  1. SOLD K&N 77-2583KS PERFORMANCE INTAKE KIT Fits 2011-2015 Edge w/3.5L V6 and Sport model w/3.7L V6. http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?prod=77-2583KS SOLD
  2. K&N now makes cabin air filters too. A little pricey, but it's "clean and reuse" just like the engine air filters. So it should pay for itself in the long run. I may pick one up and try it. http://smile.amazon.com/VF2019-Cabin-Air-Filter/dp/B00NEL75AA/ref=sr_1_6?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1418760553&vehicle=2011-54-5858-13--9-6-5-8302-2562-1-1-2832-182-5-0&sr=1-6&ymm=2011%3Aford%3Aedge&keywords=cabin+air+filter
  3. Agreed. I like the "growl" when accelerating. It also looks good under the hood in my opinion.
  4. What do you mean by "run correctly"? I've been running this intake for two months now without a single problem. K&N intakes are designed to be a "plug and play" install, requiring no other mods (including a new tune) to function correctly.
  5. I don't think so. From the research I've done on part # AT4Z9E926B throttle body, it's used on Ford/Lincoln models equipped with the 3.5L and 3.7L V6 engines (Edge/MKX, Mustang, F150, Taurus, Flex, MKZ, and Explorer). I know that the 2011-2012 Fusion Sport also has the 3.5L V6, but everywhere I've looked, it says that this part number won't fit the Fusion, even when I select the Sport model with the 3.5.
  6. The defective TB part # is T4Z9E926-A. The replacement TB part # is T4Z9E926-B. I found a brand new replacement TB on eBay for ~$120 shipped a few months ago. The link is below. The seller is in Puerto Rico, but he ships quickly. I received the TB in about three days in IL from PR. It was easy to swap out. It took me maybe about 1.5 hours, and that included installing a K&N cold air intake at the same time. I've been running the new TB for a few months now, and the problem hasn't returned. Before I pulled the trigger, & ordered it, I talked to Dingo (a good friend of mine) about it. He had his TB replaced under warranty a little over a year ago, & hasn't experienced the problem at all since. So if you're out of warranty and at all mechanically inclined, I'd recommend getting one from this seller & changing it yourself. You'll save a ton of $$$ compare to having it done at an independent shop or the dealer. http://www.ebay.com/itm/161476285370
  7. Thanks for the tip. Too bad it won't help on the passenger side, since there's no keyhole in the handle. Had the driver's side fixed under warranty, & now te passenger side is starting to act up with 62k miles-which means out of warranty& big bucks for a repair.
  8. My driver's door ajar sensor on my 2011 failed last year under warranty. Now my passenger's side front door is doing the same thing, and I'm at 61K miles. Not looking forward to shelling out upwards of $600 to have that one fixed..
  9. Can you provide more information on this, such as a TSB number, or other documentation showing where the warranty has been extended on this part? I've not seen anything on these forums about it, and I just did a quick Google search and found nothing about a TSB or extended warranty on the TB. There are, however, tons of complaints about this TB problem, because it's not isolated to the Edge. This TB was used in several models, including Escape, Edge, and F150.

  11. Good question. If it disables the air bags, that could be a game-changer for whether or not to issue a recall. Keep us posted!
  12. This is exactly what I've been talking about all along regarding this fault being a pretty significant safety issue. Ford needs to step up and extend the warranty on the TB, issue a TSB or recall and fix this problem before someone's seriously injured or killed and they have to deal with a serious law suit, the resulting bad PR, loss of consumer confidence, and loss of sales.

  14. When the engine loses power with this fault, it also shifts the tranny down to first gear, thus causing a rapid, unexpected deceleration. And speaking from first hand experience, I can tell you that it's not a gradual loss of power, it's very sudden and unexpected. Try (if you dare risking damage to the transmission) slamming your transmission down to first gear while traveling at 65+mph and see how fast you slow down. As for the brakes of the car behind you, they're only as good as the foot pressing on them. So accident prevention in that regard is directly dependent on the vigilance, situational awareness, and reaction time of that driver.
  15. That's exactly my point with the TB problem. If it happens at high speeds, on a crowded freeway (like it did to me), there's a strong possibility of an accident occurring. And the TB, Vista Roof, and especially door ajar problems have lingered for far too long, and Ford should do the right thing and extend the warranty on them.
  16. I did replace the TB myself, as stated on 29 September ^. And as I said earlier, I'm out of warranty, so it would've cost me upwards of $700 to have it repaired, based on what I've heard from other out of warranty Edge owners who's had this problem fixed at the dealer. So at what point in your opinion (and Ford's I guess too) does it become a safety issue? When this problem causes one accident, injuries and/or fatalities? Or how many more than one would it take? As for the lack of quality, not correcting problems like this, the door sensor, and the Vista roof issuesi n a timely manner and letting them continue over several model years is what gets an automaker a bad rep re: quality, and causes customers to look to other brands... I would think that this would be a good motivation for Ford to fix it.
