  1. Works the same way for me Once=Lights Twice=Horn Solas
  2. with that regimen, ypu will have no issues getting warrant work done should the need arise Solas
  3. i am sure someone has you are better off than us because of the projectors but w/o seeing it in person cant say for sure. just search and be patient solas
  4. Is this what you are looking for? These are made for your vehicle. I have one for my Mazda (and had one for the Cavalier we replaced). They work very well and keep it cool. They roll up as well. Will be buying one for the Edge too when it gets Spring time. Edge Heatshield There are others too that are solid. My brother has this one for his MR2 and likes it as well - can remember the name. Solas
  5. I have an addendum question: If you replace the head unit - you are modifying the electrical system. Say you put in aftermaket Nav where nav did not exist. You have the slide out screen with all the goodies etc... If your alternator dies prematurely (there really is no large % load added because it is a replacement with NO amps added), Ford can deny you warranty replacement because you replaced the head unit. Now that seems a wee bit extreme. What if I could prove the load/drain was not a significant difference and was within spec (if I could get it)? Maybe my Mazda dealer is good in this aspect??? Now, if I added 3 amps with out correctly changing the wiring, then I would side with Ford because I would be an idiot to add 3 AMPs without beefing up the electrical system. Solas
  6. "If there is an oil related engine failure -sludge, overfilled, low oil level/heat related, out of oil, etc. then no number of receipts will satisfy a warranty specialist." Agreed - but documentation can not hurt - period the end. Now, I will NOT trust my dealers service department in my area. They dont care - and over filled my Dads Windstar. Duuuhhhh.. I am not willing to take the chance. The dealer I bought it from is just a wee bit out of the way for oil changes - 40 minute drive. "Oil samples will be taken and analyzed to determine the cause of the condition. A receipt doesn't prove anything, any more than a corner lube repair order proves that maintenance was actually done." Yes, under the extreme circumstances, like engine replacement. Now this is regarding Mazda, I know they look up your service records before they start investigating issues. Since none are in there, I would give them my records - proof that the car was indeed maintained - and the problem is not due to lack of maintenance. Now if they "find" that it was the oil, I would have my oil tested independently to prove to them. Most likely it will never go this far, but with my service departments, it probably could. "...approved maintenance parts" - means anything that meets Ford specs - not Ford products. It is illegal to force you to use their parts to approve warranty work. Just buy quality products - ie no Fram. "The next worse case is driving into deep water and hydro-locking the engine - again - not warrantable." Agreed, but not part of the topic. "Don't take someone's word for what they have done or what materials they have used. Check the oil level after service and look to see if they put on a new filter (I would mark the old one so I would know if they changed it or watch them do it.)" Why in the world would I pay money for something ONLY to verify it every time? If they are trained professionals, should they not do it correct? This is why I will do all the maintenance myself - because I know it is done correct. "..I don't know how much help you would get from a parts supplier or corner lube shop if you have a problem with their maintenance parts or their service." I would not expect anything from a Parts Supplier and never go to a corner lube shop. I would still maintain my own records for any future reference. I am a strong believer of the more proof of maintenance the better. Just my thoughts and opinions. Solas
