If that's the case then maybe everyone needs to disconnect the negative battery cable for 30 minutes or so. That will kill everything - more than just pulling fuse 29.

Your vehicles are modified to be able to use 25% - basically they have to be flex-fuel E-85 capable to use more than 15% Ethanol.

Correct. The slot is right next to the fob reader in case the battery is low. The metal key is only to open the door.

Autoclimate Control Issue?
akirby replied to GreenDragon68's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Turning back on when you start the car is probably normal but it's hard to say for sure unless the owner's manual describes it. What did the OM say? I believe what's happening with defrost is that you have 2 modes - automatic and manual. When you set the temp to 68 and you're in automatic mode it will warm up the interior to 68 so you'd get warm air if it's below 68. When you switch to defrost you're in manual mode and 68 becomes the actual air temp. Try putting the temp on 80 or 85 when selecting defrost and see if that warms up the air. If not then it's probably defective. -
My Lincoln Touch add Navigation
akirby replied to sdhillon007's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
It's possible down the road but as of right now the dealers can't add the SD Nav to a unit that didn't come with it from the factory. The Nav software has to be loaded and it must be matched with the SD card. Supposedly this will be available in a few months. -
Check the remote carefully. It should have the name. I did a search for Sure Start but it didn't have a remote.

That is definitely an aftermarket add-on.

There is no remote to activate Battery Saver - it's always on and is standard. Which remote are you referring to?

Using iPhone iPod via Bluetooth

You might want to read up on all of the Sync/My Ford Touch issues on the 2011s. Some systems are totally dead. -
Asking people who know stuff - lease
akirby replied to jkeith00's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
I think the high residual comment was just an observation, not a comment on the deal. Don't worry about the numbers - just compare the monthly payment and up front cash. -
Asking people who know stuff - lease
akirby replied to jkeith00's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Leasing is just another financing option. First you should decide whether you plan to keep the vehicle longer than 2 or 3 years or if you want to walk away. Then you can do the math on a lease deal vs. buy if you decide you want to walk away after 2 or 3 years. Or you can opt to lease, then buy it out which would stretch out the payments longer and keep the payment lower. Leasing is more convenient if you want to get a new car every 2 or 3 years but it's harder to get out of early. As to whether that's a good deal or not the only way to know is to shop around and compare prices from multiple dealers. X plan deals are usually very good and should be the same price at any dealer assuming it works the same as purchasing on X plan. -
Does anyone have a 2011 Edge that works?
akirby replied to juscruzn's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I agree with that but that's not what you said. No kool-aid here. I understand Ford screwed up and have said so many times. But that's no reason to exaggerate the consequences or causes. If one phone supports contact photos (which you confirmed) but others don't then that's a phone problem. If one phone works and others don't then that also points to a phone problem not a sync problem. Anything that causes the system to lock up is a MFT problem. -

akirby replied to juscruzn's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
So it didn't work with iPhone old OS or Windows phone 7 but it DOES work with iPhone OS 4.2.1? Troubleshooting 101 says if it works with one phone but not the others then it's a phone problem. Not saying there isn't also a sync problem but your evidence doesn't support that theory. -
They actually discontinued the cargo cover when they added reclining rear seats to the explorer a few years ago for that very reason.

Have you tried updating the phone's firmware? -
Display stays on after the vehicle is turned off.

MY SYNC KEEPS ADDING THE SAME SONGS FROM USB
akirby replied to JOEYPUCK's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
No need to yell..........what do you mean it copies the same songs? Sync doesn't copy songs. -
Mainstream Media Discusses Safety of MFT
akirby replied to rkaplan's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Oh really? Then why hasn't Alcohol been outlawed? There is no doubt that anything in the vehicle that's operated by or interacted with by the driver has the potential for distraction. Changing the radio or adjusting the climate controls are distracting. Carrying on a conversation with a passenger or eating is distracting to some degree. The issue I have is they seem to be arbitrarily drawing a line in the sand as to what is too distracting. And you're not going to stop people from doing certain distracting things even if they're illegal so if you can make them less distracting by using voice commands I think that's a good thing. Just like we make cars safer to protect people even when they make a mistake and have a wreck. -
Actually I based my posts on other posts AND info from Ford factory employees. I said they were putting the new software release into the new vehicles and they were getting ready to release the software to dealers along with a new cable. Which is EXACTLY what hancop reported last night. I was also right about sync support for contact photos being a phone issue, not a sync issue. I just thought I'd point this out since you'll never admit I was right about anything.

Does the Edge have auto lock?
akirby replied to tknice's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Just a clarifiction - that only works on the push button start fob, not with the regular keys. If you leave a regular key in the vehicle and someone breaks in and gets they regular key they can start the vehicle. -
If YOU do something to your car then nobody else can be held accountable. If the dealer (or any other business) knowingly sells you tires without the TPMS sensors and you have an accident due to low tire pressure then the dealer could and would be held liable. I don't see how you can blame the dealer for not opening themselves up to a lawsuit. If you want to blame someone blame the gov't for making them mandatory. The 20 minute delay is when the sensor is not installed. If the sensor is installed and you have low pressure or you get a faulty reading then you get the light immediately - no delay.
