  1. Well I am glad I have my appointment on the 29th for the ac issue reported earlier although it seems to have resolved itself. Now I got a check engine light came on yesterday afternoon and the following codes were thrown. P0420- Catalyst System Efficacy Below Threshold Bank 1 P0108- Manifold Absolute Pressure Or Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input P008B- Low Pressure Fuel System Pressure-Too High (This one seems like an oxymoron to me how can it be low and too high) Upon some initial research it seems like the car should be running really rough with these codes and it is running as smooth as silk just like it normally does. I will post once I find out more next Friday the 29th. Thankfully have another 4,000 miles until the warranty runs out. Any input would be appreciated.
  2. I have a covercraft and couldn't be happier it isn't to compact but it is a great fit.
  3. Mine would have to be the horribly clunky 6F35 transmission in the Gen 1.5 Ecoboost Edges. I am on my second transmission and the new one is much better than the first one but it still has some hard shifts with only 10,000 miles on it.
  4. I decided to install a Nest thermostat yesterday and it amazes me how technology can work on something as simple as a home thermostat. The install was extremely easy. I think it took 20 minutes start to finish with a bit of dawdling while watching old episodes of Top Gear. The greatest thing is a got it for fifty dollars off because my local Best Buy forgot to change the price label on the shelf and they honored the price that was on the shelf. Lets just say I was the last one to get that price.
  5. Will do I know that this can be an issue according to previous posters. I did find the green connector under the dash and if it happens again I will try to disconnect and reconnect that and I also have placed my socket set in the car to disconnect the positive battery terminal if it comes to that. Again glad it happened before 100,000 miles.
  6. As I was running some errands this morning after my last stop the AC all of a sudden started blowing warm air on the drivers side and still cold air on the passenger side. As I went to the dealer immediately to make an appointment a I have the premium care warranty for another 5,000 miles until it runs out. The service tech recommended until the appointment I may be able to reset it by disconnecting the positive battery terminal which I was going to try when I got home. Strangely as soon as I leave the service desk and get back in the car the AC is working as normal again. I am going to keep my appointment but lets hope it continues to work until then.
  7. I purchased a Covercraft Winshield sunshade and it arrived yesterday. Looking forward to seeing if it will keep the interior cooler on this recent string of 105+ F we have had lately. I am impressed with the fit but for $64.00 it better fit exactly right.
  8. Sorry to dredge up an old topic, but I did have this done with about 46,000 miles and I had no detrimental effects as far as I could tell. Now I did have to have the Turbo replaced at 80,000 miles although I kind of don't now why to be honest because it was running just fine before the dealer had it for transmission issues. I highly doubt a service done at 46,000 miles would cause the turbo the fail after 34,000 additional miles were put on it. Also it seems strange that a service bulletin was put out for this to ford on not having it done, but they still do it at their service lanes and quick lanes. It seems like that would make them highly culpable if and when a turbo failed shortly after service.
  9. I ordered the PIAA blades from amazon and am quite happy so far. It has only been a month but two showers later and they work wonderfully. Wish I could find PIAA wipers for the back blade.
  10. Ive had it done about three years ago and I really did like the difference. I need to do it more often. Now I think it will be part of a yearly service.
  11. I took in my Edge to get a fuel injection service at my dealerships Quicklane center this morning and as I am there they have trouble putting on the injection apparatus and determine that they do not have the proper adapter for my Ecoboost Edge. The Quicklane manger let me know that they have to order the part and when it gets in they will call me in and perform the service. The real kicker and I say good thing is that for the inconvenience they ware going to perform the service for free which normally costs $89.99 and they put in a can if BG 44k fuel system cleaner in for the time being again at no cost. If this was during the school year I would have been a bit peeved, but since I am on summer break and have a slightly more open schedule I am not even worried about it.
  12. I tried to glue it but it didn't work. The case did work just the wrong back to the key.
  13. Well the part came in the mail and it works just great. I would be slightly disappointed because the product did change slightly from the description, but since I had the original back cover and did what MACT did I feel it isn't a huge deal. The back that came with the new case didn't have an indention where you can place the Ford logo if you did want to take it off the old backing. It is completely smooth with no indentation. Everything else works wonderfully.
