  1. SO I take it the ballast's are some what inter-changeable from OEM to after markets. Is there a plug standard like we have for bulbs or is it every manufacturer for themselves ? Does simply placing a 55watt ballast in place of the stock ones equate to an appreciable increase in lumens. Without opening a can of quantum mechanics on ya ... I do know about lumens aka candle power, and I would tend to argue that "more intense" would, could be synonymous with more candle power and therefore more light. But I think I get the point you were trying to describe.. and I do appreciate the information as I am in learn mode still on the new tech on my Edge. My other "AWD" (ah) 4x4 is a vintage '74-78 Toyota Landcruiser FJ40, not much tech there. :shades: <- Tac engages his ocular photonic shields !
  2. Found it .. actually found a few. Some of the wires with smaller gauges have got to be for modules, as they wouldn't hold the current draw of my Garmin GPS. The one I ended up using was a heavier gauge, white (or light grey) that went live on the 2nd ignition press. This one was 12VDC and had enough current to bring the Garmin online. (secondary navigation system) This makes me happy
  3. Ditto - only I'm looking for it in the wire loom by the drive's side kicker panel. I'd rather tap the actual wire then mess with the fuse.
  4. Are the ballast that you're referring to, are those the sandwich sized, silver boxes attached to the inboard side of the light housings ?
  5. I have the factory HIDs on my 2011 Limited 302A rapid spec. How do these stack up against the after market retro fits people are doing? I think the stock is just 35 watts and like the Sony sound system it's simply anemic and needs some more wattage in the cottage ! I've seen 55watt after markets bulbs. Does anyone have a part number on maximum wattage main bulbs?
  6. Im pretty sure that the reason why some of the tints reveal a haze to the windows is due to polarizing properties that might be in the film. This polarization can reveal this inner laminates in the glass. I first noticed this with a good pair of glasses who's claim to fame was to allow the wearer to see into water (fishing). When I looked through my car windows the first time I could clearly see the "rubber glue" that is used to hold the sheets together and keep all the shards in place when it breaks ... I could be wrong ....
  7. I'm about to activate my Sirius and travel link. I'm told by several people to not take the first offer. You can bargain with them to get a better price and then at renewal ... do it again. Question is ... is the travel link built into a package with Sirius, a separate add-on, or purchased from some where else all together. And what is a good price for the mid line package ? I think it's called Select 130 ? Answer is: Sirius Travel Link™ and Sirius Traffic™ are add-ons to what ever package you're getting or have. $1.99 and $3.99 respectively.
  8. Cdpratt .. that's not lazy ... it's the privilege of wisdom, age and money ! :shades:
  9. I'm telling ya .. when that baby is open .. its almost like having a convertible. 85`f today and no need for airco ! Also thing I'm groovin on big time is the Adaptive Cruise Control. You Sportie pilots don't know what you're missing !! This feature should be built-in to any cruise control made. It really takes cruise control to a whole new level ! I have the factory HIDs - anyone got a good part number on a maximum wattage main bulb? I think the stock is just 35 watts and like the Sony sound system it's simply anemic and needs some more wattage in the cottage !
  10. Great minds think alike ... those and the silver thing on the steering wheel ! document with pictures or video when you do it ... both the removal of the panels and the 3M Dinoc carbon fiber.
  11. It's been a long 3 month process for me and my Edge to finally meet in person and now we've started a relationship. Hello, my name is Tac and I'm in love with my Edge ! (is this wrong ?) I live in the far western burbs of Chicago and have been lurking these forums whilst I do my research for a new vehicle. My last love was a Dodge Gen2 intrepid that I still have with 249,000 on her. I tend to hold on to the things I love and take care of them. I was specific on my next relationship, 2011/2012. Limited. AWD. Push button/remote start. But most important it had to talk to me. (no I don't mean MFT either) When I found my Edge it had ~8500 miles on it. Had the 302A rapid spec and when asked what else, the private seller responded, everything ! Since sitting in my first Edge with its smooth body lines, it's futuristic cockpit display, and that vista sun roof, I knew that was going to be mine. ok - so enough of that ... this car rocks ! it's got 11k on her now and as one of the other new members said, let the mods begin! Its metallic earth, the front grill is getting wrapped in black (Thanks Dingo and Cellbine - Hey Cellbine, your sig really helped my decision !) I've already replaced the license plate and dome lights to white LEDs. Next are the rear dome, cargo and a possible alternate vision of the puddle and rear hatch lights. We'll see. I've got more ideas as well for lighting both safety and utilitary in design. I'll document them as they happen. I've mounted my Garmin 2455-LMT by the a-pillar and ran its power behind the molding. Imagine my surprise and excitement when I popped the a-pillar molding and saw the side curtain air bag .. not knowing if the next sound would be the bang of my air bag ! I do have some questions but I'll try to place those in the appropriate forum are.
