  1. What makes you think that is a windows font ? There are literally thousands of fonts .... the one that don't come in windows (or other OS) are usually $$. That looks like some graphic shop did and if so ... no telling. try this - go to google, select images, input "digital font", press enter and marvel in the assortment !
  2. I've had my Edge now for about 5 months and I'm getting to know her like I did my wife, by spending time together 45 minutes in the am and then again in the PM. Some things that I've noticed that are complete opposites of each other and at times frustrating.... 1) When I get into the driver's seat, one out of twenty times, it forgets who I am and plasters me to the steering wheel. I don't like the taste of steering wheel. I've set, reset, and did it again numerous times to no avail. (things that bug me) 2) This is cool. When you press the bug juice squirter and the wipers go back and forth doing their job. What is the next thing must of you do? About 30 seconds later you manually make the wipers take one or two more passes to catch the remaining bug juice slipping down the window. Someone at Ford had their thinking cap on that that day in design class. Try that on your Edge .. it does it automatically ! 3 sweeps - waits about 10 seconds and takes another swipe ! THAT is thinking outside the box and taking it to the next level ! (things that amaze me) These are just two of my examples. Tell us yours !
  3. Omar & Cellbine - apocalypse averted. Never thought THAT would reset itself. actually forgot that was there ...
  4. So - long story short - had to do a F29 reset to resolve BT no longer working with cell phone. And I just noticed that when the reverse camera is on and the proximity zone alerts are sounding, I no longer have the colored squared. (green, yellow, red) While this is not a huge issue its handy to see the visual queues as well as it being on the left side or right side. And it would be nice if everything on my $43,000 car worked! Anyone run across this and figured it out? Has any one "re-flashed" the system with the same version of software to make sure that none of the code got horked ?
  5. Quinnlacey - re the sound system. Unmodified ... meh. You won't impress anyone. There are three things running against you with the sony sound system. 1) the speaker cones are plastic. These are basically $4 speakers from Ford. The two front and rear doors are the easiest to replace and replacing them with something like Infinity 6829CF's at all four spots will give you the most bang for the buck. (HA ! pun intended) hint: ebay em .. ~$90 a pair. You'll want two pair. 2) the Sony sound system starts to drastically attenuate the bass frequencies around 65% volume. So just when it gets to sounding good .. it goes anemic. 3) there is no simple way to clean up #2 (HA !! another funny) as in there are no pre-outs to connect a add-on amplifier to. However, as you'll find out when you do your own research on this, there are ways to mitigate this with a sound processor which then allows for a add on amplifier. I am told the end result of this is pretty good. A vast improvement in the factory design.
  6. first sir let me say - thank you for your service ! Second, welcome to the asylum. Where we're all nutz about our Edges
  7. Droid Razr Maxx I currently have plays nice. It reads my texts to me when I'm lonely which my former Droid X didn't do. I think that most of the current Droids should be fine.
  8. Lowery89 - HA ! a lot has changed here, I'm in the burbs. This year we've virtually had NO SNOW ! two dustings and that is it ! Major bummer for those of us who enjoy the white stuff (snow)
  9. My drivers side belt does this (on right hand turns mostly) and ratchets me down into the seat. I have to exhale and scrunch down to get it to release. If someone discovers a "blue pill" fix, I to would be interested.
  10. tpm419419 - "don't need to reboot the phone but make sure it is physically off and then on" not to nitpick (okay I will) what is the difference between "rebooting" and "powering off and then on"? Powering down and back on IS a rebooting !! Just sayin! So the moral of the story children .. if it doesn't work, reboot it !
  11. do we know if this also applies to the 2011-2013 Edges AWD ? Sport and non-sport ?
  12. Viper - did you have to hog out the un-used spots .. or were you able to get them thru some how ?
  13. Edgie .. you'd have to set you security key to be only numerical only or open it up completely so that NO security was needed to be entered. The Edge's kybd when you select it is ghosted (no keys lit up) so no way to type any alpha.
  14. awesome .... I'll reciprocate. (hope I don't get dizzy :hysterical2: )
  15. Waldo, WHAT ??? Think of a WiFi receiver in your house or work place. Know how many transmitters/receivers it can connect to ? More than you and I have fingers and toes combined ! When you get the tires rotated .. they have a tool that tells the system that tire "X" is in position 1,2,3 or 4. (LF, RF, RR, & LR) Each TPMS would just need a different serial address to be differentiated one from the next. They all operate at the same frequency (one receiver) and they're very short range to begin with so who cares if you reuse identifications. You could easily preference the serial data with a vehicle code unique to your vehicle. Its simple .. as Omar said .. they took the easy way out or just didn't take that next step and asked themselves "how can we make this really useful. The data is there, its all about computer program to display it. Jeep has been doing this for years ! Edge Learn Procedure ... this looks like the same one the guys at Discount Tire was using. (yep - rub yer head and pat yer belly while standing on one foot) Relearn 1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. Then, press and release the brake pedal. 2. Cycle the ignition switch from the OFF position to the RUN position three times, ending in the RUN position. 3. Press and release the brake pedal. 4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. 5. Turn the ignition switch from the OFF position to the RUN position three times, ending in the RUN position. The horn will sound once and the indicator will flash if the training mode has been entered successfully. If equipped, the message center will display “TRAIN LF TIRE.” 6. It may take up to six seconds to activate a tire pressure sensor. Press and release the test button on the TPMS tool. The horn will sound briefly to indicate that the tire pressure sensor has been recognized by the vehicle. 7. Within two minutes of the horn sounding, place the TPMS tool on the correct position for the sensor and release the test button to train the right front tire pressure sensor. 8. Do not wait more than two minutes between training each sensor or the Smart Junction Box (SJB) will time out and the entire procedure must be repeated. Repeat Step 7 for the right rear and then left rear. The procedure is completed after the last tire has been trained. When the training procedure is complete, the message center (if equipped) will display “TIRE TRAINING COMPLETE.” For vehicles not equipped with a message center, successful completion of the training procedure will be verified by turning the ignition switch to the OFF position without the horn sounding. If the horn sounds twice when the switch is turned to the OFF position, the training procedure was not successful.
