    Check Engine Light and Codes

Well I am glad I have my appointment on the 29th for the ac issue reported earlier although it seems to have resolved itself. Now I got a check engine light came on yesterday afternoon and the following codes were thrown. P0420- Catalyst System Efficacy Below Threshold Bank 1 P0108- Manifold Absolute Pressure Or Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input P008B- Low Pressure Fuel System Pressure-Too High (This one seems like an oxymoron to me how can it be low and too high) Upon some initial research it seems like the car should be running really rough with these codes and it is running as smooth as silk just like it normally does. I will post once I find out more next Friday the 29th. Thankfully have another 4,000 miles until the warranty runs out. Any input would be appreciated.
  2. I have looked online and I am having issues finding information about carbon buildup in the current 2.0L Ecoboost engine. First off I want to avoid any issues in the future and I feel like sitting at ~35,000 miles it may be around the time to do some routine maintenance to avoid buildup. I am trying to find information or a place here locally in Odessa, TX thatch do the service or if I should even worry about it right now. Someone mentioned looking at BG's online to find a place, but I can't seem to figure out what website it is. If someone could post a link and some insight on to these DI engines on the ford ecoboosts.

    Moving On

Good Evening, Unless something goes wonky in the next 24 hours I will be the proud new owner of 2017 Subaru Outback 2.5 I with 29,000 Miles. I am going to sell my Edge so if I can get any suggestions on selling the car please let me know. I loved the way the car ran and how smooth it was. I will still be around here until I get the car sold and will most likely still pop in once in awhile. I can't express how gracious I am for y'alls help over the last 5 and a half years. It was just to good of a deal to pass up.

    Moving On

For the first 6 months of ownership I have fallen in love with the Subaru. Something about a Boxer Engine Growl and a great AWD system.

    Moving On

I did finally sell the Edge a few weeks ago. Almost unbelievably to my parents. They needed something a bit bigger for when they go places together (Audi A3 is to small, Ford F-250 Too Big). They like it so far. On a sour note not less than a week after transferring the title to my parents my Subaru was rear ended thankfully no one was hurt, but now it is in the body shop and I am stuck driving a 2018 Nissan Rogue Rental. Would have much preferred the Edge to the Rogue thats for sure.

    Changing Oil Brands

I need some input. As my car is now out of warranty I want y'alls opinion on switching from the Motorcraft 5W-30 Synthetic Blend to a Full Synthetic Oil. If this would be a good idea or if it should not be done at this stage in the game. Also should I try a different oil filter as I have always used Motorcraft filters as well? What brands do y'all recommend for normal driving with most oil changes still occurring within 5000-7500 miles. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks In Advance

    Idle RPM's

This has been ongoing for a while but want to get opinions before I take it to the dealer. When the engine is idling every so often the RPM's will drop from ~800 to Just under 500 and the car shutters a bit. This only seems to be an issue when the AC is on, and it did this with the old compressor and with the new compressor as well. I first noticed this when the brake booster went out and I figured it was from the vacuum leak, but since that has been fixed for over two years and it is still doing it I doubt that. I honestly thought it only happened when stopped in traffic with my foot on the brake, but today I was waiting for someone with my car in park and it did it again. I can't remember exactly when, but I had an injector service done about 40,000 miles ago and it seemed to maybe make this better for about 15,000 miles. I think that I might get the injector service done again, but I am wondering if this may be a throttle body issue. I still have the warranty for another 15,000 miles or April of my estimations on driving and mileage.

    Do You Like Your Edge?

My Edge was enjoyable for the most part when I first got it, but I had one that had many many more issues than normal. I am still trying to sell it. It was overall very comfortable to drive and fit me well, but I do not regret moving on. I have had two bad experiences with cars from American Brands (Chevy and Now Ford). I find it humorous that both of my cars from American car companies were built in Canada, and the first car I have ever owned from a Japanese manufacturer was built in Indiana. Strange world it is.

2013 Edge speedometer needle moving bacwards.

I had this problem start to occur about two months before the battery had to be replaced. It is one of the many signs of when the battery is going bad. I would have the battery tested and see what is said before it leaves you stranded. If it is over three years old it may be time to replace it.

