  1. I reported the same thing last week and you said "I'll believe it when I see it". I guess it's all in the delivery.........
  2. Theoretically it is safe for all vehicles - that's why they approved it. Some think it's borderline though. Bottom line is you probably don't have much choice.
  3. You can't put other stuff on the Sync usb stick. It needs to be clean.
  4. Check the owner's manual - it explains how the push button start works including accessory and on modes. I think you press and release it once for accessory mode.
  5. Seems like that could run your battery down. Maybe they're only powered when off if it's plugged in.
  6. Yes - playlists would be best but you have to use the correct format. Check the syncmyride.com FAQs or forums.
  7. I do but it won't do any good to keep arguing about it. I'll let the others chime in on this one.
  8. It sounds to me like there is a hardware issue on some vehicles that the software can't handle. If that's the case then a new software version can fix it. It's unfortunate that Ford didn't plan ahead with the USB cable unless they notified dealers ahead of time that they needed the cable but the dealers didn't order it. I suspect neither one thought it would be required so soon. Shouldn't be that hard to find a cable though.
  9. I was just going by the OP's account of what was happening.
  10. Sorry - that part was for Wilsons66604, not you.
  11. The usb ports are not powered unless the radio is on. I could be wrong but I don't believe the usb ports on computers are powered when the computer is turned off so this is no different. You could always put your music on a usb stick instead of the ipod.
  12. The lack of text to speech is an iphone limitation, not a sync limitation. Most cell phone mfrs and service providers have not fully implemented all of the required bluetooth interface profiles necessary to provide these advanced features or have not implemented them correctly. There probably are some sync bugs with some features but by and large if Sync advertises a feature that your phone doesn't support - it's the phone, not sync. Especially when the feature works with other phones (like text to speech).
  13. Absolutely! Take it back to the dealer. Door alignment issues are common and easily corrected. You shouldn't get any grief from the dealer.
  14. I stand corrected - it will connect to a wi-fi hotspot too. But I don't think this would be very useful without the built-in browser. The USB mobile broadband connection can be used to get internet access and make it available via wi-fi inside the car.
  15. I can't remember where but one dealer had the cable and software release and was going to install it on a customer's vehicle yesterday. I don't think it's been distributed to all dealers yet but they are installing the new software at the factory. Check with your dealer - I'm sure they'll all be getting it within the next week or so. The web browser was advertised as "late availability" which means you'll get it with a sync update later. No false advertising, just impatient owners.
  16. I don't know why you would connect to your home Wi-Fi network, but I believe the feature is intended to take a 3G data interface connected via USB like you would use for a laptop and connect it to Sync. Sync then would provide a wi-fi hotspot for all other devices in the vehicle. This would work for laptops and ipod touches, etc. that have Wi-Fi but not cell data service. Or you could use it instead of your cell phone data connection.
  17. New software becoming available. Check with your dealers.
  18. Pretty sure that's normal - start the car without the driver's seatbelt and you should get the warning. If you click it then unclick it after you're underway I think it assumes you know you're not wearing it and doesn't warn you.
  19. Unclear whether they'll issue a recall or service notice, but the dealers will be notified (they need a new cable plus the new software) so just keep checking with the dealer if you're having problems. It's not something you can download yourself.
  20. Reported by owners in other threads here and/or other forums.
  21. The first patch is already available and being distributed to dealers now. Hopefully it fixes the major issues. I'd expect more updates over the next several months as they work through all the issues.
  22. Not sure why Ford would be "worried" about lemon laws. They know this is a serious problem. I don't think it's widespread but it's certainly not isolated. I don't think there is any chance that Ford is NOT taking this seriously. This is a big black eye on Ford's recent quality gains and they need to get it fixed asap.
  23. I agree the support staff should have a better answer for customers. Hopefully they learn from this one and get better. However, the dealer has already acknowledged that this is a problem and they're working on a fix, so the problem itself is not being ignored. Remember that car mfrs don't generally deal directly with customers on warranty issues - that's what dealers are for. It's not ideal sometimes but that's the system we're stuck with thanks to automotive franchise laws. Just because it's a software problem on the infotainment system doesn't make it different than some other warranty problem like a bad engine or bad transmission. The process is the same.
  24. Just remember - TANSTAAFOC (There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Oil Change) You're paying for it somewhere.
