Actually it's "If I Remember Correctly" (IIRC). -
If you plan on taking it to the dealer for every scheduled maintenance and doing everything they say to do including all the inspections, then it's probably a good idea. But IMO that's overkill. If you just have the dealer replace what needs to be replaced per the OM then you can probably save a lot of money - even more if you do your own oil changes, etc. There really isn't a lot that has to be done for the first 100K miles if you check the maintenance schedule.

I was under the impression that those were no longer used. Are they?

2011 Ford Edge HID kit
akirby replied to jsabia85's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
I've heard of smart junction boxes being messed up by HIDs and those maybe not being covered, but not other electrical problems. It's perfectly legal if there is a reasonable connection between the HIDs and the part that was damaged. I doubt that they would do anything unless it was a part that was directly connected to the HIDs (like the SJB) but I don't know how Kia operates. -

Doing a few hard stops every once in a while might reduce the noise. Sometimes the noise comes from the back of the pad where the piston contacts it - you can remove the pads and apply squeal stop to the back of the pads and reinstall them - may or may not help.

Lost keypad entry code

You know I can't help it. It's a curse. Glad you found the code. BTW - it's "voila", not "wa la". -

The original post that started this thread was an email that was sent to tjbron detailing the changes. I moved it to the other information thread here . I don't know who else got the email but I don't see why they would only send it to one person. So they are contacting some people directly. But we're dealing with semantics again. Wilson said "Ford has made no attempt to keep me posted on what is going on.". In my mind - publishing a press release that is republished across the internet is a very good attempt to keep customers posted, although I agree it is not as good as sending a letter directly to each and every customer. So in the interest of forum harmony I'll agree that Ford could have done more by sending a letter to each and every customer and leave it at that. -
I'm not even going to ask........

Excellent point. Like I said, there are many things that went into the decision and economics are always a very big part. But if you can save money and please the customer at the same time it's a win/win. Really? http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=35502 - also published on multiple news and media sites. Providing the update to existing owners free of charge and with a usb stick that the user can install themselves is most definitely good PR. -

In my experience the factors that go into this type of decision are complicated and never cut and dried. Ford seems to do more to satisfy their customers than some companies and less than others. I've seen them issue extended warranties and service programs for some things but not for others. -
Ford Explorer roof racks have always had a 100 lb limit going back to the 90s. Expeditions were 200 but that's because it's much bigger and the weight is spread out more evenly. I'm pretty sure I've exceeded that limit in both an Explorer and Expedition with no problems but of course that's up to you.

It would be FAR cheaper to just tell the users to download the new software from the syncmyride.com website rather than buying, formatting and shipping out thumb drives. In this case the extra cost is offset by the good PR. The best business decision is not always the cheapest. They know they have unhappy customers and they're getting bad press reviews. Would they do anything if they weren't getting a lot of complaints and bad press? Probably not. But the only thing that really matters is what they ARE doing, not why. -
Just had the same problem replacing the Michelin HX MXM4s on my Fusion with BFG super sport A/S. Lost at least 2 mpg right off the bat. Did not realize tires played such a big part. We have the Latitudes on our 08 Edge and they've been great so far. I do think I have a bad belt in one making lots of noise but that was most likely due to a nail puncture. They're not cheap but they're great tires IMO. Not sure about the other two - check tirerack.com for user survey ratings.

I've also been in IT including software development for 25 years. I understand and totally agree that the software is crappy and the cause for most of the problems along with a few hardware failures. I think there may be some flaky hardware still out there also causing problems in addition to the software. These aren't bugs as in "this feature doesn't work" - this is a stability and performance issue caused by poor coding. And I totally agree that folks who use more features or use them more frequently will have a bigger chance to see more failures. There is no question the system as currently written is terribly flawed. That's why Ford rewrote it. When I point out that there are some users who have very few or no problems - it in NO WAY is an attempt to minimize the problems that people ARE having or deflect any blame whatsoever from Ford for this fiasco. I take things VERY literally, so if someone posts something that I think is patently false then I will correct it. Saying that everyone is having problems is false. Saying that Ford is not making any effort to fix the problem is false. All I'm trying to do is keep the facts in perspective. I'm not out to defend Ford as I have repeatedly said that they totally screwed the pooch on this one. Now let's get back to discussing the MFT rewrite. -
Add nav to a 2011 with myford touch?

There was mention of new maps to go with the new MFT software so there is hope. -
Have you tried pulling fuse 29 to do a hard reset? Won't hurt.

Funny you should say that. I just went to Kroger and they were sold out of the most popular bread brands. Then I remembered the S-word being used (only flurries) and I figured I would be SOL by the time I got to the milk cooler. But it was just the bread - milk and eggs were fine.

Robert Lane - the same one who owns the Fusion Forum, Ecoboost Forum, Flex Forum, BlueOvalForums, etc. There is no connection to Ford corporate that I'm aware of.

I'm not rehashing this again - we've been through it several times. If you don't want to believe it then don't believe it - I really don't care.