  16. just a comment, I was thinking about going a tad wider because I like that look. The next size up for me in the scorps would have been from the 245/50r20 at 8" wide to the 275/50r20 at 8.8" wide. I'd pick up some max weight from 1874lbs to 2403lbs .. BUT I'd lose speed rating from 130 mph down to 118 mph. I know that the computer stops me at about 115 mph, but that is kind of close to the 118 mph. I'd rather have the 15 versus 3 mph buffer, not have the extra .8" inches, and run the risk of some time down the road Ford saying ,,, "well that's why, you've running non-spec tires. We're not covering it. Just my thought process and other specs to consider.
  17. According to Discount Tire's computer system that prints out "reminders" to the tire jockeys on the line, in the Edge there is a kind of rub your head while patting you belly to place the Edge's computer into a "reset mode" I watched as the tire tech tonight try over and over again to get it to cooperate. However after several attempts ... it appeared to just "reset itself" so maybe this is a new thing for the 2011's on. IDK. This was similar to the process to disable the seat belt dinger. Only it worked. Oskar27 - to answer your question about programming for different tire sizes, when you significantly alter the tire diameter size from lets say a 22" or 20" down to a 17" your speed odometer will read as much as 5 mph off. So you see you're doing 65 mph and you're really only doing 60 or 61 mph. In the cars computer, the dealer technician can tell the car's configuration what it has or doesn't have. Which in turn controls what you see and have access to on the instrument cluster. In this case, that its now rollin on 17"s and not 22"s - the computer takes care of the calculations from there. Back in the day, this was a gear on the end of a flexible steel cable that ran from the transmission to the back of the speed odometer. Opps .. I just dated myself.. I digress.
  18. If you have the FMT & NAV, they [dealerships] will strongly insist on doing it AT the dealership. They had to "make sure that everything was reset and correctly re-flashed" They kept my A3 card and installed the A4 card. The reason its worded as "not available for X configurations" is that they don't have a "owner package with the A4 SD card" available. Only the dealer shop upgrade kits and directions. Zoom functions .. yes there is only one (now) and it's meant for seeing the hitch and ball alignment. Everyone else .. go get bent I guess. Yes - there "used" to be a cancel button .... I never was really sure why I'd need that .. but I like options ..not getting them removed. I called my dealership today to report the inability to connect to a protected WiFi due to the keyboard being ghosted. They'd already heard about it and did't have any idea on what why when or if there was going to a something done about it. Nice ...
  19. 3.5.1 - nope, still does it. (randomly starts playing when starting car)
  20. wickid cool ! What color is that body ... it looks darker than the std silver, lighting ? I likes !
  21. Bling or utility ? IMHO and what I'll prolly end up doing next year after I recover from several set backs this year. Is a set of 17" steel for just about any ford from your local salvage yard. The important part is the hub diameter and off set. (offset distance is the distance between the flat backside surface of the hub area and the back rim edge. 2011 Ford Edge Specs Bolt Pattern: 5x114.3 Center Bore: 63.4mm (70.5mm for pre 2011) Hardware:1/2 Lug Offset: 34-45mm darn interweb ... can't believe anything you read here ! - thx guys
  22. re the "video in view of the driver" Be sure you know the wording of the LAW. Here in Illinois its worded as a "television receiver" and my laptop is NOT a "television receiver" and yes I have tested those waters and I was right. I don't know if they're updated the law in the past 7 years or so. But like many other laws .. if it not a hot plate item, it often lags severely behind technology. and Edge 535 - if you youtube search that shop and that device, watch each time he makes one. Its not that hard and is mostly labor in sanding and filling and sanding and filling and some technique, that comes with practice.
  23. xK317Hx - your single and the 1st two in the second post are great. Do you have alternate download links or can you email me .. (pm me if you're open to that and I'll get you an email) joesworld .... awesome as well.... maybe I'll upload a few of mine that I've "done" I'm into 40's nose art from bomber aircraft if you know who Vargas is.
  24. ok - so due to circumstances beyond my control, I just had to replace the two tires and rims (soon on the rims) on the left side of my vehicle. I got some good Q&A time with the senior mechanic there and in light of this thread had some very specific questions to ask. 1) they do know which tire is which. numbered 1-4 starting at the front driver to front passenger and passenger rear to finally the driver rear. 2) they can read PSI from the individual transmitters, AS WELL AS temperature and other "error codes" that can be read from the ODB-II port. He was surprised that there were no screens in my edge that didn't give that info. When trouble shooting these they have to pull the failure codes to get a clue. :hysterical2: Anyways, another thing that he pointed out was that on other systems that do show the LF, RF, LR, or RR, often other shops and sometimes the dealerships won't reset them when the when the warning goes away. Then the driver get a warning that his LF is low and its really his RR.
