to support N. American made products, especially big ticket items. It drives great, but it's not without hiccups over the touchscreen, Navi and other minor glitches.
  22. Good for you for ordering a "new" car and good for the dealer for doing the right thing. I hope nobody else ends up with that Edge but I expect it will get sold to someone else and it will be their new problem!
  23. Blis is a good back up to shoulder checking which I always do anyway. My cross traffic alert does not give an audible sound alert as it's supposed to. I'll have to get it seen to the next time I take it in for maintenance. It does however, indicate if a car is coming from the left or right on the dash screen. They are good features and hopefully will become standard on other cars over time.
  24. Congrats. I'm partial to that colour too and I also have 2 other Mustangs. You'll love the Edge.
  25. Very positive review. He didn't mention much about the MyFordTouch or voice commands though as well as some of the optional features such as Blis, Driver's Entry Package, etc. Having just sat in many cars at the auto show, I do think the front dash features and radio look very high end (as he mentioned about the Sony system).
