Grey's info comes from Ford engineers. I would trust that before I would trust a 3rd party oil mfr. Remember the factory oil is a synthetic blend and you shouldn't have any problems with temps in the teens. Below 0 - maybe. I would wait it out until at least 3K just to be safe. Factory oil should be fine until then.

Both topics were for one vehicle owned by blizzard2010 whose original dealer screwed up trying to fix some relatively minor problems. The dealer never submitted the paperwork to Ford for the repairs and lied to blizzard2010 about it. With a good dealer it would have just been a couple of routine service visits. Not to say blizzard2010 doesn't have a case - he does but it was made 10 times worse by the dealer not Ford. Nothing changed on the 2010 models so there is no reason for such a drastic change on truedelta.com. The sample size isn't large enough to be statistically significant. Sounds like you're looking for an excuse not to buy a 2011 Edge. If so fine - there have been problems. If you're looking for an objective answer then you need to look past a few isolated cases.

Not correct - at least not in the States. The owner's manual specifically says not to add anything and it doesn't say anything about not changing the oil until 1000 miles. Ford doesn't use special additives to seat the rings. Maybe you got confused about not towing a trailer for the first 1000 miles. Here is the quote in addition to the other one already posted. 3000 is way too soon. That's just the dealer drumming up business. I believe the 2011s have a more sophisticated algorithm so you should follow the owner's manual recommendation and wait for the message center to warn you or alternatively you could change it every 6 months if you don't get the change message sooner.

Please understand that only the ones with problems usually post on forums. As an example one dealer reported selling 200 2011 Edge and/or MKX vehicles and only one had a problem. There are thousands of people with no problems. The biggest recurring problem was the PTU seal leak which only affects AWD vehicles in cold climates and that appears to be fixed for the most part. The problems with MyFordTouch and Sync appear to be mostly fixed now. This was truly uncharted territory for any mfr given the complexity of the hardware and software and I don't see this being a long term concern. Every mfr has a few problems nowadays - even Honda. The Edge won't be perfect but should be as close as anything you'd get from Honda or Toyota and in some cases better.

It could be normal depending on what was ahead of your order in the pipeline. Of course it's also possible your dealer doesn't have any allocation and that's not something they'll usually admit. But it won't hurt to ask. Also make sure your order is a priority 10 - that's the best you can get and will ensure it will be first in line (along with other priority 10s from the same dealer).

I'm impressed. I think this will bring back a lot of lost former explorer owners and a lot of new ones who would have otherwise bought a Pilot or a GM Lambda.

Well, HD is a misnomer - it's really just digital radio and just like digital TV it doesn't guarantee great content. It will take years for broadcasters to figure out how to use HD radio optimally and to put more investment into the equipment. Remember right now HD Radio is an additional cost but probably doesn't add any revenue yet (just like HDTV originally).

No reason lemon law wouldn't apply if the vehicle is out of service but it's a case by case thing.
