  1. It's definitely aftermarket, but I can't imagine that a security system has a visual switch to shut it off... without tracing the wires, I would have no clue what it is. See if there's a part number of company name on it somewhere and do a web search?
  2. I think you'd be surprised how thin you can make a box with the right sub and enough height. I'm building a sealed box for my 15" that currently takes up a ton of space. The box will only be 12" deep, but run across the whole of the driver's side trunk panel leaving plenty of room to store stuff to the right of it. If you were to replace the stock sub, I'd probably build a new enclosure, or buy a stealthbox... quality is 99% enclosure. I'm sure you could fit a ten in if you're willing to cut the plastic, but I'd be careful to say ALL tens go down "so" low.
  3. It's like, turn to acc. plug in seat belt, unplug and replug 9 times while the light is off, then leave unplugged and the light should stay off. If the light stays off, the chime is off. It's in my manual, and there's also a thread about it. ..unless that way only applies to first gens..
  4. Welcome fellow first gen'er! My mods are in my sig. Show us the edge!
  5. Thanks. While the aftermarket may be limited for the car, with enough creativity, you can make it pretty unique.
  6. Welcome!! Hope the Edge serves you and your family well! PD the grille to match the wheels! Also, I'm not sure what the laws are in Texas, but here my cousin in the police force mentioned that modded tails are grounds for citing you at fault for rear-end collision that isn't *entirely* your fault. Just something to look into. My mods are in my sig.
  7. A convert and a first gen owner! Welcome!
  8. Of course. I only open it during great weather, and usually close it when it's parked. I've always see IT as the most vulnerable point of the car. Thanks!
  9. Awesome, thanks! Do you have it? What would happen if it's open?
  10. Yeah, why? Does it not work if they break in through that?... not that I expect them to, but I didn't expect a break in to begin with.
  11. After my recent break in, I'm pondering the addition of the Viper Invisibeam proximity sensor. http://www.viper.com/P-508D/Invisibeam%C2%AE-Field-Disturbance-Sensor I want to know if this is an addition to my current Viper alarm system or an entirely separate alarm. I don't need two alarms on the car... Also, has anyone used it? I've seen reviews of people claiming hard rain and snow sets it off, and I do not want my alarm unlocked all winter to prevent it from going off.
  12. Total damage: $2145, plus whatever they determine a new top center console trim to cost. I didn't expect it to be THAT much. **edit: Also, after the fact, I intend on adding a proximity sensor, possibly tinting darker, changing up the sub stage, and the deductibles are being lowered to $250 comp, $500 coll.
  13. It's so awesome to see love between an owner and their pets. I grew up without them and just arriving at a house with a dog makes my day a little better. Hope something comes of the matter, but like you said, the law isn't always the way we want it to be. Take good care, buddy.
  14. That was my matching thing. I understand when fogs don't match headlights, as mine don't, but it bugs me when there's like five different colors. lol Underglow is an exception.
  15. Not my thing. I do think the exhaust cutout lights are an interesting touch, and the front lights seem bright. Gonna make them match?
  16. I'd be satisfied if they were sentenced to hand-picking the glass shards out of my seats and carpet, as well as every other car they busted into, without gloves and with a severely OCD supervisor. Cruel and unusual? Well, so was the crime.
  17. *Update* Appraisal's done. Going to replace driver's and passenger's interior door panels, touch up the scratches and dings, reimburse me for the windows, and redo the tinting. I'll be paying my full deductible, but at least insurance gets hit a little, right? Appraiser was real nice, and briefly talked about waxing our rides and treating them well. He pointed out some dings on the driver's door that he said would probably call for a replacement. I'm happy. Now I just need to get it repaired before school starts, get the glass out of my seats, fix my false floor, and trouble shoot the back-up camera... dang.
  18. ^^^^ +1. Check my sig, as well. There's a thread on "How-Tos" that WWW started. Use the Google powered search on the left side of the page.
  19. Welcome fellow first-gen owner! I see we share names, as well. I have all my mods listed in my sig.
  20. I, too, want to know where to find the 1st gen Ford Edge kit. I'm tired of my plastic and don't like the 3D Carbon kit.
  21. There are plenty that have aftermarket subs in their factory sub location. I've been considering it, but idk if it will give me the same punch and loudness as my custom-built setup does.
