Cold air intake or just K&N for better fuel economy?
akirby replied to rltrbill's topic in 2010 Edge & MKX
You can't dyno fuel economy and there is NO way a tune will yield a 3-5 mpg gain. No way. -

He could tell you but he'd have to kill you. If Waldo says it, believe it. -
The MyFordTouch updates are applicable to 2011s and 2012s - no worries there. Nothing's been released on the 2013s and probably won't be for several months.

MFT Overhaul Press Release

I don't think you can mail software from the U.S. to Canada or any other country - that may be part of the reason. -
I didn't say I agreed with it, just trying to explain the logic. In this case they don't have all the pieces yet to further differentiate the MKX like it needs to be, especially in terms of powertrain. However, I do think it probably pushes some buyers into a MKX, especially if price is not a major factor. Going forward Lincoln will have different powertrains to differentiate them further along with 100% unique sheetmetal and other options. For the record I think those features should be available on both.

Nope - you could disconnect the battery cables, then touch them together for 30 seconds or so before reconnecting.

Let exodus check rebates for you - ultimately that's what it comes down to. The rebates will be the same regardless of the dealer. Look up the dealer invoice price on edmunds.com or kbb.com and add $500, then subtract the rebates. That would be an excellent price plus a reasonable doc fee ($399 is a bit high), tax, tag, title.

I'm not blaming the phones - I'm saying that the new software has bugs that are tripped with some phones more than others based on how the phone uses the bluetooth profiles, etc. -

I don't have any inside knowledge on the components. As far as I know they're all the same, but we know there were some APIM failures that had to be replaced. It's possible there are others that are flaky. It's also possible that the software is simply more sensitive to certain types of phones or combinations of features and/or usage patterns that make it worse for some than others. -

You may still get an apology and a comp of some sort when you get the new update in the mail. But until then - how is Ford supposed to know that you're an unhappy customer unless you tell them? Remember we have several Edge MFT owners who are either happy or at least not too upset about their MFT experiences so how is Ford supposed to know the difference? -

MFT Overhaul Press Release

I think they believed they could stabilize it within a month or two at most and if they had then it wouldn't be an issue. But they didn't and I agree they should compensate folks who have had problems. I think they will but we'll have to wait and see. -
It's not a cost cutting measure - that wouldn't make sense because those features would actually add revenue. I believe it was done purposely to avoid competing with the more expensive MKX that has the same engine.

MFT Overhaul Press Release
akirby replied to phantom9000's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
You make it sound so simple - just delay releasing 2 new vehicles (don't forget the Explorer) for months until MFT could be stabilized. That's almost impossible to do at such a late stage. Here is what they should have done (in hindsight): Delayed the production date for MFT - don't schedule it into a new vehicle until the product was stable. In this case it would have delayed MFT by at least a year (but it would have been stable) OR Design the vehicle to accept both MFT and the old sync/navigation system without huge changes. This would have allowed MFT to be ditched and the new vehicle to be launched with alternate technology. However, it may have required compromises on the MFT design. Because Ford failed to do either one of those and bet the farm that MFT would be ready - they were stuck between a rock and a hard place and they did the best they could under the circumstances. I'm not saying they did the right thing - I'm just saying that the error occurred before the vehicles were ever released (lack of a backup plan, lack of oversight on the developers, too aggressive schedule). At that point releasing the vehicles with known bugs and working like crazy to stabilize the software was the only viable business decision. -

It was already reported last year (by an employee) that at one point there were over 1500 known bugs prior to release. That's not my opinion. -

I don't disagree at all. I just don't like to see facts stated incorrectly. And I prefer Margaritas. -
If it works with Firefox and Chrome but not IE then it must be an IE problem.

Batteries are not designed to "wear out" like brake pads and wiper blades, etc. thus they are covered by the b2b warranty. Lincolns are actually covered for 4 yrs/50K miles.

Both the Latitude Tour and Latitude Tour HP are available in 245/60/18 size and I believe the Latitude Tour is LRR.

For the 100th time - it was not lack of testing. They had thousands of bugs identified before the launch. It was a business decision to launch with known problems, not a lack of testing. -
Not sure about the doc fee but you do have to pay the $595 acquisition fee with any lease including X plan - it's not negotiable.

Since he's in Canada I wasn't sure if it was 40K miles or 40K kilometers.

Fold-flat Passenger Seat Question
akirby replied to djhannu's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
The manual says there is a large lever on the side of the seat just like the previous models. -
It would be a good idea to get the software updated just to be safe but real usb problems are usually hardware. They switched to RCA audio plugs to support full A/V inputs.
-
It's covered by the 3 yr bumper to bumper warranty.
