  1. That's exactly what I meant when I said "not owning up to" the problems I mentioned above. I meant doing the right thing regarding high-failure items replacing them at no cost to the customer.
  2. Sorry, I forgot to post an update earlier. About two weeks ago, I bought a new TB on eBay for ~$120 and replaced it myself (my warranty's expired). Prior to buying and changing the TB, I wanted to make sure that this would fix the problem, so I talked to a good friend of mine who had this happen last year (goes by "Dingo" on this forum). I wanted to know if the problem returned after the TB swap. DIngo said that this fault hasn't returned on his Edge since having the TB changed. That gave me some reassurance that this was the right repair for this problem. It's very easy to do. Just remove the intake hose, disconnect the wiring plug from the TB,and then the TB comes off after removing four bolts. The whole process should take at most an hour, so I'm not sure why it costs upwards of $700 at the dealership. For me it took a little longer because I also installed a K&N Cold Air Intake the same time. But by replacing the TB myself, I saved a ton of money, and had the fun and satisfaction of turning the wrenches and fixing it myself. Right after I swapped the TB, my wife took the Edge on a 1200 mile round trip journey to Alabama and didn't have any problems. But here's what I don't understand, and maybe the Ford Service folks can explain for us: It seems (at least from what people discuss on this forum) that that there are several wide-spread problems with various systems/parts on the Edge and that they're present in both first and second generation models. I'm talking about this throttle body problem, the recurring problem with the Vista roof not closing or closing slowly, and the door ajar sensor issue. At what point does Ford finally own up to the fact that these parts were faulty designs to begin with or faulty parts/systems or whatever and recall/replace them at no cost to the customer, no matter what the individual mileage may be on a given Edge? I'm sure there are many more people dealing with these issues than just what we've seen on this forum. I'd like to see some statistic from Ford Service on these three issues regarding how many parts have been replaced and/or service has been performed for these three prominent problems. To not own up to major problems like these doesn't speak too well to Ford's "Quality is Job 1" mantra, and could drive loyal Ford customers towards other brands...
  3. Those look good! What's the brand/model/specs on those wheels?
  4. Sorry guys, I bought this earlier this week.
  5. My 2011 Limited has now done this to me four or five times in the last two weeks-once on a busy interstate highway. I cleaned the TB last week, but obviously that hasn't helped. I think I'm going to bite the bullet and order and new one and swap it. I have ~57K miles on the car.

  7. So the TB isn't part of the 60K powertrain warranty?
  8. As long as you only use MAF cleaner on it, you can clean it as often as you so desire. Last night, I changed my oil/filter, cleaned the MAF sensor, and cleaned the throttle body. Throttle response seemed a little better this morning on the way to work. I'm going on a road trip this weekend, so hopefully I'll see a bit of an improvement in MPG. Of course, that's largely dependent on the weight of my right foot!
  9. I've been debating this too. From the research I've done, it appears that the Gibson system has a bit of a deeper, more aggressive tone than the Magnaflow. The Gibson system is also several hundred dollars cheaper than the Magnaflow. As soon as I get the $$$ cobbled together, I'm buying the Gibson system.
  10. I've already done that, and it helps. It isn't occurring as frequently as before spraying it now.
  11. Yep, me too. Got the driver's side fixed last year under warranty. Now the passenger's side front is doing it, and the warranty's expired. Figures...
  12. My 2011 Limited did this for the first time on Saturday, and again this morning. I have ~55K miles on it. I'm going to clean the TB and see if that helps. If not, I'll buy another TB and swap it myself. RockAuto.com has it new for ~$193. I found a used one w/90-Day warranty on eBay for ~$79. I may go the cheaper route and try a used one.
  13. Some of these are already available. See my comments in your quoted post above. ^
  14. OK, by now we're all familiar with the driver's front door latch failing, causing the "Door Ajar" warning. Mine failed shortly before the warranty expired and I had it replaced. Well, this past weekend, I started getting the same symptoms from the passenger front door! And of course, it's at ~54K miles, so no warranty. Anyone else had this happen to doors other than the driver's front? Ford really needs to own up to this problem and fix it!
  15. Is this still available? Is it model #77-2583S?
  16. This is very cool! Think I'll get one to use with my KUDA mount.
  17. You're welcome. Yes, in my opinion, they are well worth the money. They're very easy to install (usually five minutes or less), and they have a very professional, clean, almost factory look. Go for it, and let us know how it turns out.
  18. Yes, the cradle attaches to the mount with double-sided 3M tape. It attaches very firmly, and won't come off unless you want it too. I've used these mounts both in my '04 Sport Trac, and now my '11 Edge. Love 'em!
  19. You can get one of the universal cradle like this one for $16.99. It mounts right to the KUDA mount. http://www.kudausa.com/universal-passive-medium-holder-for-iphone--ipod--zune--pda--gps-a856.html As for the side trim piece, just pull gently but firmly and it will pop right out.
  20. That's to be expected, since the Edge and Fusion have always shared the same platform. And we'll probably see a lot more common stuff across these models since under Alan Mullaly's "One Ford" global initiative, many vehicles will share platforms like the Edge/Fusion/Mondeo models.
  21. I never said that they bothered me. I was just commenting that they went back to a design from a previous generation. Seemed like a step back instead of forward. Just an observation. Overall, I'd say they hit it out of the park with this redesign.
  22. Check it out. Looks good, but I'm not sure why they went back to first-gen style vertical center HVAC vents. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/suvs/2015_ford_edge_first_look/
  23. I don't think they're supposed to slide with the roof. The right side one on my '11 Edge started doing that recently, but the left side remains intact. There doesn't appear to be any kind of adhesive holding it in place. I think the rubber might just be dry and sticking to the glass. I'm going to coat it well with some 303 Aerospace Protectant and then rub a little baby powder across the surface of the seal that touched the glass to help prevent the rubber from sticking to the glass and getting pulled back with it when the BAMR opens.
