  1. Yep and I've never seen any scratches in my paint in the sun. I'm not saying they aren't there, but they're certainly not visible to the casual observer. I think the cloth strip type automatic car washes are relatively safe and a reasonable alternative to hand washing for most consumers.
  2. At this point the best HELP we can give you is to find a new dealer who cares.
  3. No argument there - I agree that brushes and touchless systems can do serious damage. And I'm sure the one I described can do some damage but I don't think it's enough to be visible to the naked eye unless you're a professional and you know what to look for. So it's a good compromise for most folks.
  4. This is too close to a religious discussion that will simply end up in an ongoing argument. Topic closed.
  5. It's a good thing that I don't drive around with a 1000 watt halogen lamp then. Seriously - if I can't see the damage then I don't care.
  6. I've had good luck with the type that uses the long strips of cloth moving back and forth. Never had a problem even on a dark red lincoln LS.
  7. Sure - they work fine. Most aren't quite as accurate - may be off a few hundred feet but they do work. The difference is the size of the screen and audio through the car speakers, plus a few other sync/Nav only features.
  8. Sorry folks, I didn't see the title. I fixed it. wankaplank - we don't need that type of language here, even if you're upset.
  9. Tethering means using your phone's internet connection with other devices, whether that device is sync or a laptop or other device. Most carriers charge extra for tethering. I have an unlimited iphone plan with AT&T (grandfathered). If I add tethering (for an extra fee) I have to switch to the 2 gb limited data plan. I'm sure with some plans you can get tethering for free though.
  10. When you tether thru the sync system you are tethering Sync to your phone, so it's the same thing. You're still using your phone to provide internet access and that's going to cost you on most plans with most carriers.
  11. Tinting your headlights and taillights WILL reduce your visibility at night - there is no way around that, and it's dangerous - that's why it's illegal. Therefore our comments were very smart. Stop the name calling and if you don't want to hear opinions on tinting headlights and taillights then don't post about it.
  12. And the one that absolutely drives me up a freakin' wall when I see it. "Prolly"
  13. EXACTLY!!!!! You probably know the areas I'm talking about.....
  14. I run 38. 2.5 PSI should not dramatically affect fuel economy. If you want to be sure go back to 35 for a tank or two.
  15. I don't recall anyone upgrading and starting to have new problems. Some have upgraded and continued to have existing problems. If it bothers you I'd get the update. If it doesn't really bother you I'd wait.
  16. Nope. It's more than just the switch.
  17. People who stop in the middle of the aisle in the grocery store oblivious to the other people trying to get past them. People who jump a line of cars waiting to turn right or left or people who jump the line of cars waiting to merge. People who type "break' instead of "brake" (multiple times). People who type "would of" or "could of" instead of "would've" or "could've". I could go on for hours......
  18. You could just remove the tint. That will make the headlights a lot brighter.......and legal.
  19. Of course it does. But they don't care because "it looks cool!"
  20. Easy - just get some touch up paint, sand the area smooth, put a little primer on if it's bare metal, then the touch up paint. paintscratch.com can give you a complete kit and instructions.
  21. Electronics usually fail within the first few months or 20 years later.
  22. Just for the record, it's "Voila!", not whala. It's french. How in the world could a dealer justify charging $75 for a 5 minute job?
  23. Upon further research I think it is true that oxygen and nitrogen would behave about the same as far as expansion under heat. However, air contains a lot of water vapor whereas nitrogen contains almost none and I believe that is what makes Nitrogen more stable and causes less variation in pressure between hot and cold conditions. However, the difference is still relatively small and inconsequential to a passenger car or truck.