  7. That is bad news - I feel sorry. Hopefully investigators can determine the cause - obviously the Edge, but what in the Edge. How long was it warming up - 5 min, 10 15 etc? I would think Ford will want to look at it because I assume they are going to make a warranty claim. Think it is a lemon? I agree it is a quality vehicle. On a note: any personal belongings WILL (at least should - does on mine) be covered by home owners insurance since it was in the garage. I have had ZERO issues with our 2008 Limited. My home owners insurance covered theft in LA in my car - I live in Ohio. I have not hear of anything like this on the Edge. Since it was a 2008, I dont *think* it was a PTU leak onto the exhaust - although it could (they should have been fixed on 2008's - TSB applies to 2007). But since it was at startup, the exhaust would not have been hot enough to ignite anything - I think. Usually it just gives a burning smell. There have been 1 off's where users report not fully connected wires which cause other problems - like radiator boiling . Maybe there was a connector of sort that was not fully connected that created a spark - only thoughts. Of course, if wire sheathing is faulty, it could melt and catch fire - seen it before - not on Edges of course. Oh ya, dont forget about dem gremlins - darn little buggers. Keep us updated here please Glad to hear no one was injured - even though there are many headaches involved. Solas
  8. jpeckinp - thank you for the picture - excellent job. Now I gotta see if the wife will let me get them. Solas
  9. Hello and welcome to both of y'all. Nothing wrong buying used - is saves the wee pocket book eh? My opinion on the Factory Sirius is it sounds tinny. Now, this is my first exposure to SAT radio. I will not renew the subscription. Now if you do not hear it, go for it. My thought is that most likely, maybe, after market Sirius is better. A lot of the people here are not happy with the Factory Nav - it does not have a lot of POI - search and you can read their gripes. I have a Garmin 350 mounted to the dash under the rubber mat. The audiophile is good - not great. After market is better, but for factory, I can not complain. It is better than my factory Bose in my Mazda. Who uses a 5.25" sub anyway (RE my Mazda). Good Luck all Solas
  10. OOOHHHHH you beat me again bbf2530 Yes, as bbf2530 stated, that is all you need. This is my regiment. Use Amsoil 7500 miles synthetic oil (as long as your oil meets specs) Change (plans to anyway) at 7500 miles Buy oil filter day of change Take pic of receipt with newspaper Change the oil Then I update the myford website with the change (as well as my records) This IS overkill - but I have never heard of too much documentation (darn Sarbanes Oxley) Good luck Solas PS - My oil filter was REALLY tight from factory. My strap wrench BENT the can trying to take it off - YIKES. Just be patient.
  11. This is in relation to MAZDA where many people (not me) put carputers in their 3's (because the glovebox is twice the size of the Edges). When taken to the dealer, no warranty claims were denied against electrical. Some had to fight when it came to audio warranty, but eventually won. My ASSUMPTION would be the same for Ford. However, Ford could easily deny audio claims, even maybe electical (I would be surprised). All else is still covered under warranty. It sounds like you are redoing all the audio so I would not be worried - maybe check with your dealer first. Notes - from my experience, a carputer will not fit in the glove box - unless you go bare boards - which is a lot of the time not advised - but is done. Center console yes - is should all fit there - I would think - maybe. Also, do you have a power passenger seat - I have not specifically looked under it, but I know there are wires and motors visible - could take up more space than you want. At first, glance at the topic, I had hopes you were going to use the SYNC processor as the computer - Good Luck and show us pics when complete. Solas
  12. No it is not an indicator of bad things - remember 2007 is a first run year for the Edge. Most (not all) people have stated that once replaced, all is well. There are a few other things to look out for RE the 2007 - look at the TSB list in the Maintenance section. Good luck - it is a wonderful vehicle and I have had no issues with its quality thus far (*knocks on head*). Solas
  13. When viewing a post (not in reply mode) In the red bar with the post title, to the right is a gray button called "Options" Click it Under "Display Modes" Click "Switch to: Standard" This will get you to view posts so you have to scoll down to see all (and whole) posts.
