I had a mirror custom cut to fit the three bars which I removed from the grille. Ultra smooth, no pitting and you cannot get a better reflection. It looks very clean and bold. I think colored keyed grilles look cheesy unless it is a matte finish which looks much more sophisticated and clean.
Pics?

Hey, Thanks a lot....good info, as I plan on converting as much as I can to led's......:yup:
same here :yup: ... In fact, I plan on adding a couple other LEDs in key areas , but those are just plans right now

Nice, but aren't these all listed in the owner's manual in the glovebox for easy reference?
Yes, they are. But I don't always have my car and/or manual with me opposed to my smartphone, which goes everywhere with me (yes, even the bathroom ) Thought it would be nice to have on a site I planned on frequenting.
I found it on the Sylvania website while on my computer because I was shopping for LEDs and did not have my manual accessible. Only thing I've bought online while in my car was chicken strips from Wingstop
As a Mod, I would think you wanted more of this information on the site to build its resources and activity.... no?

I've used K&N on all my cars.
It may let more dirt in at the very beginning, but after a weeks use, its going to filter better than paper. And of course, flow is no-brainer.
The oil grabs the dirt and keeps it in, making the filter even more effective. The reason these things are not stock on cars is 1) general public will might over oil and ruin a MAF sensor 2) They make money on paper filters and charging you to change them 3) They cost more to make.
In the long run, you will save much money on using a K&N air filter. Heck, I still have the same re-oil kit from 2003 with more than half left.

I'm going to play necromancer and bring this thread back.
1) Because it should be a sticky
2) This site is sooooo light on traffic, a thread like this deserves to pop back in action.
Thanks for writing this in one place. You'll end up saving me massive amounts of time. Going to buy my LEDs right now.

Nextime,
I found a guy selling the 3M scotchguard kit for $85 on eBay and he says that the coverage is very good, up to 17" deep on the hood.
Asked him to post a picture of the coverage, will report back.
EDIT: he won't post pictures, but I sent another request for email.

I feel like I am the only one here that likes the chrome grille. Am I out of touch now?
It's not that.
IF I were to go with the dark look, then doing something original with the grille could look really good.
otherwise, If I stay with the white theme, I will leave the grille as chrome. But I do like the chrome grille. It's Ford's most stylish and power grille at the moment.

I asked the same question way back and a few of the guys here said to use Maguires products and to wax them like you would wax the car to help keep the gook off. I never did that so I suffer with tarnished wheels.
There are chemicals that will remove it, but you need to find the right ones. Something that will have a molecular affect.

Red would look very Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
noted.
Leaning towards whiting the car out or smoking it. White emblems, white carbon fiber vinyl on the lower fascias OR smoked lights, black or carbon grille, black or carbon lower fascia, smoked emblems.
Looks like I got some photochopping to do.

Try this site: http://www.patriotdecals.com/

I am making the assumption that I was not the only person that was confused by all of this. If so I appologize for starting this topic.
For the longest time I have been competely baffled by volume issues with the MFT system. I've read the online owner's manual several times and it really didn't help.
My issues were, I could adjust the radio while it was playing music via the volume knob on the radio, but other audio sources (phones calls via bluetooth, voice prompts from the system, and in particular the navigation voice) were all at different levels. In particular the navigation voice seemed to have NO way to adjust it at all. There is a listed voice command called "navigation voice volume decrease" but every time I attempted that it seemed to just be lowering the regular voice system volume, but then navigation prompts would come on again and blast me out of the car.
Here is the secret: The system is comprised of 4 different sections (entertainment source, bluetooth phone calls, voice prompts, navigation prompts), and each one is adjusted individually via either the rotory volume knob (or the volume adjustment on the steering wheel). But you have to do your adjustment right at the moment that said "source" is in control of the audio system! So to adjust the phone, you have to turn the knob while you are on a phone call. To adjust the navigation prompts, you have to turn the knob right in the middle of a direction. Etc, etc. Each one seems to store it's own volume level. And for the life of me, I have never found a way via the menu system to adjust either the phone volume or the navigation voice volume without doing it the way I describe. Honestly, I don't think there is any other way to do it.
Hopefully this helps someone out. I know I had personally come to dread using my nav as it was so loud and I couldn't figure out how to turn it down. Maybe I'm just dense, but it wasn't overly intuitive to me.
Android phones are set up this way,Different volumes for Navigation, Phone, Music, Alerts, Alarms, Notifications, SMS notifications.
.... so, I guess I was lucky that it seems intuitive. I just wish the system prompt voice was easier to quickly change.