    Fear of the Unknown

Well as we sit right now my Edge has 99,786.4 miles and will most likely hit the 100,000 mile mark on or around October 31st. When this happens the extended warranty is no more and I seriously fear what may be around the corner. So I guess the question will be will it be more of a trick or a treat. I most definitely have not had the best luck with this car, but have had very little out of pocket costs except for a 1500 dollar catalytic converter and a few $100 deductibles. I absolutely love the tech features and the comfort of the car, but I really wonder if it will last to 175,000 miles or 2022 when I hope to replace the car. Also now that the warranty is about to be out I will definitely be doing more wrenching on the Edge myself and will be extremely grateful for the awesome how to's and posts thus far on this site and I hope to be able to provide even more insight throughout the rest of my time on this forum. The first malfunction to fix is the rear hatch support struts as the first cold temperature we had so far (39 Degrees F) I opened the hatch and it slowly started to shut. Thankfully already found the MACT video and will tackle that over Thanksgiving Break.

    Moving On

It is a 2012 with the Ecoboost engine not AWD. It was nice with tech and everything, but I have never really enjoyed how the transmission felt.
  17. tamugrad2013

    Moving On

Warranty is part of it, but how much work it needed when it was warranted was a big part of it as well. The fact that the transmission is still just not quite right also scares me quite a lot as well.

    Steering Wheel Cover

The sun has not been kind to my steering wheel although the rest of the dash still looks immaculate (color me confused) and I am looking for a well fitting steering wheel cover that does not have to be sewn on but still looks rather nice. I would prefer to go with one color that is very similar to the grey color on the OEM steering wheel. Any suggestions would be appreciated and amazon would be preferred. Thanks in advance.

Am I Crazy or Could This Be Done Safely

Good Afternoon, I am starting to make some Summer vacation plans and I am thinking about taking another long road trip, but this would be the longest yet. I want to drive from Odessa, TX to Redwoods National Park in California. Just some prelim information it is about 1800 mile trip one way which I would break up over 4 or 5 days. I would also spend about 7 days there and in the surrounding area and then drive back home over 4 or 5 days along a different route. On the way their I would basically take I-20 and I-10 to California and then the roads that run North/South in California around LA and Oakland/San Fransisco up to the National Park. On the way back I would take a route that would take me through Las Vegas down till I hit I-40 and then head west until I get to Albuquerque. I do not mind driving at all, but I do worry about the mileage on my Edge because it has at the moment 104,777 miles by the time this summer gets her I would expect it to have around 107,000 miles on it and this trip would add another 5,000 easily. Before anyone suggests it flying is not an option. I absolutely hate flying and to me the journey is half of the adventure. The last long trip I went on put about 3,100 miles on my car in the span of 9 days and their was no incidents with the car along the way then again the biggest city I encountered on that trip was Denver. One reason I choose Redwoods National Park is because it is further North and I would be close to Oregon so I can knock that state off my list as well as Arizona and California. I would also be able to visit the Pacific Ocean and then I would have seen both the Atlantic and the Pacific. So am I crazy or does this sound like a fun adventure. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Am I Crazy or Could This Be Done Safely

Maybe reversing the order would be best thanks dkbrandi87 and I know people drive many more miles than this, but my Edge has been kind of temperamental at times.
  21. Well when my backup camera stopped showing guidelines it required a replacement camera which mine was covered under my extended warranty and I believe the consensus has been that it is not a software update or bug in the software, but an issue with the actual camera. I am not sure if replacement cameras are built differently but I have had no issues since getting mine replaced in 2015.

    Edge ST MPG

I don't recall seeing any information regarding the EDGE ST but I believe the general consensus is that MPG will vary and will settle into the normal range after the break-in period. I do also wonder if you have reset the Gauge. I reset the MPG gauge every fill-up on my 2012 Ecoboost. I also would say that taking and calculating the mileage my hand by taking miles driven over amount of gas put in is a much more accurate calculation.

    Head Rest Adj.-For/aft-2012

Another option would be to go to a junkyard and see if you can find a gen 1 or 1.5 that is a limited with the same seat color that tilt and swap them out I would assume they are also plug and play.

    Edge vs Grand Cherokee

The thing that I like about the Jeeps is the availability, at least in the past few years (who knows about the future), of the diesel engine in the Jeep Grand Cherokee but their reliability would scare me off as well then again I would say my Edge hasn't been that reliable either so I honestly believe it is all a crapshoot anyway since every manufacturer will have positives and negatives when it comes to reliability.

    2018 Fort Worth Auto Show

Well after attending the Auto Show today I must say that Ford must have done something different to the seats of the refreshed 2019 Edge and Nautilus because I actually could get comfortable in them. I will say that the best in show for me and my needs would be the Subaru Forester, but alas the next car purchase I make will most likely be three or so years down the road.
