  1. High wattage LEDs cost more than regular bulbs. Ever look at the cost for a 60W equivalent LED bulb for your house? The cost to manufacture is probably 10%-25% of retail. That'd be my guess. Besides they have to leave some of the fancier touches for the Lincoln MKX.
  2. Is there something wrong with me because I went through every page of a manual for a car that I don't even own?
  3. We can now be 100% sure that you can set the liftgate opening height. A dealer demonstrates the feature on the 2015 Edge Titanium
  4. I hate it when they lock up cars at the auto show! Half the fun is sitting inside! I'm glad they have an example with the standard wheels though. Most of the pre-production models photographed and on youtube have upgraded wheels.
  5. I was trying to make the point that no matter what hardware they use, they have to test it just like they test anything before they put it into production. If they do have two different sets of hardware for Sync 2 and 3, then they'd be wasting a lot of resources testing The Edge HW for Sync 2 if they were only going to produce it for a few months. However, I know they re-use HW parts between models. It could be that the guts of the HW in the 2015 is the same as the 2014 with updated dedicated buttons which would carry over to 2016 or something. The Sync 3 "guts" could be only validated once for multiple models such as 2016 Explorer & Edge. Long story short, I'm just guessing. I wish I knew.
  6. If they were to do that then the Sync 3 system would have to be merely a SW upgrade and not a HW upgrade. They wouldn't validate HW specific to the current Sync system only to have it in for a few months. I am hoping that they switch over to Sync 3 sooner rather than later, but somebody else posted a quote from a Ford rep stating that Sync 3 would not be backward compatible with the 2015 Ford Edge. So I doubt we'll be seeing Sync 3 in 2014 on the Edge. But you could take the optimist POV and say that the Ford rep said it's not backwards compatible because they didn't want to incur the cost of upgrading current customers when the Sync 3 system comes out, even though it is fully compatible with the current HW...
  7. Call your salesperson and make sure that they do not install the front plate mount. Normally the dealer attaches the front plate mount because certain states don't require front plates.
  8. This video was really informative. I had no idea the rear seats would recline. Also, due to my lack of attention, I didn't realize that the Titanium 301A or 302A package allowed you to select "Cognac" color leather. It's a nice looking color! I also didn't know that the LED light bar that goes across the entire rear of the Edge would not be included with the SE or SEL. I was 100% sold on getting the SEL because my must have features of having the garage door opener, sunroof, heated front seats, remote start and MyKey system were offered in the SEL. I didn't really care if I didn't get the heated steering wheel, a/c front seats, heated rear seats, HD radio or ambient lighting offered in the Titanum. BUT, that cognac color may just be enough for me to justify the extra $1000+ for the options that are nice to have in the 301A package.
  9. thanks for the post! But I have some questions... just kidding
  10. I just wanted to understand how it works. I specifically tried to avoid asking what percentage or dollar amount their discount was. I asked more out of curiosity. There is so much conflicting information out there. Thanks for the info.
  11. Can somebody explain to me exactly how the dealer hold back system works? Some people tell me that it's a flat percentage below the invoice amount. Others tell me that the hold back increases with volume sold on a monthly/quarterly basis.
  12. I'm annoyed that the 2015 SEL with My Ford Touch and AWD is about $3,000 more than the outgoing 2014 model. All I ever wanted was the 2.0L Edge to come with AWD, and now it does, but they raised the price significantly over the same configuration but with the 3.5L V6 last year.
