  1. Yes I got one from eBay for about 50$ and programmed it the first try, after they resent me the correct chip key. I got the switchblade one but the have the key alone for about 20$.
  2. I have a 2011 SEL with Bliss and have no issues that you detailed above. Your dealer is incorrect or being devious. There is a version 2.8 available and it does address some of the issues with 2.4. not sure if your issues are involved but there is no reason not to update (for free) under warranty. Check this forum, print out some of the 2.8 advantages and bring to your dealer. Thats what I did in April when I had problems with Sync and my iPhone 4.
  3. Yes, most of the early problems were improved with the 2.8 upgrade and I have had only minor problems in the last 3 months. The car drives great and handles well too. Pretty large inside as well. Waiting for the Fall Sync upgrade.
  4. or press the last two keys on the drivers door external keypad at the same time, locks all doors if the key is not in the car.
  5. The english version may be contained on the original CD. You might want to get that from the person or dealer you bought it from.
  6. Nope, using Ver 2.8 and have had some problems but 2.8 is improved over 2.4 which came with my car, made also in Jan 2011. Yes there are some problems still but I can deal with most of them. I use nav, sirius, and voice most of the time but use the buttons to access climate and other things. About 2 months ago I was feeling like you, tho. Good Luck, whatever you decide.
  7. I have not driven the 2010 version but I have the 2011, which has upgraded the suspension. Its not a sports car like my 08 miata but handles pretty well for a bigger car. Perhaps you can look at the suspension changes to the 2011 and upgrade your 2010. Upgraded sway bars front and rear are a fairly cheap investment. Just a thought.
  8. Oh, forgot the back seat features of the MDX. Rear DVD is centrally located and flips up and down so its out of the way. Bluetooth headsets are included (2) for the kids. The audio is rear controllable as is the rear blower and air temp so the MDX has a 3 station AC, (driver, passenger, rear) for both temp and blower. Thats pretty nice for the kids in the back.
  9. I bought the Edge, my daughter (with 3 kids), bought the Acura MDX--both same color as it turns out. The MDX is slightly tighter in turns and aggressive driving but no major difference. I have some features and she has others but the main feature I miss on hers is the BLIS system, very useful as it turns out. Her nav system with the stick mouse is slower than the sync touch screen when actually trying to add addresses and just navigating the screens. She has the power liftgate, I don't--but could have gotten it with the Limited vs my SEL. Her sunroof is real small and the Vista roof is nicer. Of course she has the 3rd row seating she needs. But my back seat is a little roomier than the MDX. The leather is nicer in MDX tho. She paid about $12K more. And the MFT is nicer with the screens on the dash with the speedometer. Pretty similar cars but I would take the edge again, even tho I have had some Sync issues.
  10. Well, now is a great time to trade-in since used cars are in high demand. Good luck.
  11. Yes I have run into the same situation where the power steering seems to be more difficult to turn at low speeds. Its a momentary situation. Wondering if its normal??? Ill bring it up to the dealer at first oil change in a couple of months.
  12. Keep the wheels they look good congrats and good luck
  13. just for comparison, in April 2011 I got that exact car, in Bergundy, for 29850 after all rebates. Also got good trade in values for my cars. So there are those deals around.
  14. +1, Exactly! We don't trust Ford to do the right thing with MFT because they are not forthcoming. I just hope the news about a Microsoft team assigned to fix all issues is true and that we eventually get a solution to everyone's problem. Thank goodness for this and other forums to give us some information we can use as ammunition with the dealer in the short term. Keep it coming.
  15. This site or the fordsyncforum.com are the best for dealing with sync/MFT problems. V2.8 seems to be the latest fix but its not perfect. I got it about a month ago and my phone and media problems are mostly fixed. no more reboots needed now. I am assuming there will be further updates soon to fix the remaining problems. I brought some of the early posts on this topic to the dealer regarding V2.8 and they gave me the upgrade under warranty without any problem. Took 2 days though. Ill go again as updates are available. Never got a letter from ford or announcement in syncmyride.com to get updates.
  16. Good info, thanks I will keep an eye on my panoramic roof. BTW, have you looked into WEBASTO.com. They are a sunroof aftermarket and OEM supplier. I bet they have lots of info on various issues with sunroofs if they are willing to deal with you. Their prices should also be a lot cheaper than the dealer. Just a thought. You might run by the distributor/store in your area.
