  1. it would be easier if you had just the profile shot. Then we can compare to ours.

I'd like to lower my but dont want to compromise the ride quality.

To lower it and not compromise (at least as much) ride quality, you would need a really good set of dampers. Ideally, they would be tuned for the weight of the wheels and the new spring rate. I've heard some awesome things about Koni FSD, but not sure if they have one for this application.

EDIT: looks like no Koni FSDs for now... too bad since Tire Rack is having a 20% off on these right now.

  2. UPDATE:

    "

180 delivered for standard 17 inch deep hood, fenders side mirrors front bumper and lamps protection and inc 4 door edge guards and the install tool/info

add 10$ for the 19 inch deep hood protection"

I think $190 for 19" deep with hood, fenders, lights, bumper, door edges, mirrors and tools/info is a great deal! Looks like I have to get on the ball and fix that damn ding on the hood soon.

EDIT: Update on GB status: If we can get 3 people to buy at once, he will cut $15 bucks off each. So you could get the 17" kit for $165 or the 19" for $175. happy%20feet.gif

Clarification: the 19" kit is really 18.68" at the center of the hood and the fenders are extended versus the 17" kit.

  3. But keep in mind that the oil/cotton filter will flow better for longer. After 10,000 miles, the flow of the paper filter is reduced more than that of the K&N. (Sorry I am not even going to try to quantify this, but depth loading > surface loading)

If you were great with changing the paper filter often out and/or live in a low dust environment, you probably could keep similar flow.

IMO, brand new, both will have similar MPG range. But as time wears on, unless you change that paper filter out often, flow will degrade and eventually that DOES affect MPG.

And even if you don't agree that flow affects MPG, we should be able to agree on the fact that throttle response is affected by flow.

  4. Hello Everyone, just picked up a new Edge and we're very happy so far. Been running through the forum and looking at some valuable info. I'm not big on all that chrome on the grill, will have to get it painted like the sport version soon.

One member on here has a thread where he shows it covered in flat black vinyl. Looks really good. It's removable and you can just use your existing pieces. It will also be more durable than paint in some aspects including chip-resistance. This is the route I will be going once I decide on a general theme.

Welcome and Good Luck.. share pics if you do anything cool.

    EDIT: found the thread http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/6432-sport-grill-for-sel/

  5. Who's selling those rims for $1100. Thats a fantastic deal.

EDIT: Nevermind I see you bought them from someone who bought aftermarket wheels. You lucked out. I took my 2010 22" wheel in because it was leaking and the shop stated they're 1800 a piece here in Canada.

    eBay $575 shipped.

  6. Anyone? Can't seem to find the rears, only found fronts...

The last place that I bought slotted rotors was R1concepts.com. They are a pretty good company. Make sure you get their premium blanks though instead of their bottom barrel stuff.

I don't see Edge's past 2010 listed, but if you call them, they can make you a set (I'm 99% sure on this). They have some pretty good options available as well: Slots (what I got), holes, or both. And then what ever coatings you want. I can vouch that their black coating keeps the rust off of the non-contact sections.

Prices are very competitive. They were having a coupon sale a little while ago, but I can't find a working code. I just emailed a rep that I knew from over there and asked about rotors and coupons. Will report back.

  7. Outside of Sync I don't know of any bluetooth devices that would actually use that profile. Most of the devices are just headsets or streaming audio. As more sync equipped vehicles are sold and more mfrs add this bluetooth capability the cell phone mfrs should pay more attention.

Well I was aware of some (Windows) applications that allowed you to send texts from your computer through your phone, but now that I think of it, they must operate off of a wifi connection rather than BT.

  8. my wifes explorer works fine streaming Pandora through bt. She's got v2.7 my incredible has drop issues with bt when I'm streaming Pandora, I've got v2.4 in the Edge. I did a complete unpairing and repairing and it helped for weeks, but it seems its creeping back in now. Also send an email to HTC about features not working with Ford sync, believe it or not, they are listening. If they come up with a bt stack that supports voice to text messaging with sync, it only makes them look better.

I was really surprised to find out that BT MAP was not included in more smartphones. I guess Ford is really ahead of the curve on this one and hopefully the handset manufacturers will step up.

