  1. Enjoy your ride. Like mentioned the changes are minor. Unless you sell your cars often then getting a 2011 won't matter as the model year will get your a higher resale in the first 2-3 years until they level out.
  2. Yeah there are no differences that make waiting for a 2013 worth it at this point. I would not expect the 3.5L EB to ever come to the Edge this model revision. What options are you not thrilled with? I just got a 2012 with all the option except the rear entertainment and I'm very happy with every feature.
  3. He does have a mobile dyno I think. Maybe he will come to a big event in south FL and we can do a package deal with a couple edges while in the area.
  4. I believe it's usually their higher fee until they place the order and it goes into the system as x-plan pricing. Then it will adjust and it's out of their control as it's against x-plan rules. That was the case when I ordered my car. The actual price wasn't official until it went through as x-plan. If they do actually charge you the higher fee then they didn't run it as x-plan.
  5. The housing is a sealed unit so you need to open it up to get to the bulbs. Not very difficult and there are some posts on here on how to do it.
  6. BTW that's awesome that the FXr almost bolts right in. My RX350BX projectors are slightly different but I will basically be doing the same thing. It's very easy to retrofit these headlights other than opening them. For sealing them up I would use this http://shop.lightwerkz.net/Koito-Butyl-Rubber-Sealer as it's the best OEM stuff you can get. If your housings are really damaged you might need some butyl tape too so it water tight.
  7. Permaseal does not break down from heat. It slightly makes it pliable but you need to physically break the bond. Lightwerkz recommends 7-10 mins at 220 and then trying to get it moving then another 10 mins at 220-230. Any higher temp and time and the housings start to melt.
  8. The metal part the flips down to allow light to pass is called the cutoff shield. That's how all OEM bi-xenon HID works. Those cheap hid kits with moving shields on the bulbs are crap and a waste of money. Projectors must be used in a HID setup unles your reflectors were specifically designed for OEM hid D2R D4R etc bulbs. Since the Edge has bi-halogen projectors already it's somewhat decent to add a plug and play kit without potentially blinding drivers (killing them or yourself when they hit you on a dark road). D1 bulbs have integrated ignighters on the bulb base. D2 bulbs have the ignighters sep and they are connected to the ballast via a special high voltage cable. The D3 and D4 versions are the same as D1 and D2 respectively but they are newer versions that have no mercury in the bulbs. Performance is the same just more eco friendly disposal or in the event of one breaking. Here is a picture how the cutoff shield works. When highbeam is activated it flips down. When this happens the light from the lower portion of the bowl is allowed to pass through the lens. The lens then flips and projects the light upwards creating light above where the shield originally blocked.
  9. Not sure about Canada but contact Troy by filling out a request here http://fd-warranty.com/. These online dealers are really just regular Ford franchise dealers that chose to sell the warranty plans online for extra revenue. They sell them at $100-$200 over cost so they make profit on the volume of sales. When you get the same warranty in person at your local dealer they slap a $500-$600 profit on top of the warranty cost as most don't know about buying it online.
  10. Basically same conclusion that I came to. The OEM projectors are nothing great just basic hella E55 style. If one would go through the trouble it would be better to do a retrofit with some quality projectors. I'm putting a pair of RX350BX projectors with clear lenses and osram CBIs at 55w.
  11. I would never buy a 3rd party warranty ever. Seems to be a lot of other people who disagree that warranty direct (aka about 2 other companies) is a good company http://warranty-direct.pissedconsumer.com/ The Ford premium ESP is basically the same as the factory warranty. There are only the basic wear and tear items that aren't covered anyways normally.
  12. 3M Crystaline is what it's called and it's by far the best heat rejection and UV rejection tint you can buy. It only goes down to 40% but as light as 90% (OEM glass is 70%). The 90% version is new and was created to go on car with really strict laws about tint as it is clearer than glass. The standard is the 70% version and it's phenominal. I too have it on my entire front windshield and it is basically needed in FL. It has amazing heat rejection and that is better than most other tints at 5%. A lot of high end exotics get 3M all around as owners don't want dark tints on their ferraris and lambos when they want to been seen but not roasted from the sun.
  13. The OEM light bars are not bright enough for DRL use. They are just parking lamps. You need to mod them with the brighter light bars.
  14. It sucks for me because I can't buy the Ford ESP online as it's against the law in Florida. So I have to pay full price. EDIT: called around and it's still possible to do in FL but some places still say they cant.
  15. I know it's been mentioned on here before that it's much cheaper to purchase the ESP online. I was quoted $1600 at the dealer for the 7yr/100k. Troy Ford (one of the online guys) is having a year end sale right now. The same plan from them is normally is $1250 but there is an instant $200 credit so the 7yr/100K premium ESP with $100 deductable is just over $1000. Heck of a deal for anyone on the fence about the ESP. The zero deductable is an extra $495 which isn't worth it for me since you would have to visit Ford 5 times in those 4 years for major issues to recover that back. I'd rather pay the $100 to save my ass if something big goes wrong. Plans differ depending on FWD or AWD and current mileage (1-12K /12k-36K / out of warranty). http://www.troy-ford-extended-warranty.com/
  16. I have a new Sport and I also have the adjustable headrests.... Might be only available from the factory due to shortages in that leather color?
  17. Now that I got my car on Sat all my detailing stuff is almost here. I have bulk sizes of the most used of the optimum products on the way (OPC, No Rinse, Spray Wax, interior protectant, and opti-bond tire gel). On top of that I also have their new MF pads for my flex and their spray hyper polish to do a one light polish on the entire car. Then I have some opti-coat 2.0 to seal it up nicely. I also bought some Wolf's Chemical Decon Gel (Deironizer) as a general maintenance cleaner for the wheels. The wheels will be cleaned fully and opticoated too. The Wolf's gel is an awesome product that works just like Sonax wheel cleaner but doesn't need aggitation. It's also safe to use on paint as a decon step.
  18. For album art is it set to "on" in the settings? Is gracenote set to be on?
  19. I was talking about fully adjustable street coilovers. Like the KW V3 I had on my 650. Could adjust compression and rebound independently along with the height.
  20. I am going to order some springs now that my edge is here. I've always done coilovers but there are none available that I know of without going custom race setup which I do not want.
  21. Do not get 8000K bulbs unless you want less light than the stock halogens. If you want OEM performance get 4100-4300K. It will be brightest with a nice warm color and most lumens. If you want a pure white then get 5000K but you start losing lumens. The purple/blue color comes from the light bending around the shield and going through the optics. Thats why people color mod the shields to increase the color band (color flickr). It would be a waste of money to go 8K.
  22. Took delivery on Sat and couldn't be more excited. The car is awesome and I love it.
  23. My dealer tried to get it removed before being built and Ford wouldn't do it. Really stupid as it looks like crap with the front place. A new piece is on order so I will be good.
  24. Just got my 2012 Sport yesterday and have the adjustable headrests. Was built about 3 weeks ago.
  25. Got my car today right off the truck before being prepped. It had the front plate drilled on. Spoke with the guy who does all the ordering and he even tried to call ford to have them take it off the order but they couldn't. They are not installed at the dealer.
