  1. Low and behold when the dealer and I started raising a fuss last week with the Ford D.O.M. by suggesting we'd go over his head to get this MKX serialized..bingo it was serialized the next day with the NAV system, looking at mid May production. We did learn that MKX allocation is very tight for Canada but as you indicate things should ease up in June. We were told awareness of the MKX is urban US cities is in the 30% range..far too low and that most of the MKX shipments are going to urban USA in coordination with a heavily weighted media plan to boost awareness, trial and hopefully sales.
  2. I'm stuck..ordered Jan 2 and still not serialized..dealer says June. I think I'm a victim of allocation restraints..mine is a small Lincoln dealer..suspect they are low on the priority list. Any thoughts on how I can hurry things along?
  3. Can anyone at Oakville confirm that NAV systems for Edge/MKX's are in very short supply?? Also can they confirm that some orders needing Nav systems are not yet serialized due to this. Any idea when this situation will improve? Thanks
  4. These waits are tough to take..I've been waiting since Jan 2nd and still not serialized. Out of curiosity does your Edge have the nav system and/or the Vista roof? Enjoy.
  5. I was told today by Ford that orders with Nav systems placed as far back as early January are on hold and not even serialized as of yet due to shortages of nav systems from the supplier. ( Pioneer I believe). Can anyone confirm this or provide further information??? Thanks.
  6. ZM: Thanks so much for this..basically I think what you are saying is "when demand exceeds supply we have a process, confusing as it may be, to allocate vehicles." I strongly suspect that this is the situation my order is in. I have always thought that there are better ways to retail vehicles and at the same time boost boost consumer satisfaction and manufacturers' margins. Your response has strengthened this thought.
  7. This comment about shortages of Chrome wheels was raised a few weeks ago..the reply on Feb 7th. was "The supplier that produces the 18" chrome rims fell behind on orders. They are mass producing the rims now and all orders will be filled. Should take a week or so to get caught up.'
  8. Can anyone explain how allocation works please?? i.e. what dealers are affected, how many vehicles do they get per month, any idea how long allocation will be in place, can they trade allocation with other dealers? etc. Thanks
  9. I have a question about orders and deliveries. Does Ford prioritize which dealers get vehicles before others? Do "A" dealers get vehicles before "B" dealers?? I have had an MKX on order for 8 weeks and as of today it is still "clean and unscheduled". I find this unusual when on this site I find, among others, an Edge ordered Jan 26 and produced Feb 20th. Thanks.
  10. Just wondering...does anyone know how many Edge's and MKX's have been produced since the start up in October 2006??? Thanks
  11. Mugs:: Any idea how many Edge's and MKX's are being produced weekly?? Thanks
  12. Anyone know if there are production slow ups on the MKX due to parts shortages or delays. I am aware of three MKX's that were ordered six and seven weeks ago and the dealer doesn't haven't a VIN yet on any of the three. I ask this because on this website I have seen many Edge's ordered after these MKX's and yet they have VIN's and in some cases have already been built. Thanks from Ontario Canada.
  13. I saw one as well, in bright light I felt you could definitely tell it was purple but otherwise it looked black especially from a distance. It is a very dark color.
  14. jrod: In the above message the last five digits are 72477, does this mean this is the 72,477th Edge produce since the start of manufacturing?? As well I ordered an MKX on Jan 2 07..the dealer says he has no info yet, no VIN. What interests me is I've seen MKX's ordered after mine that are serialized and have VIN's. Any idea why this happens. Thanks
  15. This is the complete Ford VIN decoder. https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/vin_...dfs/VIN2007.pdf
  16. I live in Canada and ordered an MKX on Jan 3 2007. To date my dealer has not received a VIN from Ford. He does have what he called a Ford Order Number which is D881. Does anyone have any idea if this number means anything at all? Also any thoughts on why an MKX would not be serialized after 5 weeks?? Thanks
  17. My arithmetic may be suspect but I cannot understand why there are such long delays for Edge's and MKX's. Here's my presumed logic. There are about 4600 Ford/Lincoln dealers in USA/Canada. Assume 4 vehicles per dealer for inventory this is 18,400. Ford sold and delivered to retail 3060 Edge/MKX's in December 2006, none in Oct or Nov. to speak of. Oakville starting building about Oct 9 2006. They have been building for 16 weeks and theoretically they can build 4000 per week or 64000 vehicles. In the real world as they ramp up, production is less than optimal and I'd say they could produce at an average of 65% or about 42,000 vehicles. So they have 42,000 vehicles to allocate. 20,000 were retail preorders and I put the 3000 sold in December in this amount. 18,400 for dealer inventory. This totals 38,400 vehicles or 3600 less than what I think were produced. So by my logic right about now they are ahead of the game, Ford says they estimate to sell about 100,000 Edges and 30,000 MKX's in 2007. This is about 11,000 per month, well below what Oakville can produce. Again they should be ahead of the sales demand or are retail sales orders are far out stripping estimates??? I know this could be all nonsense but maybe someone can help. Thx.
  18. Maybe someone from Oakville could answer these questions and thus help me understand why it takes so long for my dealer to get the VIN for my MKX..now six weeks and counting. 1. How many Edge's and MKX's are produced per week? 2. Are the two models manufactured simultaneously? 3. Do you manufacture different paint colors and options at the same time or do you wait until, say you have x number of orders for copper Edge's and then manufacture them? 4. Are the refits complete? 5. Is the dealer inventory build complete? 6. Are there factory tours?? Thanks.
  19. Lately I have seen gaps of 6/7 weeks from order to serialization, maybe someone can tell us how many shifts per week Oakville will schedule for the next month or so??

  21. Dealer mark up from cost to MSRP, in Canada is about 7% on Edge and MKX. On top of that is the billback which varies between 1.5 and 3%. Dealers rarely, if ever, will give back any billback on a deal
  22. I am fairly certain the GPS is a Pioneer unit. Info here: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/p...4027123,00.html
  23. Today it would cost about $53.50 American to fill an AWD Edge in Ontario Canada. Gas is about $2.67 US per US gallon. In the above example the miles/American gallon is about 13 miles per gallon. Calculation: 340km/64 l is 5.3 km per liter 1 US gal. is 3.8 l. 1.6 km is 1 mile. 5.3 km is 3.3 miles 3.3 times 3.8 is 12.miles or 13 miles ger gallon.