  9. It might depend on what equipment they're using to measure it. I did Collision Reconstruction for 5 years and used to do testing with an accelerometer. It can be used to time 0-60 runs as well as stopping runs as well. To be very accurate with the equipment, you need to immediately transition from gas to brake and hammer it to get the best distance. Human error can definitely creep in here.

That's a good point. I've always thought about the human factor in these tests and wondered if there was a way to standardize them.

  10. I think ford really missed the point here. My WIFES always cold and I'm always hot. So If I have my temp on 68 and she's in the back with the baby even though the passenger is set on 75 it goes off mine. Oh well can't have everything right?

I never thought about that... I assumed the dual would apply to the back too. Hmmm... well if your marriage is anything like mine, you'll get used to dressing light and in layers.

  11. OK I did this mod on my 2001 Corvette but it was only $35.

What I did was buy a Homelink unit off Ebay, yep you can just buy the remote piece.

I carefully cut the stitches in the sunvisor to open it up and then installed the unit. Sowed it back up and it looked stock.

This link should help you out on the Edge too.

Thanks for the share.. I learn something new everyday.

  12. I've been looking around to find a solid number on the 60MPH to 0MPH panic brake test for the 2011 Edges but I keep coming up with different numbers from different sources.

    http://www.trucktren...est/brakes.html

Truck Trend (Same as Motor Trend) said:

"Our Sport's best 60-0 mph braking distance of 124 feet improves on the FWD SEL's mediocre 139 feet, but our tester reports that the Sport's best stop was all about the tires. A second 0-60 mph stop took the Sport a miserable 148 feet. Our tester let the brakes cool down, then recorded a third stop of 155 feet.

Similarly, the Edge SEL's stopping distances varied from 139 to 153 feet. Compare this with a new Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, tested at the same time, with 60-0 mph distances of 126, 126 and 127 feet in three stops. A Grand Cherokee Overland recorded 136, two 138s and 137 feet.

Such brake performance could be a deal-breaker."

    http://www.edmunds.com/ford/edge/2011/

    While Edmunds says:

"In Edmunds brake testing, an all-wheel-drive Ford Edge Sport stopped from 60 mph in a respectable 121 feet."

This is a pretty big discrepancy in the 'tested' braking performance or at least how it has been spun. I haven't panic braked in the Edge yet, but I am happy with the normal braking feel and response.

    Thoughts?

  13. But then why would it work after resetting MFT via the fuse pull? If it was a problem with the phone's bluetooth profile then I would think the BT audio just wouldn't work no matter what I did (not to mention that the phone portion of the BT is working fine).

Ah technology, you are a fickle mistress.

    Android terms applied to MFT:

Think of pulling the fuse as a reboot and the Master reset as a /data partition wipe. Obviously your choice to do so... let us know if you do though.

    Good luck in any case

  14. I just wrapped mine with FLAT BLACK vinyl, including the Logo as i didn't like that huge stamp on the front with the unmatching blue backing on the logo. So i blacked out the whole grill, including the top chrome lining that goes between the headlights and hood, which the Ford Sports grill does not black out, keeps chrome. So i like mine a bit better. I also blacked out the long chrome piece in the middle of the Edge's liftgate in the back, covering that logo too.

Here are before and after pics of what i did.

    Lookin tough! yup.gif

Mind me asking where/what vinyl and how much (sq ft) did it take? I'm pretty sure this is one of my next mods.

  15. Simple problem solving? Eliminate the variables and it's pretty clear where the problem is coming from. Nothing with the phone has changed since these problems started occurring. I pulled fuse 29 (which rebooted Sync) and voila the problem is gone! I drive somewhere, turn the car off, do my errands, return to the car (meanwhile, nothing has changed with the phone) and the problem is back. Tell me, do you really think you can attribute that issue to the phone (especially given that it's pretty well established at this point that this iteration Sync/MFT has a lot of bugs?)

I have an HTC Incredible, running Cyanogen 7 as well :) Since having this issue where fuse 29 helped and then the BT audio broke again I've repaired the phone and fiddled with settings on Sync/MFT to no avail. $100 says if I yanked fuse 29 again everything would work again (for 1 car ride at least...)

