  1. My son generally lets his lapse and then, in a month or two, he starts getting offers to come back at $25 or $35 for six months.
  2. Hoping you meant me and not MtnExplorer719. I logged in and it shows that my last update was October 5, 2015 and that I am up to date. The system shows the following information; CPU S/W version 3.08.15128.EA.10_PRODUCT Nav version 4.66.5 Map database version A7 It acted up again this weekend when I was not streaming bluetooth from my phone but was listening to the radio.
  3. I would, but for some reason I can't send PMs.
  4. When I started the car on Saturday morning, I got a black screen that then went to the "Performing System Maintenance" screen. I still did the master reset later that day and had no problems with the maps. Until this morning. I again had navigation faults displaying on dashboard screen and a slow map display (not repainting, unresponsive to touch) multiple times today. The only difference was that I was streaming bluetooth music and podcasts today instead of using the radio. When it has problems, it also won't respond to steering wheel controls to control forward or reverse, but those work immediately on the phone. My thoughts are that the bluetooth streaming with the map display is overloading the system. Is this a symptom of an APIM starting to fail?
  5. Put the new card in on Monday. Last night it started giving me nav failure messages while I was driving home. This morning it froze the entire My Ford Touch system for a couple of minutes. When it finally came back, navigation didn't work. I know the card reader is fine because my A4 card worked while I was waiting the two weeks for my replacement to show up. I'll try a master reset (again) this weekend, but after my last A7 card experience, I'm not holding out much hope for it. If that doesn't work,. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I don't want to have to keep paying even MORE money to get replacements and keep trying them until I get one that works.
  6. I had the same problem with my A7 card failing after a couple of months. Some emails back and forth with HERE customer service got me an RMA. I received my replacement last week (too late for my trip) and put it in yesterday.
  7. Turbo: $1425 All Parts: $1644 (gaskets, sensors, etc) Labor: $674 Labor:
  8. $2000 for the turbo. Plus cost of any other parts they replace.
  9. I didn't say anything about that. I was only replying to "your husband is stuck in the 80's" statement above. And we don't know if they are more or less prone to failure unless they get reported. When I bought my Edge, the only thing I really had to go on in terms of reliability what Ford's talk about designing them for 150,000 miles. On the boards here we now have two cases of them failing before that. I'm just trying to give someone who is looking at it more information. Would I buy an ecoboost again? Probably. I wouldn't rule it out because of this.
  10. I did change the oil at the recommended intervals. However, the turbos aren't cooled with oil. Per a Ford press release: "The EcoBoost approach eliminates several customer worries from previous turbocharger applications. Designed for long-life reliability, EcoBoost's turbochargers feature water-cooled bearing jackets. This architecture is designed to prevent oil "coking" that could occur in previous-generation turbochargers. The new design means that EcoBoost drivers don't need to observe special operating precautions, such as idling the engine before switching it off. The turbochargers are designed for a life cycle of at least 150,000 miles or 10 years." I don't think an extended warranty would have helped with this becuase I'm at 106,000.
  11. Based on my experience the past week, if you get one, be prepared. I'm replacing my turbo at 106,000 miles. This after replacing three other parts that are related to it failing (P0299 apparently code covers a lot of things). There is NO reason it should have failed this early.
  12. I've also had some problems with my iPhone and bluetooth after updating to 9.3. I haven't played with it enough to figure out what is the trigger, but I get disconnects from blue tooth for audio and I get my phone ringing without it going through sync. Other times it works fine. I just did the 9.3.1 update so I'll see if that makes any difference or not.
  13. I just use Siri to handle the text messaging.
  14. Saw that Apple released 9.2.1 to developers yesterday. Hope it's fixed in that.
  15. Thanks for confirming this. It did it today for the second time and I wasn't sure what had gone wrong.
  16. Tried it again last night. Worked as I remembered. It worked with 9.1 as well as 9.2. I also tried opening an app and it refused to do that. I hadn't tried that before. Not sure what setting you want be to report on.
  17. Weird. Mine works fine with this. I tell Siri "Tell my wife I'm on the way home" and the message is sent. I'll try to remember to play with it tonight to make sure I'm not making this up.