  17. Well, I ordered the FORD OEM bumper part and after another 2 weeks wait since dealer had to reorder because the first was in such bad shape, I finally got it. Looked pretty good until I followed the install instructions from FORD and put it on. Got lots of bubbles under the flimsy overlay which you cannot get out. I tried making holes with a pin and that was moderately successful, most of the big bubbles are gone but its very hard to get all the trapped air out. in retrospect, I should have used the install technique from the tinted window people, spray the bumper with an alcohol, water, detergent mix and squeegee the water out. this prevents air from being entrapped. Now its a mess. I probably will get the rigid streetsideauto.com part for the Scion xb and just put it over the OEM one. (ps, my wife liked the EDGE name on the OEM product but it doesn't look good with little bubbles trapped underneath). Its too thin, in my opinion.
  18. Or screw in a couple of "FORD" button emblems/screw caps.
  19. I have v 2.8 with iphone and do NOT have this problem, but could it have something to do with the changes in Sirius channels recently. Does it go to the OLD channel? If you use the presets it goes to the NEW channels.
  20. If its petroleum based VASELINE, petroleum jelly should work. Also, you can try wd40. Neither should attack the paint or fender materials. Both work on tar on feet from oil leaks at the beach. Use carefully at first and test a small area.
  21. I too had problems with 2.4 and upgraded to 2.8 as a result of this forum, on my 2011 EDGE. Yes its much better, but it locked up twice, seemingly after I added my iphone to my wife's on Sync; Hers is the primary phone. 2.8 is better because when it locks up, turning on and off the car makes it go thru a maintenance update and reset without losing all your data or cell connections. However, here's my thought---do you think there is a conflict between SIRIUS and Sync/MFT??? Reason I ask is that when my phone is the only one in the car, it takes about 90 seconds to linkup. If my wife's phone is the only one in the car, it hooks up in about 10 seconds. Also, if both our phones are in the car, only hers links up. One time we met at a restaurant and took two cars, parking next to each other. I had the EDGE. When we left, my car linked to HER phone in the other car even though it had my phone active when I turned the car off. She called me and the car was linked to her phone driving ahead in another car. Funny. I did an experiment where I went to Sync and made my phone the primary phone. Her phone still linked up. With my phone, all the Sync services, traffic, movies, sports, etc do not link up, never have. keeps on the hour glass mode. I haven't checked if they will with my wife's phone yet. Here's the link to Sirius: Sirius will take only ONE phone number, which is my wife's. I called them yesterday and they say all services are active, etc. Both Sirius and Sync have traffic services etc. Could Sirius be controlling Sync where it always tries to look for It's active phone, my wife's, FIRST even if Sync has mine as the active one? Then when system, Sync and Sirius, each has a different primary phone, the system hangs because it can't resolve whose phone is really primary. I wonder if Ford has considered this? I have not yet tried to correlate this but will look into it some more. I may be way off base on this but there must be a reason why people have these problems with Sync.
  22. Bought an 2011 Edge SEL with panoramic roof, vision system, Sync/MFT, chrome wheels, etc, MSRP 36190, for 30100 after rebates, dealer discount, and plus tax and license. Used internet to negotiate car and went to dealer only to have my tradein, cars evaluated. Got tradein value, not private party, for my two old cars--they were in good shape. Deal was done in mid April. Car was from another dealer they took in trade for another customer and had 86 miles on it. happy with Edge so far, even tho navigation is not very up to date. Have to investigate that more.
  23. My SEL was built the end of January and had v2.4 installed. The dealer DID install V2.8 as recommended on this post. I gave the service guy a copy of the OP comments. They must have had a difficult time, or didnt know the correct procedure since my SYNC install history shows some installs and UNINSTALLS prior to installation of v 2.8. Just got it back today and its working MUCH better as shown in the OP. So far so good. Will update as required and keeping fingers crossed. (knocking wood too).
  24. I'm with you on the class action vs lemon law argument. If the car is really a lemon let's get our money back and move on. I am one of those whose 2011 Edge is presently in the shop for Sync/iphone problems. Lets see if they can fix the issue. 'Im hopeful based on some of the comments in this forum, and not turning more negative. Many of the recent gadgets have glitches which took some weeks to iron out. I guess part of the problem is that Ford pushed the SYNC talk to call and listen aspects pretty hard in their commercials in the last few years. Maybe marketing out ran the technical team or maybe Ford underestimated the extent of technology needed, more likely. To me its like Windows Vista vs Windows 7. Vista was a dog to most and 7 is vastly simpler and improved. Ford/MS need to make that realization with Sync. What's frustrating many is that we really don't know what Ford's/MS position is. I'm willing to give the dealer a chance but keep them on a short leash. Lets see. I appreciate the comments in this and FordEdgeForum very much. I hope Ford/MS are searching these as well for what's happening in the real world.