Maybe the car doesn't like something about the bluetooth profile that it has stored. I hate to suggest it, but I think the dealer will do this first in your case also: Master Reset the MFT system.

mad.gif Damn hate suggesting it, but I have a feeling it will work. Otherwise, you can wait until the v2.8 is ready for your car. They'll probably reset it at that point anyhow.

  16. Hello all,

I think I've finally reached my break point with my MFT/Sync system. Since purchasing the vehicle in January it has largely been excellent in every way except the Sync/MFT. I had to take it in for svc once to correct the black screen problem (with 2.7 does seem to have fixed) but now am running into an extremely annoying Bluetooth Audio bug. The long and short of it is this (FYI this is an android phone with both Mp3s on the device AND a streaming music service (audiogalaxy)).

Recently I've found that when I select my Bluetooth Audio (which is showing up under the Audio Source menu correctly as "MC") it will attempt to connect, connect for maybe 1 second then disconnect immediately. After this occurs the Audio Source menu changes to reflect that no BT Audio source is found (I think the standard Source button is "BT Audio" or somesuch). This is all occuring while the phone is paired and functioning with no problems.

Pulling fuse 29 fixed the issue for one trip but as soon as I turned the car off/on again the problem was back. Has anyone else run into this issue? It's not an issue on the phone's end I can assure you.

The functionality of MFT/Sync is great WHEN IT WORKS but at this point the software is half baked and needs a thorough debugging.

I'm running Android. Actually CyanogenMod 7 RC1 (updating to RC4 tonight).

I haven't had the problems that you speak of yet. You stated that you rebooted the MFT before, did you happen to reboot the android? Mind me asking what firmware you are on / device you own?

  17. Perhaps he simply replied to the wrong topic. It's nothing to get upset about.

Knock off the name-calling and personal attacks (both of you).

Thanks for shedding light about the mis-post.

I apologize for the WTF part... apparently, it was not received as jovially as was intended.

backtotopic.gif: Is this v2.8 something that will have to be installed by the dealer? And if so, what type of installs can actually be done by the owner?

  18. Cal, why are you such an ass? Seriously, leave people alone. I have been watching you troll these boards the last few days and drum up trouble everywhere you go...stop being an asshole and move on.

    You are obviously trolling.

Did you read the original post and the subsequent post or are you searching for my posts to rip into me?

I'm here reading the board and looking for conversation. When a post like this shows up in a thread that has no bearing on it I wonder if it is SPAM or a mis-post.

    My question is:

    What does

"The standard engine to the Ford Edge sport package include 3496 CC Duratec V6 version that delivers 198 hp of power at 6250 rpm and torque of 250 lb ft at 4500 rpm. It is mated to standard 6-speed automatic transmission."

    have to do with

"I haven't got my New Edge yet, looks like it is just coming off the assembly line.

It has the following Sync version according to Syncmyride web site."

The 2011 Sport doesn't even come with the 3496 CC duratec... and 198hp?

No wonder this site is so lacking. Random misinformation with wanna be troll-mods trying to protect it

EDIT: Spongers, you should read the whole thread and all its words before becoming so inflammatory. Maybe fill out your Signature, Avatar and profile and tell us about yourself... instead of being just a facade.

  19. Keep me posted please.

He replied saying Hood, Fenders and Mirrors for $85.

I bet for the $160 that others are charging you could get the headlights and the front bumper included... basically the front end without the grille. I'll ask him to set up a Group Buy type of package... if anyone is interested, chime in.

Here's what I'm thinking the kit would be (don't quote me yet obviously):

    Edge%20Clear%20Bra%20Proposed%20Kit.jpg

  20. You are probably right in your assessment as to why it gets turned on. But even if the audio system needs to be turned on to perform a voice command it could also be systematically turned back off when the command is completed. I can't see any reason for the original state of the audio to be opposite when the voice event is finished. I think this is a bug any way you slice it. Admittedly, with some of the other bugs some are experiencing this is probably not a high priortity issue, but at least from the programmers perspective it is really easy to reproduce when they do decide to fix it.

Hopefully this is something they addressed in v2.8... I'm starting to hear about this update here and there. One person says his Sport is going to ship with 2.8 and then the website says updates are available.