  17. This is exactly my point. Having experienced this myself on a busy freeway, I can tell you that it is indeed a serious safety issue. When the TB chokes out and the power drops, it happens very suddenly, without warning, causing the vehicle to rapidly drop from whatever speed at which you're traveling to little more than 10-15mph very rapidly. Also, then engine can't be revved much beyond 1000rpm when this happens. So, along with this sudden loss/lack of engine power, you also have a major reduction in power-assisted steering and braking. When is the last time any of you drove a 4K+ lb vehicle on a crowded freeway, at 15mph, with virtually no power steering/braking? That's what happened to me, and I was in the middle lane of a three-lane freeway, and I can tell you that it wasn't easy, and getting over to the shoulder with cars whipping past/around me at 70+ mph was challenging to say the least. The real conundrum with this issue is that it does throw a CEL light/code, but it's reset/dumped (albeit temporarily) as soon as one turns off/on the vehicle. So if you do this and then take it in for service, the tech can't troubleshoot it without a code. So what are Edge drivers supposed to do when it happens? Call a tow truck and get towed to the nearest Ford dealer for repairs while the code/light is still present? In my particular case, I was leaving Chattanooga and returning over 500 miles home to Central IL I guess I should've called a tow truck, and had it fixed at the local dealer, where it would've cost me upwards of $700 just for repairs, right?. That doesn't include the lodging costs for me to stay in Chattanooga while awaiting repairs, nor the extra lost work time. So what's it take for Ford and/or the NHTSA to seem this a major safety issue worthy of a recall? How many injuries, or worse yet, fatalities have to occur before they step up to the plate? You can't say that this doesn't pose a direct safety risk if you've experienced it like I have, as stated several times in this thread. The risk to drivers and passengers in an Edge with this problem is very real, and is also a risk to others on the road around them if the Edge craps out on the highway with this fault. Not only that, but this problem has been around for at least three years--there have been 2011, 2012, and 2013 Edge owners who have experienced it. Ford should've identified the problem and came up with a solution in 2011 so it wouldn't continue to surface in subsequent model years. Same with the "door adjar" sensor issue. This doesn't speak well at all for "Quality is Job 1".
  18. I just spoke with a woman named Heather via phone. She gathered some info regarding my concerns, but essentially said that because my Edge is out of warranty, I'm on my own re: repair costs. I feel that Ford should take steps to own up to and correct these problems that are present in many Edges over several model years. These are repairs that would be very expensive for me. One door adjar sensor has already failed, and now I'm dealing with another one? That's unacceptable! This is a defective part that Ford should repair no cost to the customer. Same with the Vista Roof issues. Do some research on the Edge Forum,& you'll find that many, many owners are having these problems. The TB/Loss of Power issue is a serious safety issue, and potentially very dangerous. I myself experienced the sudden loss of power while traveling at highway speeds on a busy freeway in Chattanooga, TN. Luckily, I was able to get over to the shoulder to turn off/restart the car. But I could've been in a very serious accident, causing harm to me and my family. Does Ford feel that the possible litigation costs and potential injury/loss of life, and subsequent loss of consumer confidence and sales are cheaper than what it would cost them to issue a recall for the TB and replace it at no cost to the customer.
  19. I've still never seen a PM reply from Ford Service. Someone called & left me a voicemail yesterday. I've tried to call back twice, with no success. We're now playing voice mail tag.
  20. I'd recommend Torrie at http://unleashedtuning.com/. He's got years of experience writing custom tunes for Fords. Everything from a GT40 to Mustangs, Taurus SHO, Sport Trac, Focus, Edge, etc. I bought a SCT X3 w/custom tunes from him years ago for my '04 Sport Trac Adrenalin. His customer service is outstanding. He responds to emails very promptly, and if you need changes/tweaks to the tunes after buying the tuner, he'll do it for free for life and just email the new tunes to you. An X4 w/custom tunes from him for my Edge is on the mod list.
  21. I don't see a response from you in my PM's. Feel free to contact me directly via email. I PM'd you my email address.
  22. I use Mobile 1 synthetic in all my vehicles (2011 Edge, 2008 Mustang [Warriors In Pink edition], 2012 Fusion, and 2008 E450 Forest River Sunseeker RV). I also use K&N oil filters, mainly for the one inch nut on the bottom of the filter-makes removal much easier. I usually change the oil/filter in all the vehicles at between 7-10K mile intervals.
  23. I noticed this shortly after I bought my 2011 with 32K miles last year. Took it to my local dealer, and they also told me that it was normal.
  24. I have the light-tinted EGR in-channel shades. They fit great, but the tint could've been a little darker. I might use some VHT Nightshade spray tint to darken them more.