  14. Welcome to the board. While you will be close to a limited there are a few features you will be missing - mainly for reference. Did you get the Premium Package or the Seating Flexibility Package? Reverse Sensing System (for us, this is a false sense because it always goes off in our garage) - did opt for this? SYNC - you did not mention if you got it. It is standard on Limited, but option otherwise. This is a GREAT feature IMO. Get it if you can (if it works with your phone/mp3 player of course). Premium+Seating Flexibility PKG only exists on the Limited. Cant get both on the others. Cant wait for the pictures. Solas
  15. Welcome fellow Ohioan. Sounds like a good ride m8. My mileage city was 18-19 (computer) and 17-18 (calculated). I have close to 3.5K miles now. Highway is 24MPG under hilly conditions. A/C took about 1.5MPG off. The open BAMR took about .75 MPG off - but well worth it. If I ever can find the Electronic Service Manual that I want for a good price, things will really change on my Edge. Solas
  16. No problem - take your time - I myself am in no rush. Beggars can not be choosers here. Solas
  17. Yes, please post pics - two ways if you can. 1) Open Road (like an alley or something) and 2) Against a wall or garage on level ground about 20-30 feet away. Again if you can. Thanks! Solas
  18. Welcome to the forum You will get to know the miles to E using the light that turns on. I survived many moons without the miles to E :yup: It is a great ride, but it is not without its charm. Keep postin' Solas
  19. Welcome There is a plethora of info here - but there is always room for more. Solas
  20. Sounds like warranty work to me. 07-16-11 ROOF OPENING PANEL SQUEAK/RATTLE Some 2007 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles equipped with a roof opening panel may exhibit a rattle or squeak from the rear glass area. This may be caused by the delamination of the rear trim ring hook and loop (Velcro) adhesive. Inspect the rear trim ring and if loose, determine if the loop tape has delaminated from the plastic trim ring. It may not exactly match - but reason enough to bring it in. YOu did not mention year but... Mine does not rattle - have had temps from 5F to 65F and nothing yet *knock on head* Solas
  21. While bbf2530 said it all (yet again :hyper: ) I would be worried about demo cars. I know people that took them to shows and events (not the Fords but other brands) - boy howdy did they demo them alright. They did unspeakable things. Now this is not to say this is what happens to all of them - especially if it is a large show/event where they bring many many vehicles. As bbf2530 said, do negotiate with the dealer because it really is a used vehicle. Just my ramblings is all Solas
  22. This is a common problem with Chrome rims. Apparently moving to plastic Chrome does NOT solve the issues - it is a shame as I had hoped this would solve the problem with Chromes because they are higher maintenance. Ways to prevent are: 1) Keep clean - salt and brake dust are the evils here. 2) Keep it waxed - yes waxing plastic rims - seems funny to me. Sounds like hot wheels. However it seems like the Aluminum is corroding..?? 3) There are chrome polishers - but they are for metal - no idea how they will work on plastic. Now that being said - I would suggest IF you are under warranty - just replace them if you trust your service department. My $0.01. Solas
  23. Ford REALLY needs to update the non-Nav head unit - they are lacking A LOT in this aspect. Even GM has a better looking -2- Line display (ON THEIR CAVALIER). Sheesh Just my wee rant Solas
  24. Does anyone have access to the wiring diagram for the BAMR and shade? I am tired of having to manually close it all the way and I want to wire it up to close all the way. This is stupid pinch protection imo. I rewired my Mazda to have One touch close (did not have it from factory) and it does well - but I have the Electronic Service Manual. Smaller moonroof, but it works. Solas
  25. I will add two more things - since my Edge is a $30K+ vehicle 1) No bolt covers on the rear seat in the middle. The two outside bolts have covers, why in the world is there none on the inside ones. Since my interior is camel, black against camel is VERY evident. 2) No plastic panel to cover all the wires under the seats - tacky imo. 3) I agree with needing side moldings I am not making excuses for Ford in the following: Glove box - maybe because of its angle they think users could use the cabin light. Hood Prop - I prefer a rod (no oddities please) over struts. Yes I uderstand that luxury cars have them, but I still work on my cars and prefer rods over struts. Cargo Cover - It would be nice, but as another thread discuss on here, the odd shape makes it very difficult (if I recall correctly.) Cargo Mgmt - I am not aware of the Murano or Vibe systems, but it does have an option for one. It is not much and nothing like my Mazda3 - but there is one. They could have put something smaller in the left side opposite the Sub and in front of the Liftgate motor. Engine Covers - I think engines look better without - HOWEVER, I am in the minority I think on that one. Even my $19K Mazda3 has one. Also, if I recall - MKX does NOT have factory HID - just projector (movable). Solas