  18. I doubt it's the update. Mine have always done this under certain underpasses around me. Like someone said above, there is a 3-4 secon buffering that occurs, but sometimes that's not enough. In addition, it also depends on the angle of the satellite that you are using at the time. In thinking about it, it could be because of the update. I don't know how much of the software in the radio itself is changed from update to update, but there is a threshold that forces it to change to a different satllite. Maybe that changed?
  19. Which I will be doing. As for why I'm changing, I just don't like the look of the 20" wheels/tires. Thanks all for your help.
  20. Hi, I have a 2013 Edge Limited, FWD with the ecoboost. When I bought it, the wheels were a don't care compared with all the other things I was looking for. Now I'm thinking about switching to 18" wheels from the 20" ones that came with it. Problem is, with all the cars I've ever owned, I've never switched wheels so I don't know what to look for (manufacturer, etc) so I'm looking for some help. I've been looking through Tirerack and found 4 possible ones and I would like the groups opinion on them, not necessarily for looks, but more for functionality, strength, and anything else you can think of when picking out wheels. Here's the four that I've narrowed it down to. Andros Spec S: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelCloseUpServlet?target=runWheelSearch&initialPartNumber=SS1880511435BMF&wheelMake=ANDROS&wheelModel=Spec%20S&wheelFinish=Machined%20w%2FBlack%20Accent&showRear=no&autoMake=Ford&autoModel=Edge+Limited&autoYear=2013&autoModClar=FWD Advanti FS Fastoso (where do they get these names?) http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelCloseUpServlet?target=runWheelSearch&initialPartNumber=FS8851435SSML&wheelMake=Advanti&wheelModel=FS%20Fastoso&wheelFinish=Bright%20Sil%20w%2FMach%20Lip&showRear=no&autoMake=Ford&autoModel=Edge+Limited&autoYear=2013&autoModClar=FWD Enkei Performance CUV http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelCloseUpServlet?target=runWheelSearch&initialPartNumber=4957756545BMF&wheelMake=Enkei%20Performance&wheelModel=CUV&wheelFinish=Machined%20w%2FBlack%20Accent&showRear=no&autoMake=Ford&autoModel=Edge+Limited&autoYear=2013&autoModClar=FWD Platinum Divine http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelCloseUpServlet?target=runWheelSearch&initialPartNumber=4107707BM40BMA&wheelMake=Platinum&wheelModel=Divine&wheelFinish=Black%20w%2FMilled%20Accent&showRear=no&autoMake=Ford&autoModel=Edge+Limited&autoYear=2013&autoModClar=FWD Thanks for your help.
  21. Last night, for some strange reason, I logged on to the ford owner site to see if there was a new version for my Sync. Found out there was (and a little bit of googling found out it was released this weekend). I installed it without any problem. They managed to keep my desitinations this time (but lost the wallpapers), but you have to re-pair your phones with system. Only other thing I noticed is that when I switch to bluetooth audio it not gives the same legal warning that the nav system does. Release notes are: EA5T-14D544-ADABOUT THE LATEST UPDATE The new software update for SYNC® with MyFord Touch® systems includes all the improvements from previous updates, plus additional benefits such as: Siri® Eyes Free*: Now iPhone users can use Siri® Eyes Free with SYNC® with MyFord Touch®. With simple voice commands, SYNC® with MyFord Touch® enables you to operate the iPhone and SYNC® together. Siri® Eyes Free can be activated by pressing and holding the voice button for at least 3 seconds. Secure, simple phone pairing: Phone pairing is now easier. Automatic reconnection: If your phone disconnects, SYNC® with MyFord Touch® will automatically reconnect it. Easier entry of destinations for China: Now SYNC® with MyFord Touch® allows for easier entry of destinations. *Feature requires compatible hardware.
  22. Because of these laws, you need to look to your state government for help. My father did that with a local Dodge dealer and when the state rep showed up, the dealership sat up and listened.
  23. Because there is no dipstick, you have to take it to a dealship? I'm missing the connection. You could take it to any reputable transmission place.
  24. In addition to the fuel pump, the constant stopping for gas will drop your mileage. The best mirage I get is when I fill up, get on the highway and don't stop until I need more.
