  1. I assume you mean a 17' (17 foot) as opposed to a 17" (17 inch) RV trailer. If such is the case, the Edge would not be able to two that type of trailer anyway. Maximum towing capacity is about 3500 pounds. That's why you won't find a weight distribution hitch for the Edge.
  2. Too bad you did not discover this on your test drive. Kinda wonder if the dealer knew about this, and if not, how well they inspect the used cars they sell. I think I would have a conversation and ask if the dealership will split the deductible with you. This is one case where the extended warranty has probably more than paid for itself.
  3. I had my screen go black with 2.4. I disconnected the battery for a few minutes, then reconnected. That corrected that once. But the underlying problem still existed. So the dealer tried to upgrade to 2.8, and was not successful. So they ordered a new screen(?). New screen did not resolve not being able to upgrade, so they put a different tech on the problem. Original screen took the upgrade and all has been fine since.
  4. No crystal ball here, so don't have any idea how long the Sync/MFT will last. Some, like myself, have had issues within the first week or so, with the unit going down. If the dealer in your area is not up to speed on this thing, you may struggle.
  5. Reminds me of a B.B. King song, The Thrill Is Gone.
  6. I would suspect a sticky switch, but I'm no expert.
  7. Click on "Select Film Type". This will open a small window. From there you either click on "Add to Cart" or "Cancel". Surely you can figure it out from that point.
  8. On the right side of the page, click on "Car Navigation". This will open another page. Again on the right side, click on "Ford". This will again open a new page. Just left of center, under "Step 1: Model", click on "Select". A drop down will appear. Select "Edge '11". Seems easy enough.
  9. Welcome to one of the random issues with Sync. You might try disconnecting the negative cable on the battery for a few minutes, then reconnect. That will cause a cold boot of the Sync system. Hopefully then, all will come back normal. You may need to have the software updated as well. Check with your dealer and see what version you have. The latest version is 2.8, but it has problems as well.
  10. Glad it worked out. They look pretty sharp.
  11. Back seats are stationary. Head rests on the back seats are removable. Two, large suitcases plus some other luggage fit nicely in the back of mine with the rear seats in the "up" position.
  12. I think the factory's look much better, but it's not my ride.
  13. Well here's my story. Took it to the dealer following a black screen issue which took out the radio and the climate controls. They spent an hour trying to get it up and running, without luck. I told them, let me take the car home. When I get home I'll disconnect the battery and see if it will reset. In the meantime, let's make an appointment, I'll drop the car off, and you can have it an entire day to update the software. Made the appointment, went home and disconnected the battery, all is good. Drop the car off Monday after work, they have the care the entire Tuesday. I call at 3 pm, to check, all is ready to go. Pick the car up at 4:30 pm, they could not upgrade the program, and have ordered a new module. Huh? So wait about 10 days for the new module, it comes in, take the car in and I tell them, I'm here until the car is ready. Two hours into it, I check, they tell me the new module won't take the upgrade. (They were hoping the new module would have the latest software already, which it did not.) So I asked if they had the same tech working on it that worked on my car the entire day previously. They said yes, so I told them to put a new set of eyes on the job. So they did, and an hour and a half later, I was driving home with the original module, and the upgrade. I think some techs understand the technology and are able to work with it, some maybe not as much.
  14. I understand the order close out date is already past.
  15. Disconnect the battery for a few minutes. Reconnect, and start the car. See if the Sync unit will then reboot and operate. Won't be a permanent fix, but may keep it going til you get to the dealer. Say, isn't Monday a holiday? Remember those who served to ensure your freedom.
  16. In the mean time, if you disconnect the negative battery cable for a few minutes, and reconnect, the Sync system should reset upon restart.
  17. On the Edge, when the fob battery goes dead, all you do is insert the fob into its slot in the console, and the vehicle should start without issue.
  18. There have been some problems with these. I had mine for a week and the display went black. (Had version 2.3 of the software.) Lost the radio at the same time. Quickly whipped into the dealer, and after an hour, they could not get it to respond. Took it home and disconnected the battery for ten minutes and reconnected. Unit rebooted and worked fine. Took it back to the dealer and left it for a day. There was a TSB that my VIN was affected. They attempted to upload an upgrade to the software. They were able to load the base software (version 2.7), but in the process, I lost functions for heated seats, ambient lighting, radio parameters (bass, treble, balance, fade), backup camera. So they ordered a new unit. Scheduled for replacement tomorrow, so we'll see. I don't have the TSB info, but you might check with the dealer and see if they looked for one and if it covers your Edge.
  19. I've had mine for three weeks now. It has 1500 miles on the odometer. My average fuel economy is 24.7 per the readout; 24.2 doing the math. Most of my driving is highway. Give it some time.
  20. Hi All. Will be picking up a 2011 Edge Limited FWD in Kona Blue tomorrow. This will be my second Ford. First was a Pinto, so it's been awhile. Coming off a 2007 GMC Sierra 4x4, so it's going to be a culture shock, but I'm looking forward to all the technology that Ford has put into this vehicle. What sold me on looking to Ford for my next vehicle, is that I feel Ford stood on it's own during this recession, refusing to take a handout, and has continued to bring new concepts, improved safety, better engineering, and advanced product enhancements to the market. At the same time, GM has cut it's lineup, and dished out basically the same tired offerings. Simply no excitement from the General. Basically looking to see what's been done to personalize your Edge, what's worked, what has not. I'm interested in hardwiring my Bel, adding a trailer hitch, and I'm sure I'll have some questions as time goes on.