Unfortunately I didn't take proper "before" picture to show the change in ride height. Here's a picture from a different angle before I lowered it. Look at the gap in the front wheel well. It still may be a bit hard to tell from that angle, but believe me it is noticeable.
Different angle , but I can see the difference... there's at least 1-2" of wheel gap that was closed.

Just purchased a 2011 Edge SEL with a Remote Start Bi-Directional 100 Series Plug and Play PN BT4Z-19G364-A. When I picked
up the car the dealer had the wrong remote starter installed. It was the type that had the start button right on the key. I made them
change it to what I ordered, which they did without any hassle. However the remote start feature works just fine but the find and panic
button do not work at all. I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem with this series remote starter? seems to me if
you advertise that the product has this feature as well it should work.
Any info on this matter would be much appreciated
I'm thinking the installed it wrong. Time to call the service manager.

Thought I would share this, I got a good laugh from it. Sunday we were in a suburb too close to Chicago and saw a Miata with a racing number painted on the door. I was cracking up and before I could even finish gawking at it I looked over and saw this. Except this car has blue painters tape for a racing number.
Maybe he was getting ready to paint the number in and was testing the mask job

Has anyone had a problem with their alternator on the 2011 Edge?
Why would there be alternator problems this early on?
Are you experiencing any?

I agree, has been a little dull around here. I think we lost some very colorful characters.
Maybe people are too busy enjoying their nice cars

I have some left over CREEs from flashlight building that would make POWERFUL DRLs. I will try to find some new optics for them and make up a set. I'm thinking 2-3 Cree's on each side would have enough juice.
Hard part will be figuring out where to mount them discretely and which optics to get the desired spread
*checking DealExtreme right now*
BTW, they sell the DRL light bars on PartsCheap.com

Nice mod!

I Have a 2005 VW Touareg and with the Vag-Com cable thru the OBD port I was able to change the number of blinks from 3to 5 ,and many other diagnostic measurements,,Not FORD,Marty
I'm guessing that some day, a protocol might be available to "hack" such things. Vag-com is definitely nice.

Hi SERREloyAZ :D . I don't know if this will help, it is only a thought: What happens when you press the turn signal lever halfway and hold it there (like the good-old days)? In other words, will the appropriate directional keep blinking as long as you hold the lever half-way, then give three more courtesy blinks once you release it? Alternately, even if it will not give three more courtesy blinks when released, can you just hold it halfway and have it blink until you release it (again, just like the good-old days)?
As I said, I don't know if it does or not, but if it does the problem is solved. If not, as choff and cal stated the last resort would be to flip it all the way up/down, and then turn it off once you've completed your lane change
Let us know the outcome.
Good luck. :beerchug:
That works. If you hold it longer than 3 blinks it will blink as long as you hold it. If you release it before that, it will blink the 3 times.
Its annoying to hold it there while changing lanes though. I just move it to the second spot, finish the lane change and tap it to turn it off (any direction).
Here is the fix for all audio system volume issues!

You probably didn't miss it.
As I read the manual, I notice that it "describes" more than "explains". It tells you things you can visually detect yourself most of the time instead of the logic behind it. For example, it tells you that you can set the fuel economy graphs to 5 mins, 10 mins or 30 mins... Well... duh... I can see that those are my only 3 choices. But it should tell you that 5 mins is not each bar, but all the bars combined equal 5 mins. So on the 5 min setting, each bar represents 1 minutes.
Its that type of stuff that makes people not reference the manual.