  14. I agree I did it maybe twice a year the first few years I had my Edge, but not many since then. Just for grins I ran one about two months ago and it said it finished I never got an email saying it was ready and it never showed up on the sync site.
  15. Well today as I was leaving work I attempted to remote start my car and noticed that the button didn't feel like it normally does as it didn't click like normal. Well I took the key apart and noticed one of the metal parts that attaches the button to the sensor for each key fell off its placement. I tried to super glue it back to the plastic but it didn't fix it. All the other buttons work and the remote start works with the other key. I ended up ordering this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012A3EWYY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1and I am anxious to see if it works. I know the internals work since I took the second key apart and put them in it and all worked well. Definitely an interesting fix if it works. I will let y'all know when I get the part in.
  16. I went the CPO route and the warranty and the extended which I have discussed elsewhere has been helpful, but I know my next car will be brought with cash and I will not buy a warranty. CPO definitely.
  17. I will say although my edge seems to have had more problems than others it is still the favorite car of all of the cars in my immediate family including an Audi A3 and an F-250 with the power stroke. I will say my sister-in-laws new to them CX-5 now does place second finally knocking off the A3. I just hope I can keep the car without it bankrupting me after the warranty runs out.
  18. I agree with my research 5000K wasn't too bad. Mine really haven't even started to get brighter yet and the vehicle has 93,000 miles on it. I will say my parent's Audi A3 has HID's and it has over 178,000 on it and they have never replaced the HID's and they are still about the same white at least in my view. I do not drive it often though to notice much of a difference.
  19. Definitely have been doing research the lights are still doing good (stock) I will say I do not like the second option because 6000K to me looks to blue. I like what is standard which is I Believe 4300K.
  20. On the 2018 Escape I had it for a loaner came on at 35 miles to E my 2012 Edge comes on at 50.
  21. As requested here is a redacted copy of the service report. They did have to replace the crank case assembly apparently and also the turbo feed lines were improperly installed when the turbo was replaced last summer which caused the minor leaking. The APIM information is also on the report but that is fairly well covered. oil leak.pdf
  22. Good News I Got my Edge back today Everything seem well with one small exception that I will discuss with my service advisor in the morning. The MFT seems to be very smooth and of course I don't see any oil leaking. The small complaint comes from the fact that they didn't put back the face plate on the usb/sd card/line in ports. I didn't notice it until after they had already closed. It is funny how we become so babied by our car. I really missed my power lift gate and the Sony sound system sounds so much better than the one in the Escape. I also love having remote start back. I will put a new post probably this Friday when I have the day off with a redacted copy of the service report on what was replaced with the oil leaks but it good to have my baby back with me.
  23. I figure it is time to give an update. Got a call from the dealer on Tuesday the 20th stating that they got the APIM to program finally and when they were giving the car a final test drive upon parking they noticed oil still leaking (about fifteen minutes before they closed). They determined it was from some crankcase seals and the parts were ordered on Wednesday to see if they had the parts in stock before they ordered them. They still haven't arrived as of Friday close of business. I am still in the Escape which while yes I do love Sync 3 I do miss some of the connivence features of my car like the remote start, keyless ignition, power lift gate, BAMR, and of course integrated navigation. I will say the Escape gets better mileage. I am averaging about 23 mpg in the city on my Edge I normally average 21 or so mpg. Also auto start stop is such a mixed bag. I know it is engineered to work but I logically can't see how it doesn't kill the starter super early. But I do think it helps with mileage.
  24. I guess leak may be the wrong word, but when I initially started this thats what I thought it was. I guess we can call it an evaporation event.
  25. It makes sense to me considering if it has small cracks in it (it is plastic) and it gets hot when driving coolant can theoretically evaporate and escape through these cracks. I don't know It was consistently dropping about a half inch every eight weeks or so and it wasn't getting into the engine ie. no milky oil and it couldn't see any leaking out under the car. All I know that after having it replaced it hasn't dropped since.
